USER MANUAL SkyKettle M173SE Redmond
A26 Carefully read all instructions before operating the appliance and save them for future reference. By carefully following these instructions you can considerably prolong the service life of your appliance. The safety measures and instructions contained in this manual do not cover all possible situations that may arise during the operation of the appliance. When op- erating the device the user should be guided by common sense, be cautious and attentive. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
The manufacturer is not responsible for injuries caused by failure to comply with the safety re- quirements and operation rules of the appliance.
This appliance is intended to be used for nonin- dustrial use in house hold and similar spheres of application. Industrial application or any other misuse will be regarded as violation of proper service conditions. Should this happen, manufac- turer is not responsible for possible consequences.
Before plugging in the appliance ensure that the circuit voltage matches operating voltage of the appliance (see the technical specications or the manufacturer’s plate on the appliance).
Use an extension cord designed for the power consumption of the appliance as the parameter mismatch may result in a short circuit or a re outbreak.
Use only earthed electric sockets as this is an obligatory safety requirement. Use an earthed extension cord as well.
Unplug the appliance after use, while cleaning or moving. Remove the power cord with dry hands holding it by the plug, not cord. CAUTION! Appliance runs hot while operat- ing. Do not touch the housing while the ket- tle is operating. Do not lean over the appli- ance when the lid is on to avoid scalds. The heating element surface is subject to re- sidual heat after use.
Use the appliance for its intended purpose only. Do not misuse to avoid potential injury. Avoid spillage on the connector.
The kettle is used only with a specially designed base (included).
Do not place the cord in doorframes or by heat sources. Accidental damage to the power cord may cause electric shock or breakdown not covered by the terms of warranty. Promptly contact the service centre to have the damaged pow- er cord replaced. Do not place the appliance on soft, unstable surface.
Do not put the kettle on temperature-sensitive surface, do not cover the appliance while it is in operation as it may result in a fault or a break- down of the appliance.
Do not use the appliance outdoors as ingress of moisture or foreign objects inside the housing can result in damage.
Before cleaning the appliance ensure that it is unplugged and has cooled down. Follow the instructions while cleaning the device. DO NOT immerse the appliance in water or keep in running water!
Do not spill liquid on the connector.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
Keep the packaging (lm, foam plastic and other) out of reach of children as they may choke on them.
No modications or adjustments to the product are allowed. All service and repair works should be carried out by an authorized service centre. Failure to do so may result in device and prop- erty damage or injury. CAUTION! Do not use the appliance in case any breakdown has been noticed.8

Carefully take the appliance and its detachable parts out of the package. Remove all wrapping materials and stickers except for the serial number identica- tion sticker. Wipe the base of the appliance with a damp cloth, then let it dry. You may notice foreign smell when using the appliance for the rst time. This does not mean its malfunction. After the appliance transportation or storage at low temperature keep it at room temperature for at least two hours before plugging in. You are advised to boil water in the kettle a few times before the rst use to get foreign smell out and disinfect the appliance. To eliminate possible off-odours and dust, arisen upon manufacturing and storage, and also for appliance disinfection pour water into the kettle until maximum mark on the measuring scale and boil it. The Ready for Sky technology The Ready for Sky technology enables to use the software app of the same name to control the appliance remotely from a smartphone or tablet.
Download the software from the App Store or Google Play (depending on your operating system) onto your smartphone or tablet. For the minimum supported OS version, see the company’s ofcial website www. redmond.company or the application description at the App Store and Google Play.

appear on the screen.
Switch the kettle to the standby mode. Press and hold down “+” button before synchronization starts. An audible signal will be heard. During syn- chronization and indicators will be alternately lit up on the top of the display. Then the appliance will switch to the standby mode after the connection is complete. If within 10 seconds the connection won‘t be made, the appliance will switch to the standby mode.
To disable remote control feature press and hold down “–” button in the standby mode until an audible signal is heard. 1. Press . Water heating process will start. 100°С indicator will be lit on the
top of display. The current temperature value of water in the kettle is displayed at the bottom of the display.
2. After water comes to a boil an audible signal will be heard, 100°С indicator
will go out and the appliance will switch to the standby mode.
3. To interrupt the water heating process repress button or remove the kettle
from the base. Heating water without boiling This is the recommended mode for bottled artisan or ltered water. Water which has not been boiled retains its natural properties, which is particularly important when brewing premium teas. You may adjust the water heating temperature between 40°С and 90°С in 5°С interval.
Press . The button indicator will start blinking. The heating process will start, heating temperature value will appear on the top of the display (default temperature is 80°С).
2. Use “+” and “–” buttons to adjust the desired heating temperature value. The
temperature value indicator will start ashing. The appliance will save settings in a few seconds; the temperature value will be lit up solid.
3. After the desired temperature is reached an audible signal will be heard and

4. To interrupt the water heating process repress button and remove the kettle
from the base. If the temperature in the kettle is higher than the desired heating temperature the heating process won‘t be enabled. To switch to the „Heated boiling“ mode during heating process press button. Heated boiling This mode allows keeping the selected temperature (40-90°С) for up to 2 hours. Ifthe temperature will drop lower than the selected value, the heating element will be automatically enabled.

interval). It can also be adjusted while the kettle is in the heating mode. In a few seconds after the end of adjustment the temperature value on the top of display will switch to 100°С.

switch to the heating mode. The temperature value indicator and on the display will be lit up solid in this mode, and also indicator will be lit.
5. The appliance will automatically switch to standby mode in 2 hours.

The kettle is equipped with the system of auto shut-off upon boiling or remov- ing from the base.
- In case of lack of water in the kettle or water shortage the automatic overheat protection will be activated. An audible signal will be heard and the appliance will be automatically disconnected. and indicators will be displayed. To enable indication remove the kettle from the base. Wait till it completely cools down. Then the appliance will be ready for operation. Control panel lock To provide extra safety the appliance is equipped with control panel lock function. It prevents accidental pressing the buttons. To enable/disable the lock in the standby press “+” button, and, holding it, press button. An audible signal will be heard. If any button is pressed in the lock mode, “+” and button indicators will be lit on the control panel. Non-volatile memory The kettle is equipped with a non-volatile memory unit. In case temporary power cut occurs during water heating or boiling all user‘s settings are saved to the memory of the appliance. When power supply is resumed the kettle will automatically continue its operation.
III. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Unplug the kettle and allow it to cool before cleaning. DO NOT use a sponge or tissue with hard or abrasive surface or abrasive pastes. Do not use any chemically aggressive substances or any other agents which are not recommended for cleaning items that come into contact with food. ATTENTION! Before repeated usage make sure that the electrical contacts are kept dry! Base and body cleaning Clean the kettle body and base with a soft cloth. Dry the kettle before operation. ATTENTION! Never immerse the kettle, the base, the power cord or the socket in water: the electrical contacts should not contact with water. Descaling During operation, depending on the composition of usable water, oxide spots and scale can appear on the heating element and inner walls of the appliance. To remove them:
1. Pour water into the kettle ¾ from maximum capacity and bring it to a boil.
2. After the kettle turns off, add 8% acetic acid solution to the maximum level
on the inner surface of the body.
3. Leave this solution inside the kettle for several hours.
4. Empty the kettle and rinse properly.
5. Fill the kettle with clean water up to the maximum level on the inner surface
of the body and bring it to a boil.
6. Empty the kettle and rinse it again. If scale still remains, repeat the procedure
mentioned above. You can also use special means for descaling. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions in this case. To clean removable scale lter

Before repeated operation or storage completely dry all parts of the appliance. Store the assembled appliance in a dry, ventilated place away from heating appliances and direct sunlight. During transportation and storage, do not expose the device to mechanical stress, that may lead to damage of the device and/or violation of the package integrity. Keep the device package away from water and other liquids.
