Measuring Tool Power Supply

Battery Charging

For charging, use the recommended USB power supply unit or a USB power supply unit whose output voltage and minimum output current comply with the requirements in the "Technical data" section. Observe the operating manual of the USB power supply unit. Recommended power supply unit: See "Technical data".
▶ Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the power source must match the voltage specified on the type plate of the power supply.
▶ Only charge the battery via the USB port at ambient temperatures between 0 °C and +40 °C . Charging outside the temperature range can damage the battery or increase the risk of fire.

Note: Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are supplied partially charged according to international transport regulations. To ensure full rechargeable battery capacity, fully charge the rechargeable battery before using your tool for the first time.

The battery charge indicator (7) shows the state of charge of the battery during operation:

LED Capacity

Continuous green light 70–100 %

English | 21

LED Capacity

Continuous yellow light 30–70%

Continuous red light 10–30 %

Flashing red light 0–10 %

If the battery charge indicator (7) flashes red, the laser beams are switched off.

Charge the battery. To do this, connect the USB Type-C® port (6) to a USB power supply unit using a suitable USB cable (15). Connect the USB power supply unit to the mains supply. The measuring tool can continue to be operated during charging.

During the charging process, the battery charge indicator (7) shows the charging progress or errors:

LED Meaning

Flashing green light Battery is being charged

Continuous green light Battery fully charged

Flashing red light Battery temperature outside the recommended temperature range; charging voltage or charging current is unsuitable

Continuous red light Battery defective or no battery inserted

Remove the USB cable (15) after completing the charging process. Protect the USB Type-C® port (6) from dust and splashes.

Note: If required, you can also operate the measuring tool without the battery inserted, using only a connected USB power supply unit. Unplug the measuring tool from the mains after operation.

Tips for optimum use of the battery in the measuring tool

Only store the measuring tool within the permissible temperature range as specified in the "Technical data" section. As an example, do not leave the measuring tool in a vehicle during the summer.

A significantly reduced operating time after charging indicates that the battery has deteriorated and must be replaced.

Follow the instructions on correct disposal.

Operation

Starting Operation

▶ Protect the measuring tool from moisture and direct sunlight.

22 | English

▶ Do not expose the measuring tool to any extreme temperatures or variations in temperature. For example, do not leave it in a car for extended periods of time. In case of large variations in temperature, allow the measuring tool to adjust to the ambient temperature before putting it into operation. The precision of the measuring tool may be compromised if exposed to extreme temperatures or variations in temperature.
- Avoid substantial knocks to the measuring tool and avoid dropping it. Damaging the measuring tool can cause accuracy to be compromised. If the measuring tool is subjected to a substantial knock or is dropped, check the laser line by comparing it to a known horizontal reference line.
▶ Switch the measuring tool off when transporting it. The pendulum unit is locked when the tool is switched off, as it can otherwise be damaged by big movements.

Switching On/Off

To switch on the measuring tool, slide the on/off switch (10) to the ON position. Immediately after switching on, the measuring tool sends the circumferential laser line out of the outlet aperture (8).

▶ Do not direct the laser beam at persons or animals and do not stare into the laser beam yourself (even from a distance).

To switch off the measuring tool, slide the on/off switch (10) to the OFF position. The pendulum unit is locked when the tool is switched off.

▶ Never leave the measuring tool unattended when switched on, and ensure the measuring tool is switched off after use. Others may be blinded by the laser beam.

Automatic Levelling

Working with Automatic Levelling (see figure A)

When working with automatic levelling, the incline function button (9) must not light up. If necessary, switch automatic levelling on again by pressing the incline function button (9) so that the button goes out.

Position the measuring tool on a level, firm support or attach it to a tripod (11).

The automatic levelling function automatically compensates irregularities within the self-levelling range of ±4^ . The levelling is finished as soon as the laser line stops moving.

If automatic levelling is not possible, e.g. because the surface on which the measuring tool stands deviates by more than 4^ from the horizontal plane, the laser line will begin to flash.

If this is the case, set up the measuring tool in a level position and wait for the self-leveling to take place. As soon as the measuring tool is within the self-leveling range of ±4^ , the laser line will light up continuously.

It is not possible to work with automatic levelling outside the self-levelling range of ±4^ , as the levelling accuracy of the laser line cannot be guaranteed.

In case of ground vibrations or position changes during operation, the measuring tool is automatically levelled again. Upon re-levelling, check the position of the laser line with regard to the reference points to avoid errors arising from a change in the measuring tool's position.

Working with the Incline Function (see figure B)

To work with the incline function, press the incline function button (9) so that it lights up. For work with the incline function, automatic levelling is switched off. You can hold the measuring tool freely in your hand or place it on a sloping surface. The laser line is no longer levelled.

Working Advice

▶ Only the centre of the laser line must be used for marking. The width of the laser line changes depending on the distance.

Working with the Tripod

A tripod offers a stable, height-adjustable support surface for measuring. Place the measuring tool with the 1/4" tripod mount (3) on the thread of the tripod (11) or a conventional camera tripod. Tighten the measuring tool using the locking screw of the tripod.

Roughly align the tripod before switching on the measuring tool.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

Keep the measuring tool clean at all times.

Never immerse the measuring tool in water or other liquids.

Wipe off any dirt using a damp, soft cloth. Do not use any detergents or solvents.

The areas around the outlet aperture of the laser in particular should be cleaned on a regular basis. Make sure to check for lint when doing this.

Replacing the Battery (see figure D)

When the battery has been removed in order to replace it, keep it away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that could make a connection from one terminal to another. A short circuit between the battery terminals may cause burns or a fire.

24 | English

Replace the battery if the operating time is significantly reduced after charging. Loosen the screw (2) with a suitable tool and remove the battery compartment cover (1).

Press in the tab on the battery's connector plug (13) and pull the connector plug out of the connection socket (12). Remove the battery (14) from the battery compartment.

Insert a new battery (14) into the battery compartment. Only use a Bosch lithium-ion battery (order number 1 619 PS1 251) intended for this measuring tool.

Carefully push the connector plug (13) into the connection socket (12) without applying force until the tab on the plug clicks into place.

Insert the battery compartment cover (1) and tighten the screw (2).
