How do I pair the Freedom Buddy earphones with my phone?

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Remove both earphones from the charging case: they will turn on automatically and enter pairing mode. On your phone, search for Bluetooth devices and select Hama Freedom Buddy. If a password is required, enter 0000. Once connected, you will hear the Connected announcement.

How do I turn the earphones on and off?

To turn on, remove the earphones from the charging case or press and hold the MFB button for 2-3 seconds until you hear Power on. To turn off, place the earphones back in the charging case or press and hold the MFB button for about 5 seconds until you hear Power off. The earphones will turn off automatically after 5 minutes without connection.

What should I do if the earphones do not connect to my device?

Check that the earphones are on and Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Make sure the earphones are within one meter of your device. If the problem persists, forget the device in Bluetooth settings and repeat the pairing procedure. You can also reset the earphones by placing them back in the case and closing the lid.

How do I charge the earphones and charging case?

Place the earphones in the charging case according to the L/R markings. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the case and to a suitable USB charger. During charging, the case LEDs flash white. Full charging of the earphones takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, as does the case. Use only a suitable charger.

What is the battery life of the earphones?

The earphones provide about 4 hours of music playback and 3 hours of talk time. The charging case provides additional charges, bringing total battery life to about 16 hours of music and 12 hours of talk time. Standby time is about 200 hours.

How do I activate the Extra Bass function?

During music playback, press the MFB button on the left or right earphone three times. You will hear the Bass Mode announcement to activate bass boost. To deactivate, press the MFB button three times again; you will hear Equal Mode.

How do I answer or reject a call with the earphones?

To answer an incoming call, press the MFB button on the left or right earphone once. To reject a call, press and hold the MFB button for about 1-2 seconds. To end a current call, press the MFB button once.

How do I control music playback (pause, next/previous track)?

To pause or resume playback, press the MFB button once. To go to the next track, press and hold the MFB button on the right earphone for 1-2 seconds. To go back to the previous track, press and hold the MFB button on the left earphone for 1-2 seconds.

What should I do if only one earphone works or the sound is unbalanced?

Check that both earphones are properly placed in the charging case and that their contacts are clean. Make sure the volume is balanced on your device. If the problem persists, reset the earphones by placing them back in the case, closing the lid for a few seconds, then try again. If one earphone is still silent, contact customer service.

How do I clean and maintain the Freedom Buddy earphones?

4. Switch On/Off

Remove the two earphones simultaneously from the charging box. Both earphones switch on automatically and start the pairing process. The announcement "Power on" is heard.

To switch them off, simply place the earphones back in charging box. Ensure that the earphones are inserted into the correct sides, using the L/R markings as a guide. Then close the charging box

Alternative:

Press the MFB button (4) on the left and right earphones for approx. 2-3 seconds until you hear the announcement "Power on."

With the earphones switched on, hold the MFB button (4) on the left or right earphone down for approx. seconds until you hear the announcement "Power off".

Note - Automatic switch-off of the earphones

The earphones are equipped with an automatic switch-off mechanism. If there is no connection to y device within 5 minutes, it switches itself off automatically.

5. Charging

Fully charge the earphones and the charging box once before using them for the first time

Place the earphones in the charging box. Ensure that the earphones are inserted into the correct sides, using the L/R markings as a guide

Connect the USB-C charging cable included to the charging socket (7) on the charging box.

Connect the free plug on the USB-C charging cable to a suitable USB charger. To do this, consult the operating instructions for the USB charger you are using.

2 Charging procedure for the charging box and earphones

The status LEDs on the charging box (2) light up white during the charging process. After the charging box is fully charged, the 3 LEDs on the charging box light up white. It can take up to 2 hours (earphones) or up to 2 hours (charging box) until the batteries are charged.

Earphone

When battery levels are low (< 20%), the status LED (3) on the earphones flashes red every 5 seconds. The announcement "Battery Low" is made once a minute.

The actual battery life will vary depending on how you use the device, the settings and the air temperatures (rechargeable batteries have a limited life).

Note

If you have not used the product for a few months, it can take up to 15 - 30 minutes until status LED (2/3) lights up red during the charging process

6. Bluetooth pairing

• Ensure that the Bluetooth-enabled device is switched on and that the Bleefunction is activated.
• Please refer to the operating instructions of your device for more information.

The earphones and the device should not be more than 1 metre apart. The shorter the distance, the better.

Ensure that the earphones are switched on.

Check the status of the status LED (3) and the announcements

If the status LEDs (3) on the earphones flash alternately:

the earphones are searching for a Bluetooth connection.

If the status LEDs (3) are flashing every 5 seconds:

the earphones are already paired with a Bluffet device.

Search using your device for the earphones (only required on the first connection)

Open the Bluetooth settings on your device and wait until the list of found Bluetooth shows Hama Freedom BuddyThe announcement "Pairing" is heard.

Select Hama Freedom Buddy and wait until the earphones are shown as connected in your device's Bluetooth settings. The announcement "Connected" is heard.

Some devices require a password in order to connect to another device
- If your device requests a password to connect to the product, enter 0000.

3 Disconnecting the Bluetoothconnection

Disconnect the earphones via your device's Bluetooth settings. The announcement "Disconnected" is heard

7.1 Voice assistant function

Siri/ Google

Press the MFB button (4) twice to initiate communication with your Siri or Google Assistant.

Siri is only available on suitable devices running iOS 5 (iPhone 4s or later) or higher.

• The Google Assistant is only available on suitable devices running Android 5.0 or higher with Google Play Services, >1.5 GB of free memory and a minimum screen resolution of 720P.
• The Google Assistant App must be available on your device and be set as the default voice assistant.

7.2 Additional bass amplification

These headphones are equipped with an extra bass function to amplify the bass effect.

Extra Bass Boost

Tap the MFB button (4) on the left or right earphone three times to enable this function while music is playing. The announcement "Bass Mode" is heard.

To switch this function off again, press the MFB button (4) on the left or right earphone three times again. The announcement "Equal Mode" is heard.

7.3 Hands-free function

Make a call

Dial the number directly via your device to make a call

Accept a call

Briefly tap the MFB button (4) on the left or right earphone accept an incoming call

Reject a call

To reject an incoming call, tap and hold the MFB button (4) on the left or right earphone for around 1-2 seconds.

4 End a call

During the call, press the MFB button (4) on the left or right earphone once to end the call.

5 Last number redial

You can redial the last number you called via the voice assistant function (7.1).

7.4 Audio playback

Start playback on your device.
Play / Pause

Tap the MFB button (4) on the left or right earphone once to start or stop audio playback.

Next track

Tap and hold the MFB button (4) on the right earphone for around 1-2 seconds to skip to the next track.

7.5 Volume control

The volume is controlled by the voice assistant function (7.1).
