INSTRUCTIONS. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, re and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents. b. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of ammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. ELECTRICAL SAFETY a. Power tool plug must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodied plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. b. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. c. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. d. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. e. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. f. If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use an earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB) protected supply. Use of an earth leakage circuit breaker reduces the risk of electric shock. PERSONAL SAFETY a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the inuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b. MACHINE-SPECIFIC SAFETY WARNINGS

SAFETY WARNINGS FOR JIGSAWS

a. Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock. b. Keep hands away from the sawing range. Do not reach under the workpiece. Contact with the saw blade can lead to injuries. c. Apply the machine to the workpiece only when switched on. Otherwise there is danger of kickback when the cutting tool jams in the workpiece. d. When the cut is completed, switch off the machine and then pull the saw blade out of the cut only after it has come to a standstill. In this manner you can avoid kickback and can place down the machine securely. e. Use only sharp, awless saw blades. Bent or unsharp saw blades can break or cause kickback. f. Do not brake the saw blade to a stop by applying side pressure after switching off. The saw blade can be damaged, break or cause kickback. g. Use suitable detectors to determine if utility lines are hidden in the work area or call the local utility company for assistance. Contact with electric lines can lead to re and electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead to explosion. Penetrating a water line causes property damage or may cause an electric shock. h. Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand.

i. Keep your workplace clean. Blends of materials are

particularly dangerous. Dust from light alloys can burn or explode. j. Always wait until the machine has come to a complete stop before placing it down. The tool insert can jam and lead to loss of control over the power tool. k. Never use the machine with a damaged cable. Do not touch the damaged cable and pull the mains plug when the cable is damaged while working. Damaged cables increase the risk of an electric shock.

The Moto-Saw is a compact and very easy to use 2-in-1 scroll saw. It can be used either in stationary mode, when the tool is docked in its base or in hand-held mode. This tool is intended to perform precise straight and curved cuts in different materials including soft wood, hard wood, composite boards, laminate, PVC or soft sheet metal using the applicable accessories recommended by Dremel. Using the Moto-Saw in stationary mode gives you the freedom to cut different materials with both hands holding your work piece. In this mode you can complete different hobby or wood working projects precise and easily. Using the Moto-Saw in hand-held mode is advisory when the work piece is too big or xed and therefore cannot be put onto the base. Typical hand-held operation includes coping work or cutting smaller pieces of materials. In hand-held mode the Moto-Saw functions as a motorised coping/fret saw. STATIONARY MODE

1. Make sure the base is securely attached to a at work

surface with the help of the clamps provided. The base can be permanently secured to a work bench with regular screws through the 2 holes located on the top of the base. PICTURE 1

2. DO NOT sit or lean on the base. The base is meant to

support the materials being cut.

3. Once the base is secured, dock the Moto-Saw in it:

rst feed the cable through the base’s hole and then simply click the unit into the base. The Moto-Saw is securely docked, when the hand-held unit and the stationary base are ush. PICTURE 2-4

4. Only use the Dremel Moto-Saw in the base. Other

electric power tools are not intended to be used with the base.

5. For a clean work environment and for better line of

sight, attach a vacuum cleaner to the dust port.

6. Once your saw blade is inserted as per the user

guide, the tool is ready for operation. PICTURE 5-9

7. Start the tool and let the tool come to the right speed

before contacting the work piece. DO NOT turn the switch “ON” and “OFF” while the tool is under load.

8. Press down the Hold-Down Foot onto your work piece

to prevent it from bouncing. To minimise vibration hold your work piece with two hands close to the saw blade.

9. Do not push your work piece too hard against the saw

blades. These blades are for delicate use. Therefore it is important that the blade has time to cut the materials. Excessive pressure on the work piece will result in early blade snapping.

10. Before beginning work on your project, make a few

practice cuts on scrap material. 13HAND-HELD MODE

1. Keep pressing the Quick Release Button while

detaching the Moto-Saw unit from its base. PICTURE 13

2. Once the tool is detached, the Moto-Saw can be held

in your hand. PICTURE 14

3. While cutting in hand-held mode, make sure you have

a rm grip on the tool. PICTURE 14

4. Try to line up the unit’s surface against the bottom of

your work piece to reduce vibration. PICTURE 15
