Disengage any drives. - If the lawn mower has to be lifted before it can be started, the cutter must be facing away from the user. - Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts. - The lawn mower may only be used in compliance with the safety distance provided by the guide handle. - Ensure that you have a secure footing. - Never lift or carry the lawn mower while the motor is running. Wait until the cutter has come to a standstill and pull out the mains plug. - Always cut across a slope. Never mow up or down slopes or at an incline greater than 15°. -Caution when changing direction of travel or when mowing backwards. - Guide the lawn mower at walking pace only. Do not leave the lawn mower unsupervised. Maintenance and storage Before performing any workontheunit: - Switch off the electric motor, wait until the blade has come to a standstill and pull out the mains plug. - If working near the blade, always wear protective gloves. - Do not spray the lawn mower with water. The lawn mower must be repaired by authorised specialist companies only. Spare parts and accessories - Use original spare parts and accessories only. - We reserve the right to introduce changes to the design and model without prior notice. Safety devices Safety lever Release the safety lever in case of danger. Motor and cutter will stop in few second. Do not disable the function of the safety lever. Protective devices Rear ap (gravel guard) Protective devices prevent injury from objects ejected by the cutter. Any other use is not permitted. The lawn mower is suitable for private use in the garden only. Lawn mowers for private use are those which are used for cutting grass and lawns in the garden, however not for cutting grassinpublicparks,playingeldsoronfarms or in forests. Non-permitted users: Persons who are not familiar with the operating manual, children, young people under the age of16aswellaspersonsundertheinuenceof alcohol, drugs or medication must not operate the unit. Working hours for electric lawn mowers While it is permitted to use a lawn mower at any time, operators should always show due consideration to others living nearby. Monday – Saturday 7.00–12.00 15.00–19.00 Not allowed on Sundays and bank holidays! 5 ASSEMBLY When assembling this appliance, please follow the instructions for assembly prin- ted towards the end of the manual. Protection of the environment, disposal The packaging material is made of recyclable materials. Dispose of packaging materials in accordance with regulations.

6 SWITCHING ON THE UNIT

Do not switch on the unit until it has been completely assembled. Before switching on the unit, always check the connection cable for signs of damage; only an undamaged connection cable may be used. Damaged connection cables are highly dangerous! Power connection Themainsvoltage(230V~)indicatedonthe rating plate must correspond with the mains power supply. Mains connection fuse: min. 10A. 1)Insertthemainsplugoftheunitconnection cable into the combined switch/plug. 2)Securewiththecablegrip.Theloopofthe mainscablemustbeadequatelylongsothat the cable grip can slide from one side to the other. Switching on the motor Do not start the motor in tall grass. 1)PresstheOnbuttononthecombinedswitch/ plug. Hold down the On button. 2)Pullthesafetyleveragainstthehandleand hold in position – the safety lever does not lock into position. Release the On button. While mowing, lay the connection cable safely on footpaths and on areas which have already been mown. en-4 EnglishEnglish Switching off the motor Release the safety lever. The safety lever automatically returns to the zero position. When the motor has been switched off, the cutter continues running for several seconds – therefore do not touch the underside of the mower un- til the cutter has come to a standstill! Wait few seconds before restart the engine again Setting the cutting height All wheels must be at the same height! Switching on the wheel drive - (appliesonly tounitswithawheeldrive) 1)Pressthegearswitchleveragainsttheupper handle and keep hold – the gear switch lever does not lock into position. Drivingspeed:approx.3.3km/h Switching off the wheel drive Release the gear switch lever.

7 MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Before performing any maintenance orcleaning work, always pull out the mains plug! Do not spray the unit with water. Access of water may destroy the switch-plug combination unit and the electric motor. Clean the unit with a cloth, hand brush, etc. Expert inspection is required: a)ifthelawnmowerstrikesanobject b)ifthemotorstopssuddenly c)ifthebladeisbent(donotalign!) d)ifthemotorshaftisbent(donotalign!) e)ifashort-circuitoccurswhenthecableis connected f)ifthegearsaredamaged g)iftheV-beltisdefective Replacing and sharpening the mowing blade At the end of the mowing season always sharpen the mowing blade or,ifrequired, replace the mowing blade with a new one. Always have the mowing blade sharpened or replaced by a customer service centre (measurementofimbalance). Unbalanced blades will cause the lawn mower to vibrate violently – risk of accident! Followingmaintenanceprocedures (e.g. removalofthemowingblade)an insulation protection test must be conducted on the insulating parts in compliance with the VDE 701guidelinescustomerservicecentre. Storing the unit After mowing, clean the unit thoroughly.Store the unit in a dry room – allow the motor to cool down beforehand.To reduce storage space, the upper handle can be folded down.Unscrew the wing nuts by approx. 6 revolutions. Caution: Do not trap the electric cable when folding down the handle. en-58 TROUBLESHOOTING Before performing any maintenance or cleaning work, always pull out the mains plug and wait until the cutter has come to a standstill.
