Frequently Asked Questions - ALC 2/1-G/R Flex

How to turn the device on and off?
Press the On/Off button (3) to turn on the device. After turning on, all laser beams are active and Indoor mode is activated. To turn off, press the same button again. When off, the self-leveling mechanism is locked.
What do the LEDs on the control panel mean?
The LEDs (3 and 4) indicate the environment mode. Green means self-leveling is active. Red means the self-leveling range is exceeded (±4°) or self-leveling is off/locked. Flashing red means low battery.
How to select the laser projection mode?
Use the projection selection button (1) on the control panel. Each press changes the mode: 1x horizontal beam, 2x vertical beam, 3x horizontal and vertical beams with self-leveling off, 4x horizontal and vertical beams with self-leveling on (standard mode).
What is the difference between Indoor and Outdoor modes?
Indoor mode is used for short distances with normal brightness; the beam is continuous. Outdoor mode is for high brightness; the beam is pulsed, slightly darker. Use the switch button (2) to toggle.
How to recharge the battery?
Use the provided USB cable and a USB charger (5V/1A power adapter recommended). Connect the cable to the USB port (7) on the device and to a power source. The runtime is 4 to 10 hours depending on usage.
What is the accuracy of the laser level?
The accuracy is ±0.3 mm/m for horizontal and vertical beams. The operating range is 50 m.
How to check the accuracy of the horizontal beam?
Refer to the illustrated pages of the manual (page 160). The typical method is to measure the height difference between two distant points. If the accuracy is out of tolerance, take the device to an authorized after-sales service.
What safety instructions must be followed?
Never point the laser beam at people or animals. Do not look into the source. Avoid explosive environments. Use only original spare parts. Do not let children use without supervision.
How to maintain and clean the device?
Clean with a soft dry cloth. Avoid moisture, dust, and sand. Store the device in its protective bag when not in use. Only have it repaired by qualified personnel.
What to do in case of malfunction?
First check the battery (flashing red LED). If the device does not turn on, charge the battery. If the problem persists, contact an authorized Flex after-sales service. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.

Laser radiation

Do not stare into beam.

Product of laser class 2; maximum output power ≤ 1 mW; wave length λ = 520 nm; EN 60825-1:2014

Laser classification

The device complies with laser class 2, based on the standard IEC 60825-1/EN 60825.

The eye is protected by the lid closure reflex if somebody accidentally glances into the laser beam. However, this lid protection reflex may be impaired by medication, alcohol or drugs.

These devices may be used without further protective measures if it can be ensured that no optical instruments reduce the cross-section of the beam.

Do not aim laser beam at people.

Flex ALC 2/1-G/R - Laser classification - 1

Electromagnetic compatibility

Even though the device satisfies the strict requirements of the relevant directives, the possibility cannot be excluded that the device

- will disrupt other devices (e.g. aircraft navigation systems) or

- will be disrupted by powerful radiation, possibly resulting in a wrong operation.

In these cases or other uncertainties, check measurements should be carried out.

For your safety

Intended use

This line laser is designed for commercial use in industry and trade.

The device is designed to determine, transfer and check horizontal height profiles, vertical lines, building lines, perpendicular points and right angles, e.g.:

– to transfer rule and height marks,

- to mark partitions (vertical and/or at right angles) and

- align equipment and elements in three axes.
