General Power Tool Safety Warnings

WARNING

Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications.

tions provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Work area safety

  • Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or

dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical safety

Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving

parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

Power tool use and care

Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

Service

Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Hedge trimmer safety warnings

  • Keep all parts of the body away from the blade. Do not remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving. Blades continue to move after the

switch is turned off. A moment of inattention while operating the hedge trimmer may result in serious personal injury.

  • Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with the blade stopped and taking care not to operate any power switch. Proper carrying of the hedge trimmer will decrease the risk of inadvertent starting and resultant personal injury from the blades.
  • When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer, always fit the blade cover. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will decrease the risk of personal injury from the blades.
  • When clearing jammed material or servicing the unit, make sure all power switches are off and the power cord is disconnected. Unexpected actuation of the hedge trimmer while clearing jammed material or servicing may result in serious personal injury. Hold the hedge trimmer by insulated gripping surfaces only, because the blade may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Blades contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the hedge trimmer "live" and could give the operator an electric shock.
  • Keep all power cords and cables away from cutting area. Power cords or cables may be hidden in hedges or bushes and can be accidentally cut by the blade. Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad weather conditions, especially when there is a risk of lightning. This decreases the risk of being struck by lightning.

Additional safety warnings

This tool is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. When working with the machine, always hold it firmly with both hands and provide for a secure stance. The power tool is guided more secure with both hands. Always ensure all handles and guards are fitted when using the machine. Never attempt to use an incomplete machine or one fitted with an unauthorized modification. Always lubricate the cutting blade with protective spray before use. Always wait until the machine has come to a complete stop before placing it down. - Other persons and animals should remain at a distance of 3 metres or more when the machine is being used. The operator is responsible for third persons in the working area. Never grasp the blade of the hedge trimmer. Children or persons unfamiliar with these instructions must not operate the hedge trimmer. Local regulations may restrict the age of the operator.

Never cut a hedge while people, especially children or pets, are nearby. The user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property. Do not operate the hedge trimmer when barefoot or wearing open sandals; always wear substantial footwear and long trousers. The use of sturdy gloves, non-skid footwear, and safety glasses is recommended. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry which can be caught in moving parts. Thoroughly inspect the area where the hedge trimmer is to be used and remove all wires and other foreign objects. Prior to operation, check cutter blades, blade bolts, and cutter assembly for wear or damage. Do not operate with a damaged or excessively worn cutting device. Know how to stop the hedge trimmer quickly in an emergency. Cut a hedge only in daylight or in good artificial light. Never operate the hedge trimmer with defective guards or without the guard in place. Always ensure all handles and guards supplied are fitted when using the hedge trimmer. Never attempt to use an incomplete hedge trimmer or one with an unauthorized modification. Never hold the hedge trimmer by the guard. When operating the hedge trimmer, ensure to keep proper footing and balance at all times. Always be aware of your surroundings and stay alert for possible hazards that you may not hear whilst operating the hedge trimmer. Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight to ensure that the hedge trimmer is always in a safe working condition. The hedge trimmer should be stored in a dry, high or locked up place out of the reach of children. Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Do not attempt to repair the machine unless you are qualified to do so. Ensure replacement parts fitted are Bosch-approved. To safeguard against contact with the moving cutter blade, this hedge trimmer is constructed with two handles each with a blade control (switch). To operate the hedge trimmer, both controls must be actuated simultaneously. Do not use the tool if it runs without a switch being actuated or just one switch being actuated.

To switch ON, firstly press and hold the lock-off button for On/Off switch (3). Then press the On/Off switch (2) and keep it pressed.

To switch OFF, release the lock-off button for On/Off switch (3) and then release the On/Off switch (2).

Sawing Function

Although the tooth opening allows wood to be cut up to 0.20 mm, the tip of the blade is designed to cut wood up to 0.25 mm.

Working with the Hedgecutter (see figure E)

Move the hedgecutter evenly forward along the cutting line. The double edge cutting blade enables cutting in either direction, or with a side to side motion.

Cut the sides of the hedge first, then the top.

To cut the sides straightly, we recommend cutting from bottom to top in the direction of growth. Younger stems tend to move outwards when cutting them from top to bottom, resulting in shallow patches or holes in the hedge.

To reach a level finish, fasten a piece of string along the length of the hedge at the required height and use as an alignment guide. Cut the hedge just above the string.

Pay attention that no objects such as wires are cut. The blade or drive can be damaged.

General safety instructions for power tools

WARNING

Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all the instructions listed below

may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Work area safety

Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

The equipment is intended for use in household, commercial and public areas, and in light industrial areas, without continuous supervision by operating personnel.

Protect the power tool from rain and moisture. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. Do not use the cord for purposes other than its intended use.

Be attentive, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when working with a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating a power tool may result in serious personal injury. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts.

WARNING! In the event of interruptions in the operation of the power tool due to a drop or decrease in power supply or due to a break in the control circuit, set the switch to the off position. Make sure it is not locked (see figure). Disconnect the mains plug from the socket or disconnect the battery pack. This prevents uncontrolled restart. Operation of the power tool is permitted only for personnel who are familiar with the tool, its installation, commissioning, and maintenance, and who have read and understood this manual. Persons under 18 years of age are not allowed to operate the power tool unless they have studied the technical description, operating instructions, and safety rules.

This tool is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Working with the hedge trimmer (see Fig. E)

Move the hedge trimmer evenly along the cutting line. The double-sided blades ensure cutting in both directions for pendulum movements from side to side.

First cut the side edges of the hedge, then the top edge.

To obtain a flat surface on the sides, we recommend cutting in the direction of growth from bottom to top. Cutting from top to bottom causes thin branches to protrude outward and can lead to problems.

For an even cut of the top edge, stretch a guide line along the entire hedge at the desired height.

Make sure that no foreign objects, e.g. wire, get into the blade. The blade and drive may be damaged.

Safety instructions for jigsaws

Keep all parts of the body away from the cutting area. Never attempt to cut materials that are not intended for cutting, or to cut when the blade is moving. Always wait until the blade has stopped before removing the cut material. When using the jigsaw, be aware that the blade may cause serious injury. Hold the jigsaw by the insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a "live" wire will also make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock. Use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control. Keep your hands away from the cutting area. Never reach underneath the material. Do not use dull or damaged blades. Blades must be sharp and properly installed. Always use the correct blade for the material being cut. When cutting, always use the saw with the base plate firmly against the workpiece. Do not force the saw. Let the blade cut at its own pace. If the saw stalls, release the trigger and allow the blade to stop before withdrawing the saw from the cut. Do not use the saw without the base plate in place. Always wear safety glasses or goggles. Use a dust mask or respirator for applications that generate dust. Secure the workpiece before cutting. Never hold the workpiece in your hands or across your legs. Support the workpiece on a stable platform. Do not use the saw while standing on a ladder or other unstable surface. Do not operate the saw if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. Maintain power tools. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits, etc., in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

under voltage, may also cause metal parts of the jigsaw to become live and result in an electric shock.

Keep all cords and cables away from the cutting area. Cords or cables may be hidden in walls or floors and may be accidentally cut by the blade.

Do not use the jigsaw in bad weather conditions, especially during a thunderstorm. This reduces the risk of being struck by lightning.

Keep the hedge trimmer at a safe distance from the body. Do not attempt to remove cut plant material or hold the material being cut while the blades are moving. Make sure the switch is off before clearing jammed material. Blades continue to move after the tool is switched off. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury. Always hold the hedge trimmer by the handle, with the blades stopped, and be careful not to touch the blades. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce the risk of accidental injury from the blades. When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer, always fit the blade cover. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce the risk of injury from the blades. When clearing jammed material or performing maintenance, make sure the switch is off and the battery is removed.

The cutting attachment is not in contact. Accidental starting of the hedge trimmer while clearing jammed material or performing maintenance may cause serious injury.

Keep the hedge trimmer away from hidden wiring. The blade may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a live wire may make exposed metal parts live and could give the operator an electric shock. Keep the cutting attachment and the blade guard away from the cutting area. There may be hidden wiring or cables in hedges or bushes, and they could be cut by the blade if not careful.

Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad weather, especially during a lightning storm. This reduces the risk of being struck by lightning.

Additional safety instructions

The power tool must not be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Working advice

Although the machine allows the use of tools with a diameter of up to 20 mm, the upper guard is designed for tools up to 25 mm.

Working with the crosscut saw (see figure E)

Guide the crosscut saw evenly along the cutting line. The distance between the guides allows work in narrow spaces with oscillating movement left and right.

The crosscuts remain sharp, following the direction. For even cuts, we recommend working in the direction of the saw's rotation from top to bottom. When working from bottom to top, the blade tends to lift and form higher cutting edges or burrs.

To achieve a clean cut, adjust the blade so that it protrudes only slightly beyond the thickness of the workpiece.

Be careful not to cut into other objects, e.g., heating pipes. The blade and the oscillating mechanism can be damaged.

BOSCH UniversalHedgeCut 50 | 58 | 60 - AdvancedHedgeCut 65 | 68 |70 - Symbol meanings - 2

Keep the packaging for future reference.

Read all safety warnings and instructions.

WARNING

Read all safety warnings and all instructions provided with

this power tool. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all safety warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the safety warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Protective equipment such as

dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

Unplug the appliance before performing any maintenance. Check that the appliance is switched off before connecting it to the mains and/or battery, before removing or carrying it. After using electrical appliances, the switch-on of the appliance is only possible after the appliance is switched off, which may cause interruption. Remove any key for adjustment or the switch lock before switching on the electrical appliance. The switch lock or the key attached to the electrical appliance may lead to injury. Do not bypass the limiter. Always maintain proper posture and balance. This enables better control of the electrical appliance in unexpected situations.

Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Hair and clothing must be kept away from the working surfaces. Loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair may get caught in the working surfaces. If devices for dust extraction and collection are used, make sure they are properly connected and used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of the appliance make you careless and ignore safety rules. A moment of inattention can cause serious injury.

Use and care of electrical appliances

Do not force the electrical appliance. Use the correct electrical appliance for your application. The correct electrical appliance will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. Do not use the electrical appliance if it cannot be switched on and off with the switch. Any electrical appliance that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Disconnect the electrical appliance from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the electrical appliance. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of accidental starting of the electrical appliance. Store idle electrical appliances out of reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the electrical appliance or these instructions to operate it.

Electrical appliances are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

Check the power tool for any damage before use. Verify the correct operation or adjustment of the moving parts, the alignment of the parts, and any other conditions that may affect the operation of the power tool. If it is damaged, have the power tool repaired before using it. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. Keep the cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools are less likely to bind and are easier to control. Use the power tool, accessories, bits, etc., in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Using the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

Service

Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Safety rules for electric hedge trimmers

Keep all parts of your body away from the cutting blades. Do not remove cut material or hold material being cut when the blades are moving. The blades continue to move after the tool is switched off. A moment of inattention while operating the hedge trimmer may result in serious personal injury. Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with the blades stopped, and take care not to operate the power switch. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce the risk of accidental starting and injury. When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer, always fit the blade cover. Proper handling of the tool will reduce the risk of injury. Ensure that the switch is in the off position and the battery is removed before attempting to remove jammed material. Accidental starting of the trimmer while removing jammed material may result in serious injury.

Keep the blades away from your body and ensure that the power cord is not in contact with the blades. If the electric blades come into contact with a live wire, an electric shock may occur. Keep all cables away from the cutting area. There may be hidden live wires in the ground, and accidental contact with the blades could cause a shock. Do not use the trimmer in bad weather, especially when there is a risk of lightning. This will reduce the likelihood of being struck by lightning.
