How to replace the batteries of the DistanceMaster Home?
Open the battery compartment located at the back of the device. Insert two AAA 1.5 V batteries respecting the indicated polarity. Close the cover. If the display shows Err101, the batteries must be replaced.
What to do if the device shows no measurement?
Check that the batteries are correctly installed and sufficiently charged. Make sure the target surface is sufficiently reflective (smooth and bright). Avoid measuring through glass or in direct sunlight. If the problem persists, consult the error codes.
How to change the measurement unit (meter, foot, inch)?
Briefly press the lighting/unit button (sun symbol) to switch from m to ft, inch or _' _". The unit changes with each press.
How to measure an area with the DistanceMaster Home?
Turn on the device then press the function button several times until the area symbol (square) is displayed. Point the laser at the first side and press DIST to measure the length. Then point at the second side and press DIST again. The display shows the calculated area.
How to use the Pythagoras function?
Select Pythagoras mode 1 or 2 by pressing the function button. For Pythagoras 1, measure two distances (hypotenuse and side); the device calculates the height. For Pythagoras 2, measure three distances (with automatic min./max. function for the second measurement). Follow the diagrams in the manual.
What do the error codes Err152 and Err154 mean?
Err152 indicates an ambient temperature too high (>40°C). Let the device cool down. Err154 indicates a temperature too low (<0°C). Warm up the device gradually. In both cases, measurement may be disturbed.
How to clean the laser distance meter?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the housing and the laser window. Do not use chemical or abrasive products. Make sure no water enters the inside of the device.
Can the DistanceMaster Home be used outdoors?
Outdoor use is limited. Avoid strong sunlight, rain, fog or snow which may distort measurements. Range and accuracy are reduced outdoors.
How to perform continuous measurement (min./max.)?
Press and hold the measurement button for 3 seconds then release. The device starts continuous measurement. Move the laser along the area to measure; the display shows the maximum (max), minimum (min) and current value. Press DIST to end.
What to do if the device does not turn on?
Check that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity and that they are not discharged. Replace them if necessary. If the device still does not turn on, contact customer service.

Important notices

- The laser points to the location that will be measured. No objects may get into the laser's line of measurement.

- The device compensates the measurement for different room temperatures. Therefore allow the device a brief adaptation period when changing locations with large temperature differences.

- The device is only conditionally useable in outdoor areas and cannot be used in strong sunlight.

- The measurement results of outdoor measurements may be influenced or falsified by rain, fog and snow.

- In unfavourable conditions, e.g. with poorly reflecting surfaces, the maximum deviation may be greater than 3 mm.

- Carpeting, upholstery or curtains will not reflect the laser optimally. Measure to flat surfaces.

- Measurements made through glass (window panes) can falsify measurement results.

- An energy-saving function switches the device off automatically.

- Clean with a soft cloth. Water may not be allowed to penetrate the housing.
