General Power Tool Safety Warnings
WARNING
Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifica-
tions provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
Work area safety
▶ Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
▶ Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
▶ Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical safety
▶ Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
▶ Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
▶ Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
▶ Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
▶ Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

▶ Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
▶ If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
▶ Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
Power tool use and care
▶ Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
▶ Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
▶ Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
▶ Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
- Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
▶ Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
▶ Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
▶ Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
Battery tool use and care
▶ Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
▶ Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
▶ Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
▶ Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
▶ Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130 °C may cause explosion.
▶ Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
Service
▶ Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
▶ Never service damaged battery packs. Service of battery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.
Cut-off machine safety warnings
▶ Use only diamond cut-off wheels for your power tool. Just because an accessory can be attached to your power tool, it does not assure safe operation.
▶ Do not use segmented diamond cut-off wheels with a positive rake angle. Use of such diamond cut-off wheels can increase the risk of personal injury.
▶ Do not use segmented diamond cut-off wheels with a peripheral gap greater than 10 mm. Use of such diamond cut-off wheels can increase the risk of personal injury.
The rated speed of the cut-off wheel must be at least equal to the maximum speed marked on the power tool. Accessories running faster than their rated speed can break and fly apart.
▶ Wheels must be used only for recommended applications. For example: do not grind with the side of cut-off wheel. Abrasive cut-off wheels are intended for peripheral grinding, side forces applied to these wheels may cause them to shatter.
▶ Always use undamaged wheel flanges that are of correct diameter for your selected wheel. Proper wheel
flanges support the wheel thus reducing the possibility of wheel loosing or breakage.
▶ Do not use worn down reinforced wheels from larger power tools. Wheels intended for a larger power tool are not suitable for the higher speed of a smaller tool and may burst.
The outside diameter and the thickness of your cut-off wheel must be within the capacity rating of your power tool. Incorrectly sized cut-off wheels cannot be adequately guarded or controlled.
The arbour size of wheels and flanges must properly fit the spindle of the power tool. Wheels and flanges with arbour holes that do not match the mounting hardware of the power tool will run out of balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of control.
▶ Use all mounting screws when mounting diamond wheels directly to the inner flange and ensure they are tightened properly. If not mounted correctly, the diamond wheel can get out of balance and cause the wheel to separate from the tool spindle.
Do not use damaged cut-off wheels. Before each use, inspect the cut-off wheels for chips and cracks. If the power tool or cut-off wheel is dropped, inspect for damage or install an undamaged cut-off wheel. After inspecting and installing the cut-off wheel, position yourself and bystanders away from the plane of the rotating cut-off wheel and run the power tool at maximum no load speed. If unusual vibration is detected, turn the power tool off immediately and replace the cut-off wheel. If unusual vibration is not detected, continue to run the power tool for one minute. Damaged wheels will normally break apart during this test time.
▶ Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on the application, use a face shield, safety goggles or safety glasses. As appropriate, wear breathing protection, such as a dust mask or respirator, hearing protection, gloves and workshop apron capable of stopping small abrasive or workpiece fragments. The eye protection must be capable of stopping flying debris generated by various operations. The breathing protection must be capable of filtrating particles generated by your operation. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise may cause hearing loss.
The guard provided with the tool must be securely attached to the power tool and positioned for maximum safety, so the least amount of wheel is exposed towards the operator. Position yourself and bystanders away from the plane of the rotating wheel. The guard helps to protect operator from broken wheel fragments and accidental contact with wheel.
▶ Keep bystanders a safe distance away from work area. Anyone entering the work area must wear personal protective equipment. Fragments of workpiece or of a broken wheel may fly away and cause injury beyond immediate area of operation.
▶ Do not operate the power tool near flammable materials. Sparks could ignite these materials.
▶ Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, when performing an operation where the cut-off wheel may contact hidden wiring. A cut-off wheel contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock.
▶ Never lay the power tool down until the cut-off wheel has come to a complete stop. The spinning cut-off wheel may grab the surface and pull the power tool out of your control.
▶ Do not run the power tool while carrying it at your side. Accidental contact with the spinning cut-off wheel could snag your clothing, pulling the cut-off wheel into your body.
Regularly clean the power tool's air vents. The motor's fan will draw the dust inside the housing and excessive accumulation of powdered metal may cause electrical hazards.
Kickback and related warnings
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating cut-off wheel. Pinching or snagging causes rapid stalling of the rotating cut-off wheel which in turn causes the uncontrolled power tool to be forced in the direction opposite of the cut-off wheel's rotation at the point of the binding.
For example, if a cut-off wheel is snagged or pinched by the workpiece, the edge of the cut-off wheel that is entering into the pinch point can dig into the surface of the material causing the cut-off wheel to climb out or kick out. The cut-off wheel may either jump toward or away from the operator, depending on direction of the cut-off wheel's movement at the point of pinching. Cut-off wheels may also break under these conditions.
Kickback is the result of power tool misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below.
- Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the power tool and position your body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces. Always use auxiliary handle, if provided, for maximum control over kickback or torque reaction during start -up. The operator can control torque reactions or kickback forces, if proper precautions are taken.
▶ Never place your hand near the rotating cut-off wheel. The cut-off wheel may kickback over your hand.
▶ Do not position your body in the area where power tool will move if kickback occurs. Kickback will propel the tool in direction opposite to the cut-off wheel's movement at the point of snagging.
▶ Use special care when working corners, sharp edges etc. Avoid bouncing and snagging the cut-off wheel. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have a tendency to snag the rotating cut-off wheel and cause loss of control or kickback.

▶ Do not attempt to do curved cutting. Overstressing the cut-off wheel increases the loading and susceptibility to twisting or binding of the cut-off wheel in the cut and the possibility of kickback or cut-off wheel breakage, which can lead to serious injury.
▶ Do not attach a saw chain, woodcarving blade or toothed saw blade. Such blades create frequent kickback and loss of control.
▶ Do not "jam" the cut-off wheel or apply excessive pressure. Do not attempt to make an excessive depth of cut. Overstressing the cut-off wheel increases the loading and susceptibility to twisting or binding of the cut-off wheel in the cut and the possibility of kickback or cut-off wheel breakage.
When the cut-off wheel is binding or when interrupting a cut for any reason, switch off the power tool and hold the power tool motionless until the cut-off wheel comes to a complete stop. Never attempt to remove the cut-off wheel from the cut while the cut-off wheel is in motion otherwise kickback may occur. Investigate and take corrective action to eliminate the cause of cut-off wheel binding.
▶ Do not restart the cutting operation in the workpiece. Let the cut-off wheel reach full speed and carefully re-enter the cut. The cut-off wheel may bind, walk up or kickback if the power tool is restarted in the workpiece.
▶ Support panels or any oversized workpiece to minimize the risk of cut-off wheel pinching and kickback.
Large workpieces tend to sag under their own weight. Supports must be placed under the workpiece near the line of cut and near the edge of the workpiece on both sides of the cut-off wheel.
▶ Use extra caution when making a "pocket cut" into existing walls or other blind areas. The protruding cut-off wheel may cut gas or water pipes, electrical wiring or objects that can cause kickback.
Additional Safety Information


Wear hearing protection, protective goggles, a dust mask and gloves. Use at least an FFP 2 protection class particle-fil-
tering half mask.
- Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand.
▶ Use suitable detectors to determine if there are hidden supply lines or contact the local utility company for assistance. Contact with electric cables can cause fire and electric shock. Damaging gas lines can lead to explosion. Breaking water pipes causes property damage.
▶ Do not touch the cutting disc after use before it has cooled. The cutting disc becomes very hot during use.
▶ Hold the power tool firmly with both hands and make sure you have a stable footing. The power tool can be more securely guided with both hands.
In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. The battery can set alight or explode. Ensure the area is well ventilated and seek medical attention should you experience any adverse effects. The vapours may irritate the respiratory system.
▶ Do not modify or open the battery. There is a risk of short-circuiting.
The battery can be damaged by pointed objects such as nails or screwdrivers or by force applied externally. An internal short circuit may occur, causing the battery to burn, smoke, explode or overheat.
▶ Only use the battery in the manufacturer's products. This is the only way in which you can protect the battery against dangerous overload.


Protect the rechargeable battery against heat, e.g. including prolonged sun exposure, fire, water, and moisture. There is a risk of explosion and short circuit.

Intended Use
The power tool is intended for use in conjunction with a dust extractor of dust category M or H. When securely supported on the base plate, it can be used for cutting in primarily mineral materials (e.g. masonry, sandstone, limestone and concrete) without the addition of water.

The vibration level and noise emission value given in these instructions have been measured in accordance with a standardised measuring procedure and may be used to compare power tools. They may also be used for a preliminary estimation of vibration and noise emissions.
The stated vibration level and noise emission value represent the main applications of the power tool. However, if the power tool is used for other applications, with different accessories or is poorly maintained, the vibration level and noise emission value may differ. This may significantly increase the vibration and noise emissions over the total working period.
To estimate vibration and noise emissions accurately, the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually being used should also be taken into account. This may significantly reduce vibration and noise emissions over the total working period.
Implement additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of vibration, such as servicing the power tool and accessories, keeping their hands warm, and organising workflows correctly.
Rechargeable battery
Bosch sells some cordless power tools without a rechargeable battery. You can tell whether a rechargeable battery is included with the power tool by looking at the packaging.
Charging the battery
▶ Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. Only these chargers are matched to the lithium-ion battery of your power tool.
Note: Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are supplied partially charged according to international transport regulations. To ensure full rechargeable battery capacity, fully charge the rechargeable battery before using your tool for the first time.
Inserting the Battery
Push the charged battery into the battery holder until it clicks into place.
Removing the Battery
To remove the rechargeable battery, press the battery release button and pull the battery out. Do not use force to do this.
The rechargeable battery has two locking levels to prevent the battery from falling out if the battery release button is pressed unintentionally. The rechargeable battery is held in place by a spring when fitted in the power tool.
Battery charge indicator
Note: Not all battery types have a battery charge indicator. The green LEDs on the battery charge indicator indicate the state of charge of the battery. For safety reasons, it is only possible to check the state of charge when the power tool is not in operation.
Press the button for the battery charge indicator or to show the state of charge. This is also possible when the battery is removed.
If no LED lights up after pressing the button for the battery charge indicator, then the battery is defective and must be replaced.

Battery defect risk detection

In addition to the state of charge of the rechargeable battery, the LEDs on the battery charge indicator can also indicate the risk of a battery defect.
To activate the function, press and hold the button for the battery charge indicator for 3 seconds. The analysis of the battery is signalled by a moving light on the battery charge indicator. The result of is shown on the battery charge indicator.

1 LED: The rechargeable battery has a high defect risk. Performance and runtime may
already be reduced. Replacing the rechargeable battery is recommended.

5 LEDs: The rechargeable battery is in good condition and has a low defect risk.
Please note: The rechargeable battery defect risk assessment works in a binary manner and offers a simplified status assessment, indicating either that the rechargeable battery is in good condition or that the rechargeable battery has an increased defect risk. A percentage of the battery status is not shown.
Recommendations for Optimal Handling of the Battery
Protect the battery against moisture and water.
Only store the battery within a temperature range of -20 to 50 °C. Do not leave the battery in your car in the summer, for example.
Occasionally clean the ventilation slots on the battery using a soft brush that is clean and dry.
A significantly reduced operating time after charging indicates that the battery has deteriorated and must be replaced. Follow the instructions on correct disposal.
Assembly
Before carrying out any work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance, tool change etc.), remove the battery from the power tool. There is risk of injury from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch.
Dust/Chip Extraction
Do not perform work without taking dust-reducing measures. Using a suitable dust extraction attachment will reduce exposure to harmful dust. Provide good ventilation at the workplace. Always use suitable breathing protection. Use a dust extraction system that is suitable for the material wherever possible. The regulations on the materials being machined that apply in the country of use must be observed.
- Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can easily ignite.

Refer to the dust extractor's instructions. If there is reduced suction power, stop working and eliminate the cause.
External Dust Extraction (see figure B)
The extraction outlet (2) can turn freely.
Connect an extraction hose (30) (accessory) to the extraction outlet (2). Connect the extraction hose (30) to a dust extractor (accessory). You will find an overview of how to connect to various dust extractors at the end of these operating instructions.
We recommend using anti-static hoses and dust extractors. Whilst it is possible to use standard hoses and dust extractors, this is not recommended due to a potential static charge accumulation.
Use a dust extractor for dust class M or H. We recommend wearing a dust mask. Mineral dust is hazardous to health and can cause cancer.
The dust extractor must be suitable for the material being worked.
When extracting dry dust that is especially detrimental to health or carcinogenic, use a special dust extractor.
Instructions for the use of wall chasers
Please observe the following notes in order to reduce the dust emissions occurring while working.
- Only use wall chasers and dust extractors of dust class M or H in a combination recommended by Bosch. Other combinations may lead to worse collection and separation of dust.
- Observe the operating instructions of the for maintenance and cleaning of the dust extractor, including the filter. Empty dust collection containers immediately once full. Clean the dust extractor filters regularly and always insert the filters completely into the dust extractor.
- Only use the extraction hoses intended by Bosch. Do not manipulate the extraction hose. If pieces of rock are drawn into the extraction hose, stop working and clean the extraction hose immediately. Prevent the extraction hose from being bent or creased.
- Only use the wall chaser for its intended purpose.
- Only use application tools that are sharp and in perfect condition. A noticeable slowdown in work progress is a sign of worn application tools.
- Observe the general requirements for construction site workplaces.
- Ensure good ventilation.
- Ensure that the working area is free of obstructions. For longer grooves, the dust extractor must follow behind without delay and without obstruction.
- Wear hearing protection, protective goggles, dust mask and gloves as required. Use at least an FFP 2 protection class particle-filtering half mask.
- Use a suitable vacuum cleaner for cleaning the workplace. Prevent settled dust from being swirled up by sweeping.
Fitting diamond cutting discs
▶ Wearing protective gloves while inserting and replacing diamond cutting discs is recommended.
Diamond cutting discs become very hot while working; do not touch them until they have cooled.
▶ Use only diamond-tipped cutting discs. Segmented diamond cutting discs may only exhibit negative cutting angles and max. 10 mm slots between the segments.
Swivelling the Upper Protective Guard Outwards (see figure A)
To change tools, the upper protective guard (17) must be swivelled all the way out. Place the power tool on a solid surface.
Open the power tool by pressing the release button (20).
Open the upper protective guard (17) using the buckle (1).

Removing the Clamping Device (see figure A)
▶ Before carrying out any work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance, tool change etc.), remove the battery from the power tool. There is risk of injury from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch.
Press the spindle lock button (10) to lock the grinding spindle.
▶ Do not press the spindle lock button while the grinding spindle is moving. The power tool may become damaged if you do this.
- When using the clamping nut (27): Loosen the clamping nut with a two-pin spanner (28).
- When using the quick-clamping nut with bar (25): Fold up the bar and turn the quick-clamping nut (25) firmly anticlockwise. Use a two-hole spanner to loosen a tight quick-clamping nut.
- When using the quick-clamping nut (26): Turn the knurled ring anticlockwise. Use a two-hole spanner to loosen a tight quick-clamping nut.
Remove the spacer discs (24) and the mounting flange (22).
Clean the grinding spindle (21) and all the parts to be fitted.
Determining the Groove Width
The groove width is determined by the number of spacer discs (24) between the two diamond cutting discs (23) and the thickness of the diamond cutting discs.
The groove width is calculated as follows:
Groove width = thickness of the spacer discs + thickness of the diamond cutting discs.
The permissible groove width can be found in the "Technical Data" section (see "Technical Data", page 21).
You may use the power tool with one or two diamond cutting discs.
Fitting the Clamping Device (see figure A)
Place the mounting flange (22) on the grinding spindle (21).
The mounting flange must sit with its drive collar positioned correctly on the grinding spindle.
Place the diamond cutting disc (23) and the spacer discs (24) on the mounting flange (22).
▶ All of the supplied spacer discs must always be fitted, irrespective of the groove width required. Otherwise, the diamond cutting disc (23) could come loose during operation and cause injury.
Number of spacer discs required:
4 discs of 6 mm thickness
3 discs of 4 mm thickness
At least one spacer disc (24) must be fitted between two diamond cutting discs (23).
Note: Only diamond cutting discs may be used. The use of bonded reinforced cutting discs is not permitted!
When fitting the diamond cutting discs, make sure that the direction of rotation arrows on the diamond cutting discs and the direction of rotation of the power tool (see direction of rotation arrow (29) on the upper protective guard) match.
Press the spindle lock button (10) to lock the grinding spindle.
- When using the clamping nut (27): Screw on the clamping nut and tighten it with the two-pin spanner (28).
- When using the quick-clamping nut with bar (25): Fold up the bar and turn the quick-clamping nut firmly clockwise. Then fold down the bar to secure the quick-clamping nut. It is not sufficient to tighten the disc along the edge.
- When using the quick-clamping nut (26): Unscrew the quick-clamping nut and turn the cutting disc firmly clockwise.
Lock the upper protective guard (17) with the buckle (1).
Then swivel the upper protective guard inwards until the release mechanism (20) audibly clicks into place.
When working with two diamond cutting discs (23), always replace them in pairs.
See the graphics page for the order of assembly.
Disc position display
There are three markings to indicate the positions of the diamond cutting discs (13).
- Internal marking: Indicates the position of the internal diamond cutting disc (23) if no spacer disc (24) is inserted between the mounting flange (22) and this diamond cutting disc.
– Centre marking: Indicates the geometric centre between the internal and external diamond cutting disc. - External marking: Shows the position of the external diamond cutting disc (23) if this diamond cutting disc is placed on the very outside, i.e. no more spacer discs (24) are inserted beyond this.
Operation
Preselecting the Cutting Depth
The cutting depth must only be preselected while the power tool is switched off.
The depth stop adjustment wheel (11) can be used to preset the required cutting depth.
Set the required cutting depth of the diamond cutting discs by turning the depth stop adjustment wheel (11) until the arrow mark (19) on the base plate (8) is pointing to the value of the required cutting depth (12). Ensure that the depth stop adjustment wheel (11) is engaged. Otherwise, the actual cutting depth may vary towards the larger or smaller value during operation. Due to wear on the diamond cutting discs, the actual cutting depth may be less than indicated by the preset cutting depth value (12). Check the actual penetration depth of the diamond cutting discs before use. The cutting depth can be set to 10 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 35 mm, 40 mm or MAX. The MAX setting ensures the maximum achievable cutting depth, however worn the diamond cutting discs may be.
Starting Operation
Switching On and Off
Before starting operation, check that the upper protective guard (17) is engaged in the starting position. The starting position is reached when the hook (32) is engaged in the bar (31). Otherwise, the diamond cutting discs may touch the workpiece and you may lose control of the power tool when switching it on.
▶ Check the diamond cutting disc before using it. The diamond cutting disc must be fitted properly and be able to rotate freely. Carry out a test run for at least one minute with no load. Do not use diamond cutting discs that are damaged, run untrue or vibrate during use. Damaged diamond cutting discs can burst apart and cause injuries.
To switch on the power tool, pull down the flipper (7) and push and hold the on/off switch (6). Let go of the flipper (7).
To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (6). The running direction of the power tool is towards the front handle. This is also indicated by arrows (33) on the base plate.
When operating the power tool, always hold it with both hands on the intended gripping surfaces.
Run-out brake

The power tool is fitted with an electronic run-out brake. When the power tool is switched off or the power supply is interrupted, the application tool is brought to a complete stop within a few seconds.
Soft start
The electronic soft start limits the torque when the power tool is switched on and enables a smooth start-up.
Note: If the power tool runs at full speed immediately after being switched on, this means that the soft start and restart protection mechanisms have failed. The power tool must be sent to the after-sales service immediately; see the "After-Sales Service and Application Service" section for addresses.
Restart protection

The restart protection feature prevents the power tool from uncontrolled starting after the power supply to it has been interrupted.
To restart the tool, set the on/off switch (6) to the "off" position and then switch the power
tool on again.
Working Advice
▶ Exercise caution when cutting slots in structural walls; see the "Information on structural design" section.
▶ Do not load the power tool so heavily that it comes to a stop.
▶ Clamp the workpiece if it is not secure under its own weight.
▶ The power tool may only be used for dry cutting.
Protect the cutting disc against impact, shock and grease. Do not subject the cutting disc to lateral pressure.
- Set the cutting depth (see "Preselecting the Cutting Depth", page 24) To compensate for inaccuracies created when breaking out the strip of material to be removed, it is recommended that the cutting depth be set approx. 5 mm deeper than the required groove depth.
- Place the power tool with the rollers (9) on the surface of the workpiece.
- Switch on the power tool.
- Press the front handle towards the workpiece so that the diamond cutting discs can plunge into the material beyond the base plate. There will be some slight initial resistance to get through.
– Guide the power tool by both handles and with a moderate feed motion that is suited to the material being machined. - The power tool must always work against the direction of rotation. If this is not done, there is a risk that it will push out of the cut in an uncontrolled manner. Guide the power tool in the working direction shown on the base plate.
- Once you have finished your work, swivel the power tool out of the groove with the motor still running.
- Switch the power tool off.
- The combination of a return spring and the initial resistance prevents the diamond cutting discs from protruding when the power tool is placed upright on the floor or a table as normal. If the power tool is in the starting position, i.e. the bar (31) is engaged in the hook (32), this minimises the risk of the power tool moving (due to frictional contact between the rotating diamond cutting discs and the surface on which it is placed) or damaging the surface if accidentally switched on. However, if the power tool is not in the starting position due to the application of force (e.g. set down heavily), the diamond cutting discs may briefly touch the surface or rest on it.
Do not attempt to reduce the speed of protruding diamond cutting discs by applying pressure from the side.
Diamond cutting discs become very hot while working; do not touch them until they have cooled.

(34)Use the break-out tool (34) to remove the remaining strip of material.
Curved cuts cannot be made, because this would cause the diamond cutting discs to jam in the workpiece.

When cutting through plate materials, these must be laid on a firm base or otherwise supported.
When breaking through walls (e.g. with a rotary hammer), you can largely prevent the material from chipping on the surface if you first use the wall chaser to create a groove with the maximum cutting depth.
When cutting particularly hard materials such as concrete with a high pebble content, the diamond cutting disc can overheat and become damaged as a result. This is clearly indicated by circular sparking, rotating with the diamond cutting disc.
If this happens, stop cutting and allow the diamond cutting disc to cool down by running the power tool for a short time at maximum speed with no load.
A noticeable slowdown in work progress or circular sparking are signs that the diamond cutting disc has become blunt. You can resharpen the disc by briefly cutting into abrasive material (e.g. lime-sand brick).
Information on structural design
Recesses in load-bearing walls are subject to country-specific regulations. These regulations must be observed under all circumstances. Seek advice from the responsible structural engineer, architect or construction supervisor before starting work.

Maintenance and Cleaning
▶ Before carrying out any work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance, tool change etc.), remove the battery from the power tool. There is risk of injury from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch.
▶ To ensure safe and efficient operation, always keep the power tool and the ventilation slots clean.
▶ Do not use compressed air to clean the power tool, else you may stir up hazardous dust.
Remove the clamping devices after completing the work and clean all clamping elements as well as the protective guard. Store and handle the accessories carefully.
