Dowel holes in the frame are optional to choose. In the threshold area, you have the following options: Threshold rail with floor recess The bottom spacer profile later disappears in the screed. Threshold rail without floor recess Unscrew the bottom spacer profile and fasten the threshold rail profile on site. Observe the following during fitting:

  • Establish a secure connection with the building structure.
  • Check that the fixing materials supplied are suitable for the given structural conditions.
  • Always obtain the permission of the structural engineer before fastening the side door to supporting structural elements.
  • Ensure adequate water run-off in the area of the bottom seal and the frame parts, otherwise there is danger of corrosion (see Technical Manual).
  • Ensure sufficient drying and ventilation in the building, otherwise there is danger of corrosion.
  • The side door must be effectively protected before carrying out any plastering or paintwork, as splashing mortar, cement, plaster, paint, etc. may damage the surface.
  • Protect the side door from caustic, aggressive substances, e.g. nitrous reactions from stones or mortar, acids, alkali solutions, de-icing salt, aggressive paints or sealants, otherwise there is a danger of corrosion. 4 Inspection and Maintenance

ATTENTION Oil on the profile cylinder The locking function of the profile cylinder can be compromised by the use of oil.

Never use oil for the profile cylinder.

The door hinges are maintenance-free. ATTENTION Greasing of the hinges If door hinges are greased, the bearings will wear out.

Never grease the door hinges. 5 Cleaning and Care

Clear water is sufficient for cleaning and care. Use warm water together with a neutral, non-abrasive cleaning agent (household detergent, pH value 7) if more heavily soiled.

Clean the surface at least every 3 months to maintain the surface properties. ATTENTION Scratches on the panes due to improper cleaning Rubbing the panes causes scratches.

Dirt and dust particles must first be thoroughly rinsed off with water. If necessary, only wash with water, apH-neutral household detergent and a soft, clean cloth.

3 080 814 RE / 06.2019 ENGLISHA wide variety of environmental effects (e.g. sea climate, acids, de-icing salt, air pollution, paint damage) may necessitate additional protective painting of the door infill (see Paint treatment on page9). ATTENTION Damage from waterless cleaning Waterless cleaning damages the surface.

Never clean the surfaces without water.

Rinse off any dirt and dust particles with clear water before rubbing off.

Perform upkeep on the lock and the lock cylinder 1 to 2 times per year, so that the door can be easily and quietly closed:

Grease the rear side of the lock latch with Vaseline.

Spray a special profile cylinder care product into the lock channel (available in specialised shops). 6 Damage remedy

The door infill comes with a polyester primer-coating. Ifyouwould like to paint the door infill in a different colour, or if renovation painting or additional protective painting isrequired:

  • Lightly sand the surface with fine sand paper (at least 180 grain size).
  • Clean with water, dry and remove any grease
  • Treat further with commercially available synthetic resin paints suitable for outdoor applications. Dark colours should be avoided for double-skinned doors and doors with thermal break. Follow the directions of the paint manufacturer! NOTE The leaf frame and frame are made of weather-resistant aluminium profiles and thus cannot be painted. 7 Dismantling Dismantle the side door in accordance with these fitting instructions in the logically correct reverse order. 8 Declaration of performance Declaration of performance see: Data label 3 080 814 RE / 06.2019
