Any other use is not permitted. The lawn mower is suitable for private use in the garden only. Lawn mowers for private use are those which are used for cutting grass and lawns in the garden, however not for cutting grassinpublicparks,playingeldsoronfarms or in forests. Working hours for electric lawn mowers While it is permitted to use a lawn mower at any time, operators should always show due consideration to others living nearby. Monday – Saturday 7.00–12.00 15.00–19.00 Not allowed on Sundays and bank holidays! 5 ASSEMBLY When assembling this appliance, please follow the instructions for assembly prin- ted towards the end of the manual. 6 SWITCHING ON THE UNIT

Do not switch on the unit until it has been completely assembled. Before switching on the unit, always check the connection cable for signs of damage; only an undamaged connection cable may be used. Damaged connection cables are highly dangerous! Power connection Themainsvoltage(230V~)indicatedonthe rating plate must correspond with the mains power supply. Mains connection fuse: min. 10A. 1)Insertthemainsplugoftheunitconnection cable into the combined switch/plug. 2)Securewiththecablegrip.Theloopofthe mainscablemustbeadequatelylongsothat the cable grip can slide from one side to the other. Switching on the motor Do not start the motor in tall grass. 1)PresstheOnbuttononthecombinedswitch/ plug. Hold down the On button. 2)Pullthesafetyleveragainstthehandleand hold in position – the safety lever does not lock into position. Release the On button. While mowing, lay the connection cable safely on footpaths and on areas which have already been mown. en-4 EnglishEnglish Switching off the motor Release the safety lever. The safety lever automatically returns to the zero position. When the motor has been switched off, the cutter continues running for several seconds – therefore do not touch the underside of the mower un- til the cutter has come to a standstill! Wait few seconds before restart the engine again Setting the cutting height All wheels must be at the same height! Switching on the wheel drive - (appliesonly tounitswithawheeldrive) 1)Pressthegearswitchleveragainsttheupper handle and keep hold – the gear switch lever does not lock into position. Drivingspeed:approx.3.3km/h Switching off the wheel drive Release the gear switch lever.

7 MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Before performing any maintenance orcleaning work, always pull out the mains plug! Do not spray the unit with water. Access of water may destroy the switch-plug combination unit and the electric motor. Clean the unit with a cloth, hand brush, etc. Expert inspection is required: a)ifthelawnmowerstrikesanobject b)ifthemotorstopssuddenly c)ifthebladeisbent(donotalign!) d)ifthemotorshaftisbent(donotalign!) e)ifashort-circuitoccurswhenthecableis connected f)ifthegearsaredamaged g)iftheV-beltisdefective Replacing and sharpening the mowing blade At the end of the mowing season always sharpen the mowing blade or,ifrequired, replace the mowing blade with a new one. Always have the mowing blade sharpened or replaced by a customer service centre (measurementofimbalance). Unbalanced blades will cause the lawn mower to vibrate violently – risk of accident! Followingmaintenanceprocedures (e.g. removalofthemowingblade)an insulation protection test must be conducted on the insulating parts in compliance with the VDE 701guidelinescustomerservicecentre. Storing the unit After mowing, clean the unit thoroughly.Store the unit in a dry room – allow the motor to cool down beforehand.To reduce storage space, the upper handle can be folded down.Unscrew the wing nuts by approx. 6 revolutions.
