This appliance can be used for:
Cleaning of machines, motor vehicles, build- ings, windows, tools, façades, terraces, garden tools, garden furniture, toys, mountain bikes, sports equipment, driveways, boats, surf- boards, diving equipment, camping, fishing and hunting equipment, garages, balconies.
Watering. The appliance may only be operated with ap- proved accessories. The appliance can be operated with water from the domestic water network, from open vessels (e.g. rain barrel, pond) or from PET containers. Only work with the appliance when it is fully as- sembled. This appliance is intended solely for use in non- commercial applications. Any other use (as well as unauthorised conversions or add-ons) are re- garded as contrary to the intended use and will result in exclusion of the warranty as well as loss of conformity (CE mark); the manufacturer will thus decline any responsibility for damage and/or injury suffered by the user or third parties.
2.2 Possible foreseeable misuse
The tool is designed neither for commercial use in public parks and sports facilities, nor for use in farming and forestry. Above all, note:
Do not use the appliance on objects that are not moisture-proof.

3.1 Safety information
regarding the rechargeable battery This section mentions all the ba- sic safety instructions to beGB 22 PW 2040 Safety instructions heeded when using the re- chargeable battery. Read these instructions.
Remove the rechargeable battery from the power tool before starting any work on the power tool (e.g. mainte- nance, tool change), before transport and before storage.
Only use the rechargeable battery as designated, i.e. for AL-KO rechargeable battery- driven appliances. Only charge the rechargeable bat- tery with the AL-KO charging unit provided.
Only unpack the new re- chargeable battery from the original packaging when it is to be used.
Fully charge the rechargeable battery before using it for the first time and always use the specified charging unit. Com- ply with the details given in these instructions for use for charging the rechargeable battery.
Do not use the rechargeable battery in environments where there is a potential risk of ex- plosion and/or fire.
Do not expose the recharge- able battery to moisture and humidity when in use with the appliance.
Protect the rechargeable bat- tery from heat, oil and fire to prevent it being damaged so no vapours and electrolyte liq- uids can escape. There is a danger of explosion!
Do not subject the recharge- able battery to impacts or throw it.
Do not use the rechargeable battery when soiled or wet. Before use, clean and dry the rechargeable battery with a dry, clean cloth.
When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from oth- er metal objects to prevent bridging the contacts (e.g. pa- per clips, coins, keys, nails, screws). Do not use sharp ob- jects (e.g. a screwdriver) to work on the battery. This can cause an internal short circuit which can lead to overheat- ing, fire or explosion of the battery.
Do not open, dismantle or crush the rechargeable bat- tery. There is a danger of elec- tric shock and short-circuit.
An improperly used and dam- aged rechargeable battery can cause vapours and elec- trolyte liquid to escape. Vent the room adequately and in the case of any disorders,442923_a 23 Assembly and starting operation consult a doctor. If accidental contact with elec- trolyte liquid occurs, flush with water and thoroughly rinse the eyes immediately. Then con- sult a doctor.
This rechargeable battery must not be used by unautho- rised persons unless they are supervised by a person re- sponsible for their safety or have been instructed on how to use the rechargeable bat- tery. Unauthorised persons in- clude, for example:
Persons (including chil- dren) with limited physical, sensory or mental aptitude.
Persons who have no ex- perience and/or knowledge of the rechargeable battery.
Children must be supervised and instructed so they do not play with the rechargeable battery.
Do not leave the rechargeable battery permanently in the charger. For prolonged stor- age, remove the rechargeable battery from the charger.
When not in use, remove the rechargeable batteries from the operated appliances.
Dry the unused rechargeable battery and store in a closed place. Protect from heat and direct sunlight. Unauthorised persons and children must not have access to the recharge- able battery.

4.1 Charging the rechargeable battery

4.2 Inserting and pulling out the
rechargeable battery (02) IMPORTANT! Danger of damage to the re- chargeable battery. If the rechargeable battery is left in the appliance after use, it may damage the rechargeable battery.
Immediately after use, pull the rechargeable battery out of the appliance and store in a frost-protected area.
Only insert the rechargeable battery in the appliance immediately before starting work. Inserting the rechargeable battery
1. Push the rechargeable battery (02/1) into the
battery slot until it engages (02/a). Pull out the rechargeable battery

4.3.1 High-pressure cleaning lance (03)
1. Align the lug of high-pressure cleaning lance
(03/1) with the opening of high-pressure noz- zle (03/2).
2. Insert (03/a) high-pressure cleaning lance
(03/1) into high-pressure nozzle (03/2).
3. Twist (03/b) high-pressure cleaning lance
(03/1) until it engages.

Fitting the hose adapter
1. Screw on (08/b) hose adapter (08/1) using a

The detergent bottle supplies soapy water for re- moving stubborn dirt.
1. Fill the detergent bottle with a cleaning agent
that is not harmful to water.
2. Push (06/a) detergent bottle (06/1) into high-
pressure nozzle (06/2).
3. Turn (06/b) detergent bottle (06/1) through
90° to fix it in place.
4.3.6 Bottle adapter (07-09)
WARNING! Danger of injuries and appli- ance damage. If the appliance is lying down, liq- uid can escape through the ventilation openings of the accessories when the bottle is attached.
Remove the rechargeable battery before ly- ing it down on a flat surface. IMPORTANT! Danger of damage to the appli- ance. The appliance can be damaged if it is con- nected to a water supply with dirty, rusty, muddy or corrosive water. This includes plant fertilisers, plant protection products and cleaning agents.
Clean the appliance with clean water to pro- long its service life. NOTE The attachment is not compatible with all soda and water bottles.
2. Screw (07/a) bottle adapter (07/1) onto the
filled bottle (07/2).
3. Unscrew (08/a) hose adapter (08/1) using a

4.3.7 Washing brush (18)
1. Align the lug of washing brush (18/1) with the
opening of high-pressure nozzle (18/2).
2. Insert (18/a) washing brush (18/1) into high-
pressure nozzle (18/2).
3. Twist (18/b) washing brush (18/1) until it en-

Check that the attachments have been fitted correctly before switching on. IMPORTANT! Danger from water. Contact with water will lead to short circuits and destruc- tion of the rechargeable battery.
Do not expose the rechargeable battery to water and moisture when using the appli- ance.
Keep the rechargeable battery dry when changing the attachments.
IMPORTANT! Danger of damage to the ap- pliance. The appliance can be damaged if it is connected to a water supply with dirty, rusty, muddy or corrosive water. This includes plant fer- tilisers, plant protection products and cleaning agents.
Clean the appliance with clean water to pro- long its service life.
5.1.1 Water supply via the domestic water
network The high-pressure cleaner can be connected to and operated via the domestic water network.
5.1.2 Water supply from PET containers
The high-pressure cleaner can be operated with PET containers filled with clean water see chap- ter 4.3.6 "Bottle adapter (07-09)", page24.
5.1.3 Water supply from open vessels
The high-pressure cleaner can be operated with water from open vessels, such as rain barrels, buckets, ponds, etc. NOTE The priming time is increased of the maximum suction head is exceeded.
Observe the maximum suction head for the appliance.
1. Connect the hose to the high-pressure

Attach hose clip (01/13) to the edge of the vessel.
Float (01/11) prevents hose filter (01/10) from sinking to the bottom of the vessel. Before use Before use, allow the air to escape from the hose.

5.3 Watering and cleaning
5.3.1 Settings of the multi-spray nozzle (11,

6 MAINTENANCE AND CARE
WARNING! Risk of injury. Always switch off the appliance before starting, adjustment, maintenance, care and cleaning work. Remove the rechargeable battery. NOTE For detailed information, heed the separate operating instructions for the recharge- able battery and for the charging unit.
6.1 Cleaning the hose filter (15.16)

7 TROUBLESHOOTING NOTE For malfunctions that are not listed in this table or that you cannot resolve yourself, please contact our customer service. Malfunction Cause Remedy The appliance switches on, but does not draw in water or the pressure is too low. The high-pressure cleaning lance is positioned too high above the surface of the wa- ter source. Lower the appliance to less than 1.5 m. The hose filter is clogged. Remove the hose filter and rinse it with clean water. The garden hose is not con- nected to the appliance cor- rectly. Check the garden hose and connect it correctly. The hose adapter is loose. Tighten the hose adapter using a wrench. Contact Customer Service to obtain a water connection filter. The water connection filter is missing. Pump, hose or other parts are frozen due to tempera- tures below freezing. Wait until pump, hose or other parts have thawed. The hose is kinked. Straighten the hose. Multi-spray nozzle is leaking. The spray pattern is not sprayed correctly. Ensure that the symbol for the spray pattern is correctly aligned with the dis- play mark.442923_a 27 Storage Malfunction Cause Remedy The lock of the multi-spray nozzle is loose. Tighten the lock using a Allen key. Outlet pressure rises suddenly. The multi-spray nozzle is clogged. Replace it with a new multi-spray noz- zle. Water runs out after the appliance is switched off. There is still water in the high-pressure cleaning lance and the pump after the appli- ance has been switched off. Allow the water to drain completely be- fore placing the appliance into storage. The detergent bottle can- not spray cleaning agent. The detergent bottle is clogged. Clean the detergent bottle with clean water. The appliance does not start. The rechargeable battery has not been inserted cor- rectly. Push the rechargeable battery into the holder until it engages. The rechargeable battery is flat. Recharge the battery or replace it with a new rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery is defective. Replace the rechargeable battery. Water in the appliance. Appliance used in rainy weather. Hold the appliance upright so that the water can drain out. Allow the appliance to dry for at least 24 hours. The appliance has fallen into water. The appliance pressure is not constant. The appliance may be draw- ing in extraneous air. Check the connection between hose adapter and hose. The appliance stops au- tomatically. The rechargeable battery is flat. Recharge the battery or replace it with a new rechargeable battery. The multi-spray nozzle is clogged. The current protec- tion device has tripped. Remove the multi-spray nozzle and switch on the appliance. Replace the multi-spray nozzle if the appliance func- tions normally. 8 STORAGE
8.1 Storing the appliance
Thoroughly clean the appliance after every use to avoid any damage:
1. Cleaning the appliance:
Allow all the water to drain out of the ap- pliance and the hose before placing the appliance into storage.
Clean the complete appliance and the ac- cessories using a clean cloth and soft brush. Do not use petrol or other solvents!
2. Hang up the appliance in a dry, frost-free
place out of the reach of children.
8.2 Storing the rechargeable battery and
charging unit DANGER! Danger of explosion and fire! Persons will be fatally or severely injured if the rechargeable battery explodes because it was stored in front of naked flames or heat sources.
Store the rechargeable battery in cool and dry conditions, but not in front of naked flames or heat sources. NOTE When charging, the rechargeable battery is protected from overcharging due to au- tomatic detection of the charge status and thus can remain connected to the charging unit for some time, but not permanently.GB 28 PW 2040 Disposal
Store the battery in a dry, frost-free place at the prescribed storage temperature (see op- erating instructions for the battery) and with a charge of approx. 40 - 60 %.
Due to a risk of short-circuit, do not store the battery near metallic or acid-containing objects.
Recharge the rechargeable battery for approx. 2 hours after approx. 6 months’ storage. 9 DISPOSAL Information on the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElectroG)
Electrical and electronic appliances do not belong in household waste, but should be collected and disposed of separately.
Used batteries or rechargeable batteries that are not installed permanently in the old appli- ance must be removed before disposal. Their disposal is regulated by the battery law.
Owners or users of electrical and electronic appliances are obliged by law to return them after use.
The end user bears personal responsibility for deleting his personal data from the old ap- pliance to be disposed of. The symbol of the crossed-through rubbish bin means that electrical and electronic appliances may not be disposed of in the household rubbish. Electrical and electronic appliances can be hand- ed in at the following places at no charge:
Public service disposal or collection points (e.g. municipal building yards)
Points of sale of electrical appliances (station- ary and online) provided traders are obliged to take them back or offer this voluntarily.
