Frequently Asked Questions - biOrb Classic OASE

How do I turn on the lighting on my biOrb Classic?

Use the on/off switch on the lighting unit to turn it on. Then you can use the remote control to adjust colors and intensity.

How do I clean the lighting unit?

Use a special biOrb cleaning cloth (ref. 46027) to wipe the bottom part without scratching. The top part can be wiped with a damp cloth. Never immerse the unit.

What should I do if the lighting does not turn on?

Check the power connection, the on/off switch, and the remote control. If the remote control does not work, reduce the distance or replace the CR2025 battery.

How do I change the remote control battery?

Turn the remote over, open the battery compartment, remove the tray, replace the CR2025 battery observing polarity, then replace the tray.

How do I set the day/night cycle?

Press one of the cycle buttons (8, 10, 12 or 14 HR). The cycle simulates a 15-minute sunrise, 7.5 hours of daylight, a 15-minute sunset, and 16 hours of blue night light.

What is the power of the lighting?

The MCR LED lighting unit has a power of 2.8 W, with an energy efficiency of 74 lm/W (small model) or 72 lm/W (large). Energy class A+.

Can I use other bulbs?

No, the lighting is integrated and not replaceable. Use exclusively the LED unit supplied by OASE.

Is the device waterproof?

No, the lighting unit is not waterproof. Never immerse it. Protect plug connections from moisture.

How do I recycle the device at the end of its life?

The device contains electronic components: do not dispose of it with household waste. Cut the cable to make it unusable and take it to a recycling point. Batteries must be removed and recycled separately.

What is the warranty period?

OASE offers a manufacturer's warranty of 24 months from the date of first purchase from an authorized dealer. It covers manufacturing defects but not wear and tear, accidental damage, or improper use.

• Only allow children to carry out cleaning and user maintenance under supervision.
• Never immerse the unit in water or other liquids.
• Switch off all units in the aquarium or disconnect the power plugs of all units before reaching into the water.
• Do not use the unit if electrical cables or housings are damaged.
• Disconnect the power plug before carrying out any work on the unit.

SAFETY INFORMATION

• Never operate the unit if the housing is defective!
• Never operate the unit if any electrical cables are defective!
• Never carry or pull the unit by the electrical cable.
• Route cables such that they are protected from damage and do not present a tripping hazard.
• Power connection cables cannot be replaced. If the cable is damaged, the unit must be disposed of.

Intended use

biOrb MCR LED, referred to in the following as "unit", may only be used as specified in the following:

For lighting a biOrb CLASSIC, biOrb LIFE, biOrb FLOW, biOrb TUBE aquarium.

- Operation under observance of the technical data.

The following restrictions apply to the unit:

• Only intended for connection to a biOrb transformer.
• Only use indoors and for aquaristic purposes in the home (not for commercial use).

Function description

Individually adjustable lighting for the aquarium biOrb; can be set by remote control (included in the delivery scope).

Possibility for cyclical lighting:

A gradually changing light in colour and brightness during a 24 hour day, simulating daylight and night light. Blue night light (dimmed to 20%), white daylight (100%).

INSTALLATION, CONNECTION, START-UP

CAUTION

Strong LED radiation!

Possible consequences: Eye injury due to light flash.

- Never look into the light source.

Prerequisite:

- The plug-in transformer of the aquarium has been disconnected from the power supply.

- Insert the lighting unit into the cover of the biOrb aquarium.

1. Insert the plug of the lighting unit into the separate socket of the plug-in transformer.

2. Insert the plug-in transformer into the socket. — Ensure that all connection cables form a drip loop.

3. Actuate the switch of the lighting unit for switching on/off.

4. Carry out further settings with the aid of the remote control.

- When the lighting unit is switched on and off with the ON/OFF switch, the current settings for the mode and "Automatic" are retained.

CLEANING

Cleaning cloths are available as OASE biOrb Reinigungstücher Set (46027).

How to proceed:

- Bottom surface of the lighting unit: Wipe with a special cleaning cloth to avoid scratches.

- Wipe the top with a damp cloth.

2. Pull the battery holder completely out and change the batteries.

• Switch on the lighting unit with the ON/OFF switch.

Cycle function

Example for the 8 HR cycle. When the 10, 12 or 14 HR button is selected, the time for "Daylight" and "Night light" changes accordingly. "Day light" is always reduced by 30 minutes for "Sunrise" and "Sunset". Total duration of a cycle: 24 h.

For this OASE unit purchased by you, OASE GmbH assumes a 24 month manufacturer's guarantee in accordance with the guarantee conditions laid down in the following. The guarantee period starts with the first purchase from an OASE specialist dealer. In other words, in the event of a resale, the guarantee period will not start again. If services are provided under the terms of this guarantee, this does not lead to extension or renewal of the guarantee period. Your legal rights as a purchaser, especially those ensuing from the warranty, persist. They are not restricted by this guarantee.

Guarantee conditions

OASE GmbH guarantees impeccable, purpose-related properties and workmanship, expert assembly and proper functionality. Subject to our discretion, the guarantee refers to free-of-charge repair or free-of-charge supply of spare parts or of a replacement unit respectively. Should the unit type concerned no longer be manufactured, we reserve the right, at our discretion, to supply a replacement unit from our range that is closest to the type subject to complaint. Claims, the origin of which can be traced back to installation and operating faults as well as lack of care, e.g. the use of unsuitable cleaning materials or negligent maintenance, use other than that intended, damage due to accidents, falls, impact, effect of frost, cutting plugs, shortening cables, calcium deposits or improper attempts to repair the unit, are not covered by our guarantee. We hereby refer to the proper use as specified in the instructions of use that form an integral part of the guarantee. Wear parts such as bulbs etc. are exempted from the guarantee.

The refund of costs for removal and installation, checks, claims for lost profit and damages are exempted from the guarantee together with further reaching claims for damages and loss of whatever nature caused by the unit or its use.

The guarantee is only valid in the country in which the unit was purchased from an OASE dealer. This guarantee is governed by German law under the exclusion of the agreement of the United Nations covering contracts governing the international sale of goods (CISG) regulations.
