1 Safety instructions

This document contains the Quick Start Guide and important safety information for the device. You are required to read this instruction manual attentively before operating the device for the first time. Keep these instructions for later use.

1.1 Identification of instructions

1.2 Rules for use
The device can only be operated in combination with a dust extractor. Also observe the operating manual of the dust extractor.
The device must
- only be used by persons who have been instructed how to use it correctly and have been explicitly assigned to operate it
- only be operated under supervision
- This device must not be used by persons (including children) with physical or intellectual restrictions or who do not have sufficient experience and knowledge.
- Children should be supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the equipment.
- Do not point the nozzle, the hose or the pipe at people or animals.
In addition to these instructions and the regulations for accident prevention in your country, the regulations governing safety and responsible use must be observed.
The operator of the device must be informed of the following before starting work:
• how to handle the device
• dangers of the extracted material
- safe disposal of the extracted material
1.3 Purpose and intended use
This device is intended for extracting high volumes of dust. It extracts a large part of the material from the extracted flow before it reaches the dust extractor.
The hose connection is suitable for ISP, ISC and uClean series and also for many devices from other manufacturers.
The device is suitable for extraction of
- dust of dust class L
• coarse dirt up to a grain size of 20 mm
Use only antistatic devices/accessory parts (earthing, protective conductor must be installed).
This device is intended exclusively for commercial use, such as in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, businesses, offices or for hire.
This device is also suitable for industrial use in factories, building sites and workshops.
Accidents due to improper use can only be prevented by the user of the machine.
READ AND OBSERVE ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
Any other use is considered improper use. The manufacturer will not accept any liability for damages resulting from improper use. The user is solely responsible for such use. Use as intended includes the correct operation along with regular maintenance and repair in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
1.4 Not intended use
The device is not suitable for extraction of the following materials:
• dusts of dust classes M and H
- flammable or explosive solvents, including liquids such as petrol, oil, alcohol, paint thinners
• substances impregnated with solvents
• aggressive substances (e.g. acids, alkalis)
• chemically reactive substances that generate heat, acids or bases, gases etc. (e.g. reactive two-components substances, aluminium and water).
• explosive dusts
- materials (chips) that exceed 60 °C, dust containing asbestos
- extraction of the above prohibited materials The device is not intended for:
- use of the dust extractor in potentially explosive environments
- carrying the dust extractor by the device
- use by unsuitable persons (under 18 years, persons under the influence of drugs)
- the use of unsuitable consumable materials
- fire or explosion of the dust extractor and device with the resulting dangers for the operator by burns or flying parts, inhalation of potentially toxic substances
- extraction of asbestos. Danger for the operator or other persons in the area due to inhalation of pollutants.

Dust Class L (IEC 60335-2-69): Class L dust extractors are suitable for extraction of dry, non-flammable substances that are health hazards with a maximum acceptable concentration (MAC) of > 1 mg/m ^3 .

Dust Class M (IEC 60335-2-69): Class M dust extractors are suitable for extraction of dry, non-flammable dusts, non-flammable liquids, wood dust and hazardous dusts with a MAC value of ≥ 0.1 mg/m ^3 .
Class H dust extractors are suitable for suction of dry, non-flammable dusts, carcinogenic and pathogenic particles and also non-flammable liquids, wood dust and hazardous dusts at all concentrations.
When using dust extractors, a sufficient air exchange rate M must be ensured if the extracted exhaust air is being blown into the room. Please observe the regulations applicable in your country before initial operation.
1.5 Warranty
The warranty is governed by our general terms and conditions.
The manufacturer will not accept liability for damage resulting from unapproved modification of the device, the use of incorrect brushes or the use of the device for purposes other than the intended use.
1.6 Important safety instructions
WARNING

- Do not operate the device in potentially explosive areas.
- Keep the device away from flammable gases and substances.
- Do not operate the device in an aerosol environment.

For operation in food-processing facilities: clean and disinfect the device immediately after use to prevent contamination.

Do not use flammable cleaning agents.
- Do not clean with steam cleaners or pressure cleaners.
- Do not leave the device unattended.
- Never sit or stand on the device.
- Place the device on horizontal surfaces only.
- Danger of falling when working on stairs. Ensure that it is stable.
- Do not pull, kink or crush the suction hose over sharp edges.
• Always position the suction hose so it does not form a trip hazard. - Do not lift the device by the cover.
- Do not use the device and its accessories in the following cases: - The device has visible damage, e.g. cracks in the case, damage by sharp edges.
- If hidden damage is suspected, e.g. after a fall
- Do not use the device outside during a thunderstorm.
- Wearing hearing protection when working.
- Switch off the dust extractor immediately if you discover a fault.

Do not operate a faulty device.

Do not allow children to play with consumable or packaging material, e.g. plastic bags.
- Do not allow children to play with small parts.
2 Hazard warnings
2.1 Hazardous dust
WARNING

Hazardous substances. Inhalation of hazardous dusts may cause serious lung diseases:
- Do not extract dusts containing asbestos.
- Wear suitable personal protective equipment.
- Clean the dust extractor before disassembly.
- Ensure that the work-place is well ventilated.
- Clean the maintenance area after work.
CAUTION

If substances of this type are extracted, this may cause an environmental hazard.
- Dispose of extracted material as directed by regulations.
2.2 Spare parts and accessories
CAUTION

Spare parts and accessories. The use of non-original spare parts and accessories may adversely affect the safety of the device.
Use only original spare parts and accessories supplied by FLEX. Spare parts that are important for the health and safety of the operator or the function of the device are listed below:

CAUTION

This device is not suitable for use in potentially explosive or flammable environments or in environments where such hazards may arise due to volatile liquids or flammable gases or vapours.
3 Operation
3.1 Before initial operation
Unpack the device and check that there are no missing or damaged parts.
WARNING!

Danger of electrocution due to no earth connection!
- Use only antistatic devices.
3.2 Attaching the device to the dust extractor
The device is supplied with the Metabox system for mounting on ISP extractors, with Smartfix, Unifix adapter plates and all Metabox interfaces.
Alternatively, the device can also be set up on the floor or any area in the vicinity of the work area.
3.3 Direct attachment to dust extractors
The device can be directly attached to dust extractors with Metabox-compatible connections.
- Place the container on the dust extractor.
- Lock the closure clips to fix the container in position.
3.4 Disposal bag (optional)
If required, the device can be used with a PE disposal bag.
- Open the closure clips on the sides of the cyclone.
- If necessary, remove the installed PE bag or empty the container.
- Insert a new disposal bag into the container.
- Fold the bag over the edge of the container. Make sure that the holes are inside the device.

- Place the cyclone on the container.
- Lock the closure clips. Make sure that the clips do not damage the disposal bag.
3.5 Connecting the hose to the dust extractor and the tool
- Attach the connecting hose to the hose connection of the device and the suction inlet of the dust extractor.
- Connect the suction hose to the suction hose connection of the device and the suction connection of the power tool.
The connecting hose can be used with an adapter.
- Press the adapter onto the connecting hose and turn it anticlockwise at the same time.
- Pull the adapter from the connecting hose and turn it anticlockwise at the same time.
3.7 Commissioning
WARNING!

Health hazard due to hazardous dusts! - Observe safety instructions.
WARNING!

There is a risk of fire! Risk of explosion! Danger of electric shock! - Observe safety instructions.
- Make sure that all parts of the device are dry.
- For suction of soot, cement, plaster or similar dust: optionally insert the PE disposal bag into the dust container.
3.8 Removing the collected material
- Switch off the dust extractor.
- Wait a few minutes for the dust to settle.
- Wear a suitable respirator.
- Open the closure clips.
- Remove the top section of the device from the container.
- Tip out the container.
- Disposed of the collected material in accordance with the legal regulations.
3.9 Disposal of the PE disposal bag (optional)
- Switch off the dust extractor.
- Wait a few minutes for the dust to settle.
- Wear a suitable respirator.
- Remove the cyclone from the container.
- Carefully remove the disposal bag from the container.
- Carefully close the disposal bag with the cable clip attached to the bag.
- Disposed of the collected material in accordance with the legal regulations.
4 After use of the device
4.1 Transport
Attach the connecting hose to the two connection of the device. Transport the device with the hose connected in this way.
4.2 Cleaning
WARNING!

Danger due to incorrect cleaning! Devices that are not correctly maintained are a danger to the user.
- For operation in food-processing facilities: clean and disinfect the device immediately after use to prevent contamination.
- Do not use flammable cleaning agents.
- Do not clean with steam cleaners or pressure cleaners.
NOTE

Acids, acetone and solvents may damage the device.
- Clean the parts of the device with water.
- Wipe the top with a moist cloth.
- Allow container and accessories to dry.
4.3 Storage
CAUTION

Store the device in a dry environment protected from rain and freezing. This device must be stored inside a building.
4.4 Recycling the device
Ensure that the worn-out device is made unusable. Do not dispose of electrical devices with domestic waste.

Devices marked with the crossed-out rubbish bin symbol indicate that discarded electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of together with the unseparated domestic waste. The devices must be taken separately to the specified collection locations in order to prevent negative effects on human health and the environment.
Users of electrical and electronic domestic appliances must use the local government collection facilities. Please note that commercial electrical and electronic appliances must not be disposed of at local government collection facilities. We can inform you of suitable disposal options.
5 Troubleshooting and repairs
WARNING!

Incorrectly repaired dust extractors are a danger to the user!
• Repairs should only be made by qualified persons, such as customer service.
- Use only original spare parts.
NOTE

Malfunctions are not necessarily always due to faults in the device.
5.1 Removal of the cyclone plate
If the cyclone is blocked, the suction performance will be reduced. Remove blockage as follows:
- Pull the suction hose from the device.
- Remove the cyclone.
- Remove the red cyclone plate on the inside by unscrewing the three screws.
- Connect the suction hose to the dust extractor.
- Clean the cyclone by suction.
- Replace the cyclone plate.
- Replace the cyclone on the container.
- Connect the hoses.
6 Additional information
6.1 Limitation of liability
The manufacturer and representative are not liable for any damage and lost profit due to interruption in business caused by the product or by an unusable product.
