Comply with the safety and warning instructions in this documentation and on the machine. This document is a permanent component of the de- scribed product, and should remain with the machine if it is sold to someone else. Explanation of symbols Important! Following these warning instructions can help to avoid personal injuries and/or damage to property! Special instructions for ease of understanding and regarding handling. Product description This documentation describes a hand-held electric brus- hcutter that can be operated either with a cutting blade or a line cutter. Caution! Wear ear defenders to prevent impairment of hearing. Automatic tip function (Fig. 5) An automatic tip function (2) is integrated in the spool head,allowingthecuttinglinetobeextendedwhilethe motor is running. The electric brushcutter can be switched back on again afteracooling-downphaseofapprox.15minutes. Important – Danger of injury Do not deactivate safety and protective devices. Designated use This machine is intended for trimming and mowing a lawn in non-commercial applications. Any use not in accordance with this designated use shall be regarded as misuse. This tool is not intended to be used by people (including children) who have restricted physical, sensory or mental capabilities; neither is it intended tobeusedbypeoplelackingexperienceand/or knowledge unless16 Original instructions for use Important! The machine is not allowed to be used in commer- cial applications. Meaning of the symbols on the machine Important! Safety distance min. 10 m Danger due to objects being thrown out Immediately disconnect the plug from themainsiftheextensioncablehas been damaged or cut Protect the machine against rain and moisture Make sure there is a gap of at least 15 m between the machine and other people Safety notes Important! The cutting tool continues to rotate even after the motor has been switched off! Beforeusingmainsandextensioncables,checkthem for any signs of damage or ageing. Keepextensioncablesawayfromthecuttingtools. If the cable becomes damaged during use, immediate- ly disconnect from the mains. DO NOT TOUCH THE CABLE UNTIL IT HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS. Wear suitable clothing, eye protection and gloves. Never allow children or uninstructed persons to opera- te or maintain the machine. Local regulations may spe- cify the minimum age of people operating the machine. Stop using the machine when people, especially child- ren (and also pets) are in the vicinity. Onlymowduringdaylighthoursorwithgoodarticial lighting. Before taking the machine into operation, and following any impact, check the machine for signs of wear or da- mage and undertake the necessary repairs. Never use the machine if any protective devices are damaged or missing. Always keep hand and feet away from the cutting de- vice, above all when switching on the motor. Any device that is used for cutting off the line repre- sents a danger of injury. After pulling out a new line, always hold the machine in its normal working position before switching it on. Only use genuine spare parts and genuine accesso- ries. Disconnect the mains plug before carrying out any checks, cleaning or work on the machine, and when it is not in use. Make sure that air openings are free from contami- nation. In spite of technical and additional protective measu- res, there is always a residual risk when working with the machine. Keep handles dry and clean. Remove foreign bodies from the working area. Only use the machine if it is in perfect technical con- dition. Always keep the guard plate, spool head and motor clear of mowing residues. Keep your body and clothing away from the blade system. they are supervised by someone who is respon- sible for safety, or receive instructions from this supervisory person in how to operate the tool. Children should be supervised in order to make sure that they do not play with the tool.17
440 488 _c People who are not familiar with the trimmer should practice handling it while the motor is turned off. Wear appropriate working clothes. Make sure you can stand securely when working. Always operate the machine with two hands. Keep other people out of the danger area. Do not leave the machine unsupervised. When mowing on a slope, always stand below the cutting device. When working on a slope: Never work on a smooth and slippery slope. Always ensure that you are standing securely. Always mow across the slope, never down or up. Do not work on slopes with a more than 10° gra- dient! Pay particular attention when turning! After contact with a foreign object: Switch off the motor. Check the machine for damage. Donotoperatethemachineifyouareundertheinu- ence of alcohol, drugs or medication. Comply with the accident prevention regulations. Electrical safety Caution! Danger of touching live parts! Immediately disconnect the plug from the mains if theextensioncablehasbeendamagedorcut!We recommend connecting via an RCCB with a rated residual current < 30 mA. The domestic mains voltage must match the informa- tion relating to mains voltage in the technical data; do not use any other supply voltage. Onlyuseextensioncablesthatareintendedforout- door use – minimum cross section 1.5 mm
. Always reel in cable drums fully. Do not usedamagedorbrittleextensioncables. Check theconditionofyourextensioncable before each use. Securetheextensioncableinthecablestrainrelief. Donotgetthemachinewetorexposeittomoisture. Keep children away from machines connected to the mains. Assembly Important The machine is not allowed to be operated unless it has been fully assembled. Installing the additional handle (Fig. 2)
1. Place top part of handle (1) on the handlebar.
2. Place bottom part of handle (2) of the additional hand-
le underneath the handlebar on the top part of the handle.
3. Loosely screw the parts of the handle together.
4. Align the handle on the handlebar and tighten the
screw connection. Installing the guard plate holder (Fig. 3)
1. Insert drive head (1) into guard plate holder (2).
Make sure that the screw-on surface for the guard plate is located under the handlebar!
2. Firmly screw the guard plate holder onto the drive
head from underneath with three screws. Installing the guard plate (Fig. 4)
1. Place guard plate (1) on guard plate holder (2) and
align with the fastening holes.
1. Place cutting blade (2) on driver plate (1) so that the
hole in the cutting blade precisely aligns with the gui- de circle in the driver plate.
2. Pushange(3)ontothecuttingbladesothattheat
side points towards the cutting blade.
3. Loosely screw fastening nut (4) anticlockwise onto the
guide pin of drive shaft (1).
4. Brace driver plate (1) using Allen key (6) and tighten

1. Push spool head (3) with inserted spool onto the drive
2. Screw in fastening screw (4) anticlockwise.
3. Brace driver plate (2) using Allen key (1).
4. Tighten the fastening screw anticlockwise with the
spanner (5). Installing the handlebar (Fig. 8)
1. Push lower handlebar part (1) into the holder on the
upper handlebar part until lever (2) engages.
2. Use tensioning screw (3) to secure the handlebar
connection. Start-up IMPORTANT! Always perform a visual check prior to start-up. Starting the electric brushcutter
3. Pass the carry strap over your left shoulder (Fig. 9)
and hook the strap into the eye on the top handlebar (Fig.1/7).
5. Hold the machine with both hands. Do not place the
cutter head on the ground when doing this.
6. Withonehand,griptheadditionalhandle(Fig.1/8);
with the other hand, grip the upper handle (Fig. 1/4) and, at the same time, press the lower switch, see Fig. 11.
7. Press the switch in the upper handle (Fig. 1/5) and
hold it pressed, see Fig. 12. The machine only runs when both switches are pressed.
8. Let the electric brushcutter run at idling speed for a
few seconds. This causes the cutting line to be cut off to the correct length.
9. The machine switches off when a switch is released.
After the machine has been switched off, the spool head continues to rotate for a few seconds. Operation Switch on the machine before approaching the grass to be cut. Angle the machine forwards slightly, and walk forwards slowly. Sweep the machine to the right and left in order to cut the grass. Long grass must be cut in several passes. Always proceed from top to bottom. Tap the spool head on the ground from time to time when working. The automatic tip function always keeps the line at optimum length. Make sure the motor is stopped before you remove any cuttings. IMPORTANT! The vibration value during use of the electrical implement may differ from the indicated value, depending on what the machine is used for. Do not overload the machine during work. Extending the cutting line
1. Run the motor at full speed and tap the spool head on
the ground. Thelineisautomaticallyextended. The knife on the guard plate shortens the line to the permitted length. Trimming

440 488 _c Dense vegetation, young trees or undergrowth can block the cutting blade and bring it to a halt. Avoid the blockage by paying attention to the direction in which the undergrowth is growing, and cutting from the opposite side. If the cutting blade gets jammed when cutting Stop the motor immediately Hold the machine at a height so the cutting blade will not jump or break Push jammed material away from the cut. Maintenance and care CAUTION! Danger from electrical current! Before all maintenance and care jobs, disconnect the machine from the mains and secure it to prevent it from being switched back on. After use, disconnect the mains plug and check the machine for damage. Keep the machine out of reach of children and unau- thorised persons. Electricalmalfunctionsareonlyallowedtoberectied by authorised specialist workshops. Never use the machine if the blade of the line cutter is missing or damaged. Always keep the guard plate, spool head and motor clear of mowing residues. Do not spray the machine with water! Penetrating wa- ter can lead to malfunctions. Donotgetthemachinewetorexposeittomoisture. Regularly check the machine is in good working order. Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents. They can cause irreparable damage to the machine. Cleaning the guard plate
1. Switch off the machine.
2. Use a screwdriver or a similar tool to remove mowing
residues carefully. Clean the guard plate regularly in order to avoid the stem tube overheating. Changing the cutting blade (Fig. 5)
1. Pull off split pin (Fig. 6/1) and unscrew fastening nut
(4) clockwise with spanner (5). IMPORTANT! Donottouchxedstructures-dangerofkickback!
1. Guide the machine slowly and carefully, without al-
lowing the cutting line to strike against obstacles. Trimming around tree trunks
1. Carefully and slowly guide the machine around tree
trunks so that the cutting line does not touch the tree bark.
2. Mow from left to right around tree trunks.
3. Strike the grass and weeds with the tip of the line, and
tilt the spool head forward slightly. Trimming along stone walls, foundations and trees results in increased line wear. Mowing
1. Slant the spool head at a 30 degree angle to the right.
2. Turn the hand grip to the required position.
IMPORTANT! Remove foreign bodies from the working area. Danger of injury/damage to property due to objects being thrown out. Mowing with the cutting blade When mowing with the cutting blade, guide the cutting blade in a horizontal, curving motion from one side to another. In addition before using the cutting blade: Use the carry strap. Check the guard hood and cutting blade are installed correctly. Wear protective clothing and eye protection. Avoiding kickback IMPORTANT! Do not use the cutting blade in the vicinity of solid obstacles - danger of kickback / danger of injury! 2. Removeange(3)andcuttingblade(2).
3. Place new cutting blade (2) on driver plate (1) so that
the hole in the cutting blade precisely aligns with the guide circle in the driver plate.
4. Pushange(3)ontothecuttingbladesothattheat
side points towards the cutting blade.
5. Loosely screw fastening nut (4) anticlockwise onto the
guide pin of drive shaft (1).
6. Brace driver plate (1) using an Allen key and tighten
fasteningnut(4)anticlockwisewithhexkey(5).
7. Secure the fastening nut with the split pin again.
Changing the spool (Fig. 7)
1. Brace driver plate (2) using Allen key (1) and loosen
fastening screw (4) clockwise with spanner (5).
2. Unscrew and remove fastening screw.
3. Pull spool head (3) off the drive shaft.
4. Remove the spool from the spool head.
5. Remove dirt and grass residues.
6. Thread the ends of the cutting lines from the new
spool into the openings provided for them in the spool head.
7. Insert the spool into the spool head. Make sure that
the cutting lines do not become jammed, and pull them out of the spool by about 9 cm.
8. Push the complete spool head onto the drive shaft
and tighten anticlockwise with the fastening screw.
9. Hold the driver platermlyandtightenwiththespan-
ner. IMPORTANT! Only use genuine cutting blades and accessories! Non-genuine parts can lead to injuries and mal- functions of the machine! Changing the line knife
1. Unscrew and remove the two screws arranged on the
inside edge of the guard plate and remove the old line knife.
2. Insert the new line knife and screw it back on. Do not
overtighten the screws. Sharpening the line knife
1. Remove the cutting blade from the guard plate.
2. Secure the line knife in a vice and sharpen it with a
atle.Onlyleinonedirection! Cleaning Clean the machine carefully after each use in order to keep it functioning correctly. Regularly clean all moving parts. Clean the housing with a soft brush or a dry cloth. Do not clean the machine with running water or high- pressure washers. Do not use solvents (petrol, alcohol, etc.) for the plastic parts, since these can damage the plastic parts. Keep the handle grips free from oil and grease. Water, solvents and polishes are not allowed to be used. Storage Clean the machine and its accessories after each use. Store the machine in a dry place protected against frost. Hang up the electric brushcutter by its handle. This avoids placing unnecessary load on the cutter head. Disposal Do not dispose of worn-out machines in domestic waste! The packaging, machine and accessories are made from recyclable materials and must be disposed of accordingly.
