Warning: The blade continues to move

after the product is switched off. Keep hands away from blade. General Power Tool Safety Warnings WARNING Read all safety warnings, instruc- tions, illustrations and specifica- tions provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all in- structions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/ or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains- operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cord- less) power tool. Work area safety u Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. u Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. u Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. Electrical safety u Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. u Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded sur- faces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerat- ors. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. u Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of elec- tric shock. u Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carry- ing, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. u When operating a power tool outdoors, use an exten- sion cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suit- able for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. u If operating a power tool in a damp location is un- avoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protec- ted supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock. Personal safety u Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inatten- tion while operating power tools may result in serious per- sonal injury. u Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection F 016 L81 893 | (09.12.2019) Bosch Power ToolsEnglish | 11 used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal in- juries. u Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or en- ergising power tools that have the switch on invites acci- dents. u Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal in- jury. u Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. u Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jew- ellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. u If devices are provided for the connection of dust ex- traction and collection facilities, ensure these are con- nected and properly used. Use of dust collection can re- duce dust-related hazards. u Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe in- jury within a fraction of a second. Power tool use and care u Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was de- signed. u Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. u Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or re- move the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing ac- cessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. u Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. u Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for mis- alignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. u Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly main- tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. u Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into ac- count the working conditions and the work to be per- formed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. u Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations. Battery tool use and care u Recharge only with the charger specified by the manu- facturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of bat- tery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. u Use power tools only with specifically designated bat- tery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire. u When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. u Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally oc- curs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, addi- tionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the bat- tery may cause irritation or burns. u Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury. u Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excess- ive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130°C may cause explosion. u Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire. Service u Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. u Never service damaged battery packs. Service of bat- tery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers. Hedge trimmer safety warnings u Keep all parts of the body away from the blade. Do not remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving. Blades continue to move after the switch is turned off. A moment of inattention while oper- ating the hedge trimmer may result in serious personal in- jury. u Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with the blade stopped and taking care not to operate any power Bosch Power Tools F 016 L81 893 | (09.12.2019)12 | English switch. Proper carrying of the hedge trimmer will de- crease the risk of inadvertent starting and resultant per- sonal injury from the blades. u When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer, al- ways fit the blade cover. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will decrease the risk of personal injury from the blades. u When clearing jammed material or servicing the unit, make sure all power switches are off and the power cord is disconnected. Unexpected actuation of the hedge trimmer while clearing jammed material or servi- cing may result in serious personal injury. u Hold the hedge trimmer by insulated gripping sur- faces only, because the blade may contact hidden wir- ing. Blades contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the hedge trimmer "live" and could give the operator an electric shock. u Keep all power cords and cables away from cutting area. Power cords or cables may be hidden in hedges or bushes and can be accidentally cut by the blade. u Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad weather condi- tions, especially when there is a risk of lightning. This decreases the risk of being struck by lightning. (triax vector sum) and uncertainty K determined according to EN 62841-4-2:

The vibration level and noise emission value given in these instructions have been measured in accordance with a standardised measuring procedure and may be used to com- pare power tools. They may also be used for a preliminary estimation of vibration and noise emissions. The stated vibration level and noise emission value repres- ent the main applications of the power tool. However, if the power tool is used for other applications, with different ap- plication tools or is poorly maintained, the vibration level and noise emission value may differ. This may significantly increase the vibration and noise emissions over the total working period. To estimate vibration and noise emissions accurately, the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually being used should also be taken into account. This may significantly reduce vibration and noise emissions over the total working period. Implement additional safety measures to protect the oper- ator from the effects of vibration, such as servicing the power tool and application tools, keeping their hands warm, and organising workflows correctly. Starting Operation u Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. Only these battery chargers are matched to the lithium-ion bat- tery of your product. Battery Charging (see figure B) Note: The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure full battery capacity, completely charge the battery in the battery charger before using for the first time. The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging procedure does not damage the battery. The “Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)” protects the lithium- ion battery against deep discharging. When the battery is discharged, the machine is switched off by means of a pro- tective circuit: The garden product no longer operates. Note: The micro-USB port (11) for connection of the micro- USB cable (9) is in the handle. When the charger level indicator (1) lights up red, the bat- tery must be charged. Switch the machine off and charge the battery. Connect the machine to the charger (10) using the micro- USB cable (9). Plug the charger (10) into the socket. The charging process begins. F 016 L81 893 | (09.12.2019) Bosch Power ToolsEnglish | 15 During the charging procedure, the handle of the machine warms up. This is normal. The charger level indicator (1) continuously lights up red during the charging procedure. When the battery is com- pletely charged, the charger level indicator (1) goes out. Disconnect the battery charger from the mains supply when charging process ends. Observe the notes for disposal. Mounting/Removing the Blade (see figures C) Press the release button (12) and slide the cover (5) toward the rear. Remove the cover (5) from the housing. Tilt the blade (6)/(7) upward and then remove the blade (6)/(7). Align the recesses on the blade (6)/(7) against the holding pins and then tilt the blade (6)/(7) downward. Mount the cover (5) again and then slide it toward the front until it engages. Operation u Make sure that the cover of the USB port (2) is shut dur- ing operation. Switching On and Off (see figure D) Press and hold the lock-off button (4) and actuate the On/ Off switch (3). Release the lock-off button (4). When actuating the On/Off switch (3), the LED continuously lights up green. Battery Charge Indicator LED Capacity LED continuously lights up green 33−100% LED continuously lights up red while On/Off switch is halfway pressed. 0−33% Cutting Shrubs (only Shrub Shear) u Make sure that the product is switched off when removing cut-off material or during maintenance. Unintentional switching on may cause serious injury. Before cutting check the hedge/shrub for foreign objects e.g. wire fences. Cut stems up to 8 mm in thickness. When cutting, move the product steadily along the line of cut, so that stems are fed directly into the cutter blades. The double edge of the cut- ting blade enables cutting to either direction, or with a side to side motion. After use, mount the blade guard. Recommended times Cut hedges with deciduous leaves in June and October. Cut evergreen hedges in April and August. Cut conifer and other fast growing shrubs approx. every six weeks from May onwards. Cutting Edges (only Grass Shear) Guide the product along the edge of the lawn. Prevent the blade from coming into contact with paved paths, stones or garden walls because this significantly reduces the lifetime of the blade. After use, mount the blade guard.
