Wipe the base of the appliance with a damp cloth, then let dry. You may notice foreign smell when first using the appliance, this does not mean its malfunction.
After the appliance transportation or storage at low temperature keep it at room temperature for at least two hours before plugging in.
II. OPERATING THE IRON
To fill water tank
- Ensure that the iron is unplugged from the electrical outlet. Turn the temperature control dial into "Min" position and the steam output control dial into "position.
- Open the water tank cap and tilt the iron. Using the measuring cup fill the tank below the "Max" fill line on the housing. Close the water tank.
- Position the iron vertically.
CAUTIONI Do not fill directly from the faucet to prevent water from entering the appliance or spilling on the power cord.
Use top water to fill the water tank. Do not fill the tank with distilled (demineralized), softened, or boiled water to prevent damage and prolong service life of the appliance.
If you have exceptionally hard water in your area use half distilled water and half tap water.
To select the temperature
The REDMOND RI-C222-E Steam Iron is equipped with a temperature control dial. The dial is provided with standard symbols of temperature modes and the names of fabrics.
Tum the temperature control dial to align the name of fabric with the cursor on the housing (refer to "Fabric Ironing Chart"). The heating indicator on the housing will light up to indicate heating. Once the soleplate reaches the required temperature the heating indicator will go out, indicating that the iron is ready to use.
Steam ironing
The most efficient steam ironing can be achieved in or temperature modes.
Turn the steam output control dial into the required position. If the dial is in position the steam feature is disabled (use the mode for dry ironing). Turn the steam output control dial in direction towards a position to increase the steam output.
Plug in the iron. Heating indicator on the housing will light up to indicate the heating. Once the soleplate reaches the required temperature the heating indicator will go out, indicating that the iron is ready to use.
NOTE! Constant steam is only generated when the iron is in horizontal position and set to high temperature. If the steam feature is enabled (the steam output control dial is not in position) and the temperature setting is too low, water may drip from the soleplate.
Steam Shot
The Steam Shot feature is used to eliminate stubborn wrinkles. The feature can be used during steam ironing when the heating indicator on the housing is out. If the heating indicator is lit, wait for the soleplate to reach the selected temperature before using the Steam Shot feature. The Steam output control dial must not be in a position.
Briefly press the Steam Shot button during ironing for extra steam. Allow an interval of 2-3 seconds between the shots. Steam Shot feature can be used for vertical steaming.
NOTE! When the iron is set to low temperature (position) water may drip from the soleplate, the Steam Shot feature may not be applicable.
Vertical steam
The REDMOND RI-C222-E Steam Iron can be used in an upright position to remove wrinkles from hanging drapes, curtains, tulle, as well as dress clothes without taking them off the hangers.
- Turn the steam output control dial into position.
- Turn the temperature control dial into "Max" position.
- Wait until the soleplate reaches the required temperature (the heating indicator goes out).
- Hold the iron vertically with the soleplate facing the garment. To avoid burning delicate fabrics hold the iron a few centimeters away from the garment.
- Move the iron from top to bottom briefly pressing the Steam Shot button. Return to horizontal position every fifth time you press the button.
- If heating indicator lights up, stop steaming and wait for the soleplate to reach the required temperature. Resume the steaming after the heating indicator goes out.
STOP CAUTIONIe The iron generates high temperature steami Do not touch steam to prevent burning. Never iron clothes on the body!
Dry ironing
You can use the iron for dry ironing even if the water tank is full. However, if using the feature for a long period of time do not fill the tank with too much water.
- Turn steam output control dial into position.
- Tum the temperature control dial to select the temperature appropriate for your fabric.
- After soleplate reaches selected temperature and heating indicator goes out, the iron is ready to use.
REDMONO
Water spray feature
Use the water spray feature to dampen hard-to-iron fabrics, remove stubborn wrinkles, and to iron difficult areas such as collars, etc. Press the water spray button to dampen the fabric.
slowly and smoothly for a dense spray
- quickly for vaporized spray
The feature can be used as often as required from any temperature mode, as long as there is enough water in the water tank.
Auto shut-off feature
The auto shut-off feature ensures safety and reduces energy consumption. The iron automatically shuts off when left unattended:
- after 30 seconds of inactivity in horizontal position or on its side (tipped over)
- after 8 minutes of inactivity in vertical position
After the auto shut-off occurs the soleplate stops heating, audible signal is heard, the auto shut-off indicator on the handle starts flashing. To continue ironing take the iron by the handle. The auto shut-off indicator will stop flashing, the heating indicator will light up. Once the soleplate reaches the required temperature the heating indicator will go out, indicating that the iron is ready to use.
Anti-drip feature
The anti-drip feature prevents water from dripping onto fabric and enables to iron even the most delicate garments. Use low temperature setting ( position) to iron delicate fabrics.
After each use
Turn the temperature control dial into "Min" position and the steam output control dial into position. Unplug the iron from electrical outlet. Open the water tank cap and gently shake the iron above the sink to empty the tank. Place the iron into a vertical position.
Wait for the soleplate to cool down thoroughly. Wind the cord around the heel of the iron. Store in vertical position.

III. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Self-clean feature
To remove scale and other debris from the steam holes on the soleplate carry out the self-cleaning procedure at least twice a month. The harder the water the more frequently the iron should be self-cleaned.
- Fill the water tank with water until the "Max" fill line.
- Disable the steam feature (turn the steam output control dial into position). Turn the temperature control dial into "Max" position. Plug in the iron.
- After the heating indicator goes out unplug the iron and position it horizontally above the sink.
- Press and hold down the "Calc Clean" button, swinging the iron lightly back and forth. Steam and hot water releasing from the soleplate will remove scale and other debris.
- By the end of the self-cleaning procedure open and empty the water tank.Close the cap.
- Wait for the soleplate to cool down thoroughly and wipe with damp cloth.
- Repeat the procedure if necessary.

NOTE! Use top water to carry out the self-cleaning procedure. Do not fill the water tank with
distilled (demineralized), softened, or boiled water for best results
To clean soleplate
Before cleaning the soleplate ensure that the iron is unplugged and cooled down thoroughly. Cool soleplate can be wiped with damp cloth or sponge. Do not use abrasive cleaners, aggressive chemicals, and abrasive or metal sponges.
Iron storage
The appliance must be stored in a dry location away from direct sunlight or heating appliances. Store the iron in vertical position to avoid damage to the soleplate. To keep the soleplate in good condition do not allow it to come into contact with metal and other hard or sharp objects.
Always store the iron empty to prevent the lime scale build-up that may stain fabric during ironing.
