Frequently Asked Questions - GALAXY ISLAND ELICA

What is the minimum installation height for the GALAXY ISLAND hood?
The minimum distance between the cooking surface and the lowest part of the hood must be 50 cm for electric hobs and 65 cm for gas or mixed hobs. Always follow the instructions of your cooking appliance manufacturer if they specify a greater distance.
How to clean the grease filters?
The metal grease filters must be cleaned at least once a month (or when the indicator flashes after 40 hours of operation). Use a non-abrasive detergent, by hand or in a dishwasher at low temperature and short cycle. Dishwashing may cause discoloration but does not affect performance.
When should I replace the charcoal filter?
The activated charcoal filter must be replaced or cleaned depending on the type. For a washable filter, clean it every 2 months (or when the indicator flashes after 160 hours). For a non-washable filter, replace it every 4 months maximum. Follow the specific instructions for your model.
How to activate the charcoal filter saturation signal?
If you are using the hood in recirculation mode, you must activate the signal. Turn the hood off (OFF), then hold the T4 button for 5 seconds. Indicator light 2 will flash to confirm activation. To deactivate, repeat the operation.
Can I use the hood without the charcoal filter?
Yes, if the hood is installed in extraction mode with external evacuation, the charcoal filter is not necessary and should even be removed to not hinder evacuation. Use the charcoal filter only in recirculation mode.
How to set the timer (timing)?
Press the T4 button to activate the timer. The duration depends on the selected speed: 20 min in speed 1, 15 min in speed 2, 10 min in speed 3, 5 min in intensive speed. The lights flash during the countdown. The hood turns off automatically at the end.
