9. Battery tool use and care.

• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the o󰀨-positionbeforeconnectingtobatterypack,picking up or carrying the appliance. Carrying the appliance with yourngerontheswitchorenergizingappliancethat have the switch on invites accidents.

• Disconnectthebatterypackfromtheappliancebefore makinganyadjustments,changingaccessories,or storingappliance.Suchpreventivesafetymeasures reducetheriskofstartingtheapplianceaccidentally.

• Rechargeonlywiththechargerspeciedbythe manufacturer.Achargerthatissuitableforonetypeof batterypackmaycreateariskofrewhenusedwith another battery pack.

• Whenbatterypackisnotinuse,keepitawayfromother metalobjects,likepaperclips,coins,keys,nails,screws orothersmallmetalobjects,thatcanmakeaconnection fromoneterminaltoanother.Shortingthebattery terminalstogethermaycauseburnsorare.

• Underabusiveconditions,liquidmaybeejectedfrom thebattery;avoidcontact.Ifcontactaccidentallyoccurs, ushwithwater.Ifliquidcontactseyes,additionallyseek medicalhelp.Liquidejectedfromthebatterymaycause irritation or burns.

• Do not use a battery pack or appliance that is damaged ormodied.Damagedormodiedbatteriesmayexhibit unpredictablebehaviorresultinginre,explosionorrisk ofinjury.

• Haveservicingperformedbyaqualiedrepairperson using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure thatthesafetyoftheproductismaintained.

• Beforeusingbatterycartridge,readallinstructionsand cautionary markings on (1) battery charger, (2) battery, and (3) product using battery.

• Do not disassemble or tamper the battery cartridge. It mayresultinare,excessiveheat,orexplosion.

• Ifoperatingtimehasbecomeexcessivelyshorter, stopoperatingimmediately.Itmayresultinariskof overheating, possible burns and even an explosion.

• Ifelectrolytegetsintoyoureyes,rinsethemoutwith clear water and seek medical attention right away. It may resultinlossofyoureyesight.

• Do not short the battery cartridge.

• Do not store and use the tool and battery cartridge in locations where the temperature may reach or exceed 50 °C (122 °F).

• Do not nail, cut, crush, throw, drop the battery cartridge, orhitagainstahardobjecttothebatterycartridge. Suchconductmayresultinare,excessiveheat,or explosion.

• Do not use a damaged battery.

• Thecontainedlithium-ionbatteriesaresubjecttothe DangerousGoodsLegislationrequirements. For commercial transports e.g. by third parties, forwardingagents,specialrequirementonpackaging andlabelingmustbeobserved.Forpreparationofthe itembeingshipped,consultinganexpertforhazardous materialisrequired.Pleasealsoobservepossiblymore detailednationalregulations.Tapeormasko󰀨open contacts and pack up the battery in such a manner that it cannot move around in the packaging.

• Duringandafteruse,thebatterycartridgemaytakeon heat which can cause burns or low temperature burns. Payattentiontothehandlingofhotbatterycartridges.

• Donottouchtheterminalofthetoolimmediatelyafter use as it may get hot enough to cause burns.

• Do not allow chips, dust, or soil stuck into the terminals, holes,andgroovesofthebatterycartridge.Itmayresult inpoorperformanceorbreakdownofthetoolorbattery cartridge.

• Unless the tool supports the use near high-voltage electrical power lines, do not use the battery cartridge near high-voltage electrical power lines. It may result in a malfunctionorbreakdownofthetoolorbatterycartridge.

• Keepthebatteryawayfromchildren.

11. Tipsformaintainingmaximumbatterylife.

• Chargethebatterycartridgebeforecompletely discharged. Always stop tool operation and charge the battery cartridge when you notice less tool power.

• Neverrechargeafullychargedbatterycartridge. Overchargingshortensthebatteryservicelife.

• Charge the battery cartridge with room temperature at 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F - 104 °F). Let a hot battery cartridge cooldownbeforechargingit.

• Whennotusingthebatterycartridge,removeitfromthe tool or the charger.

• Chargethebatterycartridgeifyoudonotuseitforalong period (more than six months). CAUTION:OnlyusegenuineMakitabatteries.Useof non-genuine Makita batteries, or batteries that have been altered,mayresultinthebatteryburstingcausingres personalinjuryanddamage.ItwillalsovoidtheMakita warrantyfortheMakitatoolandcharger. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION CAUTION:

• Alwaysbesurethattheapplianceisswitchedo󰀨,and thebatterycartridgeisremovedbeforeadjustingor checkingfunctionontheappliance. Installing or removing battery cartridge CAUTION:

• Hold the appliance and the battery cartridge rmly when installing or removing battery cartridge. Failure to hold the appliance and the battery cartridge rmlymaycausethemtoslipo󰀨yourhandsandresult in damage to the appliance and battery cartridge and a personalinjury.

• Becarefulnottotrapnger(s)betweentheappliance and battery cartridge when loading battery cartridge as well as between the appliance and the battery cover when closing the battery cover. To install the battery cartridge, release the cover lock, and open the battery cover. (Fig. 1) Insert the battery cartridge. Align the tongue on the battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip it into place. Insert it all the way until it locks in place with a little click.Ifyoucanseetheredindicatorontheupperside ofthebutton,itisnotlockedcompletely.Thenclosethe battery cover. Toremovethebatterycartridge,slideitfromthetoolwhile slidingthebuttononthefrontofthecartridge.(Fig. 2) CAUTION:

• Alwaysinstallthebatterycartridgefullyinplace.Ifnot,it mayaccidentallyfalloutoftheappliance,causinginjury to you or someone around you.

• Donotinstallthebatterycartridgeforcibly.Ifthecartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being inserted correctly. English6 Indicating the remaining battery capacity (Fig. 3) (Onlyforbatterycartridgeswiththeindicator) Press the check button on the battery cartridge to indicate the remaining battery capacity. The indicator lamps light up forfewseconds. Indicator lamps Remaining capacity Lighted O󰀨 Blinking 75% to 100% 50% to 75% 25% to 50% 0% to 25% Charge the battery. The battery may havemalfunctioned. NOTE:

• Dependingontheconditionsofuseandtheambient temperature,theindicationmaydi󰀨erslightlyfromthe actual capacity.

• Therst(farleft)indicatorlampwillbrinkwhenthe battery protection system works. Useofnon-genuineMakitabatteries,orbatteriesthathave beenaltered,willvoidtheMakitawarrantyfortheMakita appliance and charger. Turning on the light and brightness mode selection (Fig. 4) 1.Switch:Presstheswitchonce,thelightturnson(Atthe same brightness mode as the last setting). Press the switchagain,thelightturnso󰀨. 2.Brightnessmodeselection:Brightnesssequenceis: Highmode/Lowmode/Highmodeforeachpresswhen the light is on. Battery protection system (Fig. 5) Theapplianceisequippedwithabatteryprotection systemtoextendbatterylife.Whenthebatterybecomes low, the LED lights go out except one LED as illustrated. Thenapproximatelyvetotenminuteslater,thesystem automaticallycutso󰀨power. OPERATION CAUTION:

• Becarefulnottodroptheappliancewhenattachingthe appliance on the tripod.

• Make sure that the appliance is attached securely on the tripod.

• Remove the appliance when carrying the tripod or when foldingthelegsofthetripod.

• Becarefulnottogetyourhandcaughtinthelegsofthe tripod when closing the tripod. MAINTENANCE CAUTION:

• Alwaysbesurethattheapplianceisswitchedo󰀨,andthe batterycartridgeisremovedbeforeattemptingtoperform inspection or maintenance.

• Neverusegasoline,benzine,thinner,alcoholorthelike. Discoloration,deformationorcracksmayresult. Only maintenance work described in this instruction manual maybeperformedbytheuser.Anyotherworkmustbe carriedoutbyMakitaauthorizedservicecenters. Cleaning CAUTION:

• Never wash the appliance in water. Fromtimetotimewipeo󰀨theoutside(appliancebody)of the appliance using a cloth dampened in soapy water. OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES CAUTION:

• Theseaccessoriesorattachmentsarerecommendedfor usewithyourMakitaappliancespeciedinthismanual. Theuseofanyotheraccessoriesorattachmentsmight presentariskofinjurytopersons.Onlyuseaccessoryor attachmentforitsstatedpurpose.
