EN Instruction on mounting and use

Closely follow the instructions set out in this manual. All responsibility, for any eventual inconveniences, damages or fires caused by not complying with the instructions in this manual, is declined. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: - staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; - farm houses; - by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; - bed and breakfast type environments.

Note: The parts marked with the symbol (*) are optional accessories supplied only with some models or otherwise not supplied, but available for purchase.

Caution

  • Before any cleaning or maintenance operation, disconnect the hood from the mains by removing the plug or disconnecting the mains electrical supply.
  • Always wear work gloves for all installation and maintenance operations.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not be allowed to tamper with the controls or play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • The premises where the appliance is installed must be sufficiently ventilated, when the kitchen hood is used together with other gas combustion devices or other fuels.

The use of exposed flames is detrimental to the filters and may cause a fire risk, and must therefore be avoided in all circumstances.

Any frying must be done with care in order to make sure that the oil does not overheat and ignite.

CAUTION: Accessible parts of the hood may become hot when used with cooking appliances.

  • Do not connect the appliance to the mains until the installation is fully complete.
  • With regards to the technical and safety measures to be adopted for fume discharging it is important to closely follow the regulations provided by the local authorities.
  • The air must not be discharged into a flue that is used for exhausting fumes from appliance burning gas or other fuels.
  • Do not use or leave the hood without the lamp correctly mounted due to the possible risk of electric shocks.
  • Never use the hood without effectively mounted grids.
  • The hood must NEVER be used as a support surface unless specifically indicated.
  • Use only the fixing screws supplied with the product for installation or, if not supplied, purchase the correct screws type.
  • Use the correct length for the screws which are identified in the Installation Guide.
  • In case of doubt, consult an authorized service assistance center or similar qualified person.

Use

The hood is designed to be used either for exhausting or filter version.

Ducting version

The hood is equipped with a top air outlet B for discharge of fumes to the outside (exhaust pipe and pipe fixing clamps not provided).

Attention! If the hood is supplied with carbon filter, then it must be removed.

Filter version

In the case of not being able to discharge the fumes and the steam of cooking outside, the hood in the filter version can be used mounting the F deflector on the flue and one or more carbon filters (on the basis of the model possessed). The fumes and steam are recycled into the kitchen through upper grill H.

Attention! If the hood is not supplied with carbon filter,

then it must be ordered and mounted.

The models with no suction motor only operate in ducting mode, and must be connected to an external suction device (not supplied).

The connecting instructions are supplied with the peripheral suction unit.

The minimum distance between the supporting surface for the cooking equipment on the hob and the lowest part of the range hood must be not less than 50 cm from electric cookers and 65 cm from gas or mixed cookers.

If the instructions for installation for the gas hob specify a greater distance, this must be adhered to.

Electrical connection

The mains power supply must correspond to the rating indicated on the plate situated inside the hood. If provided with a plug connect the hood to a socket in compliance with current regulations and positioned in an accessible area, after installation. If it not fitted with a plug (direct mains connection) or if the plug is not located in an accessible area, after installation, apply a double pole switch in accordance with standards which assures the complete disconnection of the mains under conditions relating to over-current category III, in accordance with installation instructions.

WARNING!

Before re-connecting the hood circuit to the mains supply and checking the efficient function, always check that the mains cable is correctly assembled.

Mounting

Expansion wall plugs are provided to secure the hood to most types of walls/ceilings. However, a qualified technician must verify suitability of the materials in accordance with the type of wall/ceiling. The wall/ceiling must be strong enough to take the weight of the hood.

Do not tile, grout or silicone this appliance to the wall. Surface mounting only.

Operation

The hood is fitted with a control panel with aspiration speed selection control and a light switch to control cooking area lights.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Clean using ONLY a cloth dampened with neutral liquid detergent. DO NOT CLEAN WITH TOOLS OR

INSTRUMENTS. Do not use abrasive products. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!

Grease filter

The grease filter must be cleaned once a month using non aggressive detergents, either by hand or in the dishwasher, which must be set to a low temperature and a short cycle.

When washed in a dishwasher, the grease filter may discolor slightly, but this does not affect its filtering capacity.

To remove the grease filter, pull the spring release handle.

Charcoal filter (filter version only)

It absorbs unpleasant odors caused by cooking.

The saturation of the charcoal filter occurs after more or less prolonged use, depending on the type of cooking and the regularity of cleaning of the grease filter.

In any case it is necessary to replace the cartridge at least every four months.

The charcoal filter may NOT be washed or regenerated.

Remove the grease filters.

Fit the charcoal filters over the motor.

Align the pins R on the cowl with the slots S, then turn the filter clockwise until it locks in place.

Reverse the above procedure to remove the charcoal filters.

Refit the grease filters.

Replacing lamps

Disconnect the appliance from the electricity.

Warning! Prior to touching the light bulbs ensure they are cooled down.

Remove cover A to access the lamp housing A.

Replace the damaged lamp.

Use E14 3W max LED lamps only. For more details, check enclosed leaflet "ILCOS D" (alfanumeric position "1d").

If the lights do not work, make sure that the lamps are fitted properly into their housings before you call for technical assistance.

On some models ONLY:

A Non Return Backdraft Damper is included in the supply, as optional accessory to be installed under certain installation conditions (i.e. if there is no protection against accidental backdraft of air from the outside). The damper must be installed inside the dedicated housing, inside of the Air Outlet Fitting, before installing the flue.

WARNING: To avoid the risk of fire, the appliance must be kept under observation at all times.

CAUTION: When the appliance is in operation, accessible parts of the extractor may become hot.

Do not connect the appliance to the mains until installation is completely finished.

  • The extractor must never be used as a support surface unless this is specifically indicated. - During installation, use only the fixing screws supplied with the appliance.

Purchase suitable bulbs.

  • Use bulbs of suitable wattage, as specified in the instruction leaflet.
  • When using the appliance, please contact an authorized service center for technical maintenance or qualified personnel.

Use

Aspirators with filter are intended for: connection to the ventilation duct, simultaneously with the cooker hood.

Aspirating version

The aspirators are equipped with an opening "B" in the upper part through an air outlet grille (the exhaust pipe accessory is not included).

Attention! If the aspirator is equipped with a filter with active carbon, it must be replaced.

Filter version.

In case it is not possible to connect the hood to the ventilation duct, you can use the aspirator in the filter version by mounting the carbon filter in the ventilation duct and using one or more filters with active carbon (depending on your model). For this purpose, the hood and the duct are connected at the upper ventilation grille.

Attention! If the aspirator is not equipped with a filter with active carbon, it must be installed before using the appliance.

The models without aspirating motor are intended for operation only in the aspirating version and must be connected to a peripheral aspirating unit, which is purchased separately.

The connection instructions are supplied together with the peripheral aspirating unit.

The minimum distance between the surface on which the cooking vessels are placed and the lower part of the kitchen aspirator must be not less than 50 cm in the case of electric cookers and not less than 65 cm in the case of gas or combined cookers.

If the instructions for the gas cooker specify a greater distance, this must be taken into account.

! Electrical connection

Before connecting to the mains, check that the voltage corresponds to that indicated on the rating plate of the aspirator, located on its inner side. If it is equipped with a plug for connection to the socket, the corresponding safety standards must be observed at the installation site. If it is not equipped with a plug (direct connection to the mains), the plug must not be accessible.

Before installation, use a two-pole switch to disconnect the appliance from the mains, so that it is completely disconnected from the power supply during installation, in accordance with the installation rules.

WARNING!

Before connecting the hood to the mains and checking that it functions properly, check that the cable is installed as required.

INSTALLATION

For all this, we recommend that you consult a qualified technician to ensure that the supplied accessories are suitable for the wall. The wall, according to the table, must be sufficiently stable to support the load.

Clean it every month with neutral detergents. It can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher at low temperature and short wash cycle.

Exhaust air version

The hood is equipped with a top exhaust outlet for discharging fumes outside (exhaust air version - the exhaust pipe and clamps are included in the kit).

Air recirculation mode

If the evacuation of fumes and vapors from the kitchen is impossible, you can use the hood in recirculation mode by installing one or more charcoal filters (depending on your model); in this case, the filtered air is recirculated into the room through the upper grille.

Warning! If the hood is not equipped with a charcoal filter, install it before use.

Hood models without a motor block can operate in a single air extraction mode, so they must be connected to an external extraction unit (not supplied).

Installation instructions are supplied with the peripheral extraction unit.

The distance between the lower edge of the hob and the supporting surface of the hood must be at least 50 cm for electric hobs, and at least 65 cm for gas or combined hobs.

If the installation instructions for the gas hob specify a greater distance, respect that.

! Electrical connection

The mains voltage must match the voltage indicated on the technical data plate, which is located inside the hood. If the hood is equipped with a plug, connect it to a suitable socket. It must comply with current regulations and be placed in an accessible location. The socket can be switched on after installation. If the hood is not equipped with a plug (direct connection to the mains) or if the socket is not accessible after installation, use a two-pole switch that ensures complete disconnection from the mains under overvoltage category III conditions, in accordance with installation instructions.

Before connecting the hood to the electrical power supply, check that it is functioning properly.

Its operation depends on the power cable being correctly connected.

Installation

The hood is supplied with dowels for fixing it to most walls/ceilings. However, it is necessary to contact a qualified technician to ensure that the materials of the wall/ceiling are suitable for this type of wall/ceiling.
