Packing material and small parts must not be used as toys. There is risk of asphyxiation.
Children must not perform cleaning or user maintenance tasks without supervision. Child- ren must not play with the appliance. Keep the appliance away from children when it is switched on, connected to the mains socket or cooling down. Persons with sensory disorder, particularly decreased sensitivity for temperature die- rences must be very careful when using this appliance. About hot steam WARNING!Hot steam and hot surfaces! Risk of scalding. Never direct the steam jet at people, ani- mals or plants. Point the steam jet downwards towards the surface to be cleaned only. Even then, be sure that no body parts are exposed to the steam jet. Never point the steam jet at electrical appli- ances, mains sockets, cords, etc. There is a risk of electric shock. Do not use the appliance to clean pressure vessels, tanks lled with liquids or tanks who- se content you do not know. There is risk of bursting and explosion. Allow the hot appliance and accessories to cool down before touching them. Only use the handle to carry the appliance. Make sure that you do not use the appliance too long in one place or with a moist or wet microbre pad. Otherwise, the surface could get damaged. Ensure good ventilation during and after cleaning.
17 If you are not sure whether your ooring is suitable for steam cleaning, consult the manu- facturer rst and have him conrm compatibi- lity. Otherwise, the surface could get damaged. Test the appliance on a concealed area. Information on the power supply The appliance is operated with electrical current. Thus there is always a risk of electrical shock. You must therefore observe the following: Never point the steam jet at appliances that contain electronic components, like the inside of an oven. Keep the steam jet away from mains sockets and the power cord. Do not allow mains sockets and power cord to come in contact with heat or steam. Otherwise, the power cord may be damaged, which can lead to electric shock. Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Fill the dual tank only after cleaning is completed and plug is pulled. Ensure that other parts of the appliance remain dry. Pull the plug from the mains socket after use and before maintenance. Never carry the appliance by its power cord. Completely unwind the power cord before use. If you want to pull the power cord out of the mains socket, always pull directly on the plug. Never pull on the power cord. Make sure that the power cord is not kinked, trapped or run over, does not come into contact with heat sources or become a trip hazard. Always check the power cord for possible damage before using the appliance. Do not use an appliance with a defective cord or plug. If you need an extension cord, use only saf- ety-certied, water-protected single extension cords (no multi-socket distributors) designed for the high power consumption of the appliance. Before cleaning the appliance or performing maintenance, make sure that the appliance is switched o and unplugged. Do not leave the appliance unattended as long as the plug is inserted in the mains socket. The appliance must not be used if it has fallen, if it has obvious signs of damage, or if it is not leak tight. About optionally available detergent Only use the detergent included in the scope of supply or ordered from us. Otherwise there is a risk of re or explosion! Never use cle- aners which contain alcohol, solvents (thinners, benzene, acetone), strong acids or alkalis or any other aggressive detergents including waxes, polishes or scouring agents. Do not add detergents or any other addi- tives such as alcohol, perfumes or chemicals into the water tank. These make the use of the appliance unsafe. Keep the detergent out of the reach of chil- dren. If swallowed there is a risk of poisoning! Keep it away from eyes and mucous membranes in particular. Carefully pour it into the detergent tank. If included in the scope of supply, use the relling container provided to do so. If you have sensiti- ve skin, wear gloves when lling. Wash your hands after handling the deter- gent.
EN Also adhere to the instructions on the deter- gent bottle. Do not clean surfaces which come into contact with food with the appliance or the detergent. Never ll the detergent into the water tank. If the appliance is faulty If the appliance or the power cord are damaged, they will need to be replaced by the manufac- turer, the manufacturer's customer service de- partment or a similarly qualied person in order to prevent hazards. Do not use the appliance if it has fallen, is damaged or leaks, has been immersed in water or left outdoors. Hand over a faulty appliance to an authori- sed dealer or send it to the Dirt Devil customer service department for repairs, > „International Services“ on page 2. About proper use This appliance is intended for domestic use only. It is not suitable for industrial or commercial use. Use the appliance only to clean normally soiled surfaces that withstand the high temper- ature, pressure and moisture of the hot steam. When handled in a cautious and skilled man- ner, the appliance can also be used to freshen carpets, curtains, clothing, etc. Any other use is considered improper use and is prohibited. In particular, the following is prohibited: Use – in the vicinity of explosive or highly am- mable substances or pressure vessels Risk of re, explosion and bursting! – as room humidier or space heating sys- tem – of non-original accessories Impairment of appliance safety! – outdoors Risk of damage due to rain and dirt! Steam cleaning of – persons, animals or plants including cloth- ing that is still being worn – surfaces which contain harmful materi- als. The hot steam might release these ma- terials. – textiles made from acrylic bre, dralon, vel- vet or linen. These might be damaged. – non-tempered glass surfaces. These might crack as a result of thermal shock. – leather, furniture, unsealed, lacquered, oiled or waxed wood or parquet ooring as well as surfaces made of soft or shiny plas- tic material. These might be damaged.
19 Filling the water tank with liquids other than cold water. Additives in the water tank make the appliance unsafe. Hot or boiling water will damage the appliance. About storage The steam cleaner is not free-standing and must be stored in the wall mount or securely placed against the wall. Store the appliance in a cool, dry place, out of the reach of children. 21Steam cleaning WARNING! Be particularly careful when cleaning stairs. CAUTION! Vacuum your carpets thoroughly prior to steam cleaning and make sure that your hard oors are clean and free of grit and debris. NOTE: The steam cleaner will turn o if it overheats: Turn it o and allow it to cool down for at least 2 to 4 hours. Cleaning hard oors CAUTION! The steam poses a risk of slipping. Before enter-ing the cleaned oors, wait until they are com-pletely dry. CAUTION! Never use the appliance without a microbre pad attached to the steam base. CAUTION! Not all ooring can withstand the exposure to steam and moisture. Consult the oor manufac-turer and have him conrm compatibility. Other-wise, the ooring could get damaged. Place the microbre pad on the oor with white side pointing upwards. Place the oor nozzle on the microbre pad and make sure that it covers the en-tire steam base (g.
Insert the plug into a mains socket. Place the On/O button in ‘On’ po-sition (g.
). ➔ The steam ready indicator is lit. The steam cleaner starts heating up. As soon as the steam ready indicator lights up in green, the steam cleaner is ready for use. The steam cleaner is au-tomatically set to maximum steam jet without de-tergent. To change the steam jet, press the program selector key (g.
) until the corresponding pro-gram is lit (g.

Using compact brush The integrated compact brush can be used to reach corners and dicult to access areas. Fix the outer glider with your foot and pull the steam cleaner from the outer glider (g.
To reattach the glider, position the glider and press the steam cleaner with compact brush onto the glider (g.
Refreshing carpets CAUTION! Never use the appliance without a microbre pad attached to the steam base. Use carpet glider only to refresh carpets.See > "Cleaning hard oors" auf Seite 22. In addition, use the carpet glider. Push steam base with microbre pad into the front of carpet glider (g. ). Then press the rear part of the steam base into the clip. After the steam cleaner has cooled down, press the clip down with your foot and lift steam cleaner to remove the carpet glider. Using steam cleaner without steam base

Pull plug from the mains socket and wind cord around the quick cord release hooks (g.
Maintaining the appliance Emptying the dual tank WARNING! Hot surface! Only empty the dual tank when the steam cleaner is cooled down. Remove the dual tank, > "Removing the dual tank" auf Seite 21. Empty any excess water into a sink. Rinse detergent tank with water and close both tanks again. Reinsert dual tank in steam cleaner. Washing microbre and textile pad CAUTION! Do not use bleach or fabric softener when wash-ing the microbre or textile pad. Wash microbre pad in the washing machine (max. 40 °C) or hand-wash textile pad. Allow the washed pad to dry completely for at least 24 hours. Cleaning compact brush
Activate the release for the telescopic tube and re-move telescopic tube with appliance body. Pull the compact brush from the glider. Wash the com-pact brush under running water (max. 40 °C).
Allow the washed brush to dry completely for at least 24 hours. Replacing water lter CAUTION! Use steam cleaner only with water lter. Depend-ing on water hardness and frequency of use, the lter must be replaced every 3 to 6 months. Remove the dual tank, > "Removing the dual tank" auf Seite 21. Pull water lter o towards the front (g.
Insert the new water lter by push-ing it into the opening. Reinsert the dual tank.

After clearing the blockage, remove the descaler rod and carefully tap appliance body in up-right position against a hard surface to remove dirt residues (g.
