Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

- Ensure that the rated voltage on the type plate corresponds to the mains voltage of your power supply.

- Do not pull the mains plug out of the socket by the connection cable.

- Check the cable pull and the control unit regularly for damage.

- Check the mains voltage of the socket to see if it matches the voltage on the type plate.

- Check that the hook moves in the same direction as the button on the control is pressed.

• Always be attentive when operating the product.

- Do not leave suspended loads unattended without having taken appropriate safety precautions.

- The maximum speed specified on the cable pull may not be exceeded.

- It is not permitted to lift stuck or jammed loads.

- It is prohibited to lift people with the cable pull.

- Do not pull loads sideways and avoid swinging.

- The steel cable must be taut when the load is lifted.

- If the device cannot lift a load, the weight is greater than the maximum load capacity. Do not press the control switch any further.

SCHEPPACH HRS500 - Warning! - 1

DANGER

  • The square beam (cross-section dimensions: 45 x 45 mm) must be able to bear at least twice the nominal load of the cable hoist at the mounting position of the product. It is recommended to consult a qualified professional (e.g. a structural engineer) for installation.
  • As specialised knowledge is required, consult a qualified technician to ensure that all screws are fully and correctly tightened.
  • A qualified technician or a suitably trained person should also check the anchoring of the square beam before the product is attached.

9.1 Mounting the cable hoist on the square beam (Fig. 3)

  1. Attach the cable hoist (2) to a suitable square beam (not included in the scope of delivery) using the two spring washers (1), 4x M8 hexagon head bolts (A), 4x M8 lock washers (B) and 4x M8 washers (C).
  2. The dimensions of the tube must match the size of the mounting bracket (1).

9.2 Use as a pulley block hoist (Fig. 5, 6, 7, 9)

Tool required:

1x Pad*

1x 10 mm* open-ended spanner

1x Slotted-head screwdriver*

2x 13mm* open-ended spanner

*not included in the scope of delivery!

When arranged as a pulley block hoist, the load is distributed over 2 steel cables. That is why it can lift twice the weight. The maximum lifting height and speed are halved.

  1. The fixed hook (11) must be hooked into the mounting hole (17). The steel cable (13) forms a loop (Fig. 5).
  2. Remove the deflection roller (10) of the additional hook (9). Remove the 3 screws (Fig. 6).
  3. Hang the deflection roller (10) in the loop of the steel cable (13) (Fig. 7).

  4. Mount the screws and the additional hook (9) on the deflection roller (10). Tighten the 3 screws firmly (Fig. 8). NOTE! Tighten the screws only enough to allow the deflection roller (10) and the hook (11) to still move.

  5. The pulley block hoist can now be used (Fig. 9).
  6. When arranging the cable pull, please proceed in reverse order.

10. Start-up

⚠ Attention!

Always make sure the product is fully assembled before commissioning!

Ensure that the steel cable is correctly wound on the drum and that there is no space between the turns (Fig. 11).

Ensure that the steel cable is not damaged (Fig. 12).

10.1 Unreeling/reeling up the cable (Fig 10)

  1. Reeling up the cable: Push the control switch (7) up in the direction of the arrow.
  2. Unreeling the cable: Press the control switch (7) down in the direction of the arrow.

10.2 Raising the load

  1. Lower the steel cable (13) so that you can work comfortably.
  2. Attach the load to the hook (11) or additional hook (9). The centre of gravity of the load must be under the product.
  3. Roll up the steel cable (13) so that it is initially only taut. Then raise the load completely.

10.3 Automatic stop bar (Fig. 4)

NOTE! The automatic stop bars (upward movement and downward movement 14 & 15) are not intended for regular stopping of the product. Always try to stop the product before it triggers one of the automatic stop bars.

  1. Upwards movement: When the steel cable (13) is fully reeled up, the automatic stop bar (upwards movement) (14) is activated. The steel cable (13) cannot be reeled up any further and can only be unreeled.
  2. Downwards movement: When the steel cable (13) has completely unreeled, the automatic stop bar (downward movement) (15) is activated. The steel cable (13) cannot be unreeled any further and can only be reeled up.

10.4 EMERGENCY STOP switch (Fig. 10)

  1. In an emergency, press the emergency stop switch (6) to stop the lifting and lowering process.
  2. The product is then blocked.
  3. Unlock the product by turning the emergency stop switch (6) clockwise (in the direction of the arrow) until it pops out again.

11. Electrical connection

The electrical motor installed is connected and ready for operation. The connection complies with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions.

The customer's mains connection as well as the extension cable used must also comply with these regulations.

Damaged electrical connection cable

The insulation on electrical connection cables is often damaged.

This may have the following causes:

  • Pressure points, where connection cables are passed through windows or doors
  • Kinks where the connection cable has been improperly fastened or routed
  • Places where the connection cables have been cut due to being driven over
    • Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the wall socket
    • Cracks due to the insulation ageing

Such damaged electrical connection cables must not be used and are life-threatening due to the insulation damage.

Check the electrical connection cables for damage regularly. Ensure that the connection cables are disconnected from electrical power when checking for damage.

Electrical connection cables must comply with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions. Only use connection cables of the same designation.

The printing of the type designation on the connection cable is mandatory.

For single-phase AC motors, we recommend a fuse rating of C 16A or K 16A for products with a high starting current (from 3000 watts)!

Connection type Y

If it is necessary to replace the mains connection cable, this must be done by the manufacturer or their representative to avoid safety hazards.

12. Cleaning

Danger!

Pull out the mains plug before carrying out any cleaning work.

  • Keep protective devices, air vents and the motor housing as free of dust and dirt as possible. Rub the product clean with a clean cloth or blow it off with compressed air at low pressure.
    • We recommend that you clean the product directly after every use.
  • Clean the product at regular intervals using a damp cloth and a little soft soap. Do not use any cleaning products or solvents; they could attack the plastic parts of the product.
Make sure that no water can penetrate the interior of the product. Water penetration increases the risk of an electric shock.

13. Storage

The optimum storage temperature is between 5 and 30°C.

Store the product in its original packaging. Cover the product to protect it from dust or moisture. Store the operating instructions with the product.

14. Maintenance

The interior of the product has no further internal parts that require maintenance.

Test interval Process
Before each useCheck that the emergency stop switch (6) and the control switch (7) are working properly.
Every 30 cycles*Check the entire steel cable (13) for damage (Fig. 12). Replace a damaged steel cable.
Every 100 cycles*Check the functioning of the stop bars (14, 15) without load.
Every 200 cycles*Lubricate the steel cable (13) and the deflection roller (10).
Every 800 cycles*Check that all screws are firmly seated. Check the entire product for wear and tear.
* One cycle corresponds to one upward and downward movement of a load

15. Repair & ordering spare parts

After repairs or maintenance, make sure that all safety-related parts are installed and are in perfect condition. All parts which may cause injury must be kept where they are inaccessible to children or others.

Attention: According to the German Product Liability Act, no liability is accepted for damage caused by improper repairs or by not using original spare parts.

Such work should be performed by a customer service centre or an authorised specialist. The same applies to accessory parts.

Spare parts and accessories can be obtained from our Service Centre. To do this, scan the QR code on the front page.
