Assembly

Caution: Switch garden tool off and remove battery from machine before adjusting or cleaning.

Mounting the nozzle (see figure B)

Slide the nozzle (5) onto the motor unit. Take care not to pinch your fingers during assembly.

Inserting/Removing the Battery (see figure C)

Note: Using unsuitable batteries can lead to malfunctions or damage the machine.

Insert the charged battery (6). Ensure the battery is inserted correctly.

To remove the battery (6) from the machine, press the battery unlocking button and pull the battery out.

Switching on

Before any work on the garden product itself (e.g. maintenance, tool change, etc.) as well as during transport and storage, remove the battery from the garden product. There is danger of injury when unintentionally actuating the On/Off switch. The machine continues to blow for a few seconds after being switched off. Allow the motor to stop rotating before switching "on" again. Do not rapidly switch off and on.

Charging the Battery

Observe the correct mains voltage! The voltage of the power supply must correspond with the data given on the nameplate of the battery charger. Battery chargers marked with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.

The battery is equipped with temperature monitoring that allows charging only in the temperature range between 0°C and 45°C. In this manner, a high battery service life is achieved.

Note: The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure full battery capacity, completely charge the battery in the battery charger before using for the first time.

The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging procedure does not damage the battery.

The "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)" protects the lithium-ion battery against deep discharging. When the battery is discharged, the machine is switched off by means of a protective circuit: The garden product no longer operates.

Do not continue to press the On/Off switch after an automatic shut-off of the machine. The battery can be damaged.

Charging Procedure

The charging procedure starts as soon as the mains plug of the charger is plugged into a socket outlet and the battery is inserted onto the charger.

Due to the intelligent charging method, the charging condition of the battery is automatically detected and the battery is charged with the optimum charging current, depending on battery temperature and voltage.

This gives longer life to the battery and always leaves it fully charged when kept in the charger for storage.

Meaning of the indication elements on the charger (AL 3620 CV/AL 3640 CV/AL 36V-20)

Rapid-charging Procedure

BOSCH ALB 36 LI - Rapid-charging Procedure - 1

The rapid-charging procedure is indicated by flashing of the green battery charge indicator.

Indication element of the battery: During the charging procedure, the three green LEDs light up one after the other and briefly go out. The battery is fully charged when the three green LEDs light up continuously. The three LEDs go out again approx. 5 minutes after the battery has been fully charged.

Note: The rapid-charging procedure is only possible when the battery temperature is within the allowable charging temperature range, see section "Technical Data".

Battery charged

BOSCH ALB 36 LI - Battery charged - 1

Continuous lighting of the green LED indicator indicates that the battery is fully charged. Additionally, a signal tone sounds for approx.

2 seconds, which acoustically indicates that the battery is fully charged.

Afterwards, the battery can be removed for immediate use.

When the battery is not inserted, continuous lighting of the LED indicator indicates that the mains plug is inserted in the socket outlet and that the battery charger is ready for operation.

Battery Temperature below 0°C or above 45°C

BOSCH ALB 36 LI - Battery Temperature below 0°C or above 45°C - 1

Continuous lighting of the red LED indicator indicates that the temperature of the battery is not within the allowable charging temperature

range, see section "Technical Data". As soon as the allowable charging temperature range is reached, the battery charger automatically switches to rapid charging.

When the battery is not within the allowable temperature range, the red battery LED lights up when inserting the battery into the battery charger.

No Charging Procedure Possible

BOSCH ALB 36 LI - No Charging Procedure Possible - 1

If a different malfunction of the charging procedure is present, this will be indicated through flashing of the red LED indicator.

The charging procedure cannot be started and the battery cannot be charged (see section Troubleshooting).

Charging Advice

With continuous or several repetitive charging cycles without interruption, the charger can warm up. This is not meaningful and does not indicate a technical defect of the battery charger.

A significantly reduced working period after charging indicates that the battery is used and must be replaced.

Observe the notes for disposal.

Battery Cooling (Active Air Cooling)

The fan control integrated into the charger monitors the temperature of the inserted battery. When the battery temperature is above 30°C, a fan cools down the battery to the optimal charging temperature. The fan generates a ventilation sound when switched on.

If the fan is not running, the battery temperature is within the optimum charge-temperature range or the fan is defective.

In this case, the charging time of the battery might be extended.

Active Air Cooling

The integrated fan in the charging unit cools the battery during charging. When the battery temperature exceeds 30 °C, the battery is cooled by the fan to achieve a lower temperature. The activated fan removes warm air.

If the fan does not operate, the battery temperature is limited to the lower temperature range during charging, or the fan is defective. In the second case, the charging time is extended.

Tips for the battery

In cases of prolonged charging without interruption of the charging cycle, the charger may become warm. This, however, is harmless and does not indicate a technical fault.

A significantly shorter operating time after charging indicates that the rechargeable battery has aged and must be replaced.

Pay attention to the notes on disposal.

Operation

Caution: Switch off the power tool and remove the battery before any maintenance or cleaning work.

Switching on/off (see figure D)

To switch on, slide the on/off switch (1) downwards.

The air flow rate is adjustable. To increase the air flow rate, slide the on/off switch (1) downwards. To reduce the

air flow rate, slide the on/off switch (1) upwards.

To switch off, slide the on/off switch (1) to the middle position.

Read the operating instructions (2) before using the product for the first time (5).

Charging procedure

The charging procedure starts as soon as the plug of the charging device is inserted into the socket and the battery is placed in the charging device.

Thanks to the intelligent charging procedure, the charging device automatically detects the charge level of the battery and selects the optimal charging current depending on temperature and voltage of the battery.

This battery is stored in the charging device. Thanks to this, the battery is always fully charged.

Meaning of the indicator elements on the charging device (AL 3620 CV/AL 3640 CV/AL 36V-20)

Fast charging mode

BOSCH ALB 36 LI - Fast charging mode - 1

Fast charging is indicated by the flashing green battery charge indicator.

Battery indicator: During the charging process, the green LEDs light up one after the other and then go out briefly. The battery is fully charged when the green LEDs light up constantly. Approximately 5 minutes after the end of charging, the green LEDs go out.

Note: Fast charging is only possible if the battery temperature is within the permissible range, see section "Technical Data".

Battery charged

BOSCH ALB 36 LI - Battery charged - 1

The continuous lighting of the green LED signals that the battery is fully charged.

Additionally, after approx. 2 seconds, an acoustic signal sounds, indicating that the battery is fully charged.

Immediately after this, the battery can be removed and used.

When the battery is inserted, the intermittent flashing of the indicator light signals that the mains plug is connected to the socket and the charging device is ready for operation.

Battery temperature below 0°C or above 45°C

BOSCH ALB 36 LI - Battery temperature below 0°C or above 45°C - 1

The continuous flashing of the red indicator light signals that the battery temperature is outside

the permissible temperature range; see Technical Data section. After the temperature returns to the permissible range, the charging device automatically switches to fast charging mode.

If the battery temperature is outside the permissible range, the red indicator light flashes when the battery is inserted into the charging device.

Charging impossible

BOSCH ALB 36 LI - Charging impossible - 1

If charging is impossible, the red indicator light flashes.

The charging process starts, charging is

Battery charging is possible (see section on troubleshooting).

Charging indication for the battery

With continuous or repeated charging without interruption, the charging device may heat up.

This, however, does not indicate a technical defect of the charging device.

A significant reduction in the operating time of the battery after charging indicates that the battery has reached the end of its service life and must be replaced.

Further instructions on use.

Battery cooling (Active Air Cooling)

The charging device has a fan control system that monitors the temperature of the inserted battery. If the battery temperature exceeds 30°C, the cooling fan will operate at its optimal speed. The fan creates noise during operation.

If the fan is not operating, it means that the battery temperature is within the optimal range, or the fan is faulty. In this case, the charging time of the battery will be extended.

Charging indication

Intermittent or repeated charging cycles without a break may cause the charging device to overheat. However, this does not indicate any technical defect of the charging device.

A significant reduction in the operating time of the battery after charging indicates that the battery has reached the end of its service life and needs to be replaced.

Consider the charging indication.

Operation

Attention! Before performing adjustment and cleaning work, switch off the device and remove the battery.

Switching on/off (see Fig. D)

To switch on, press the switch (1) backwards.

Assembly

Warning: Disconnect the garden power tool and remove the battery pack before adjusting or cleaning.

Mounting the trigger (see figure B)

Place the battery (5) on the power tool. When installing, make sure not to pinch the wires.

Inserting/removing the battery (see figure C)

Note: If unsuitable batteries are used, this may cause incorrect operation or damage to the machine.

Insert the charged battery (6). Make sure the battery is inserted properly.

To remove the battery (6) from the machine, press the battery release button and pull it out.

Switching on

Switching on the power tool: To switch on the power tool, press the on/off switch. To switch off, release the switch. The power tool is equipped with a safety switch to prevent accidental starting. Always ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting the battery.

Do not switch the power tool on and off in rapid succession.

Charging the battery

Attention: Charging voltage! The charging voltage must match the specifications on the charger's rating plate. Chargers marked with 230V can also be charged with 220V.

The battery has a temperature control that allows charging only in the range between 0°C and 45°C. This increases the service life.

Note: The battery is supplied partially charged. To achieve full capacity of the battery, before first use, charge the battery fully in the charger.

The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging process does not harm the battery. The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharge by the "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". When the battery is discharged, the power tool switches off via a protective circuit: The power tool stops and cannot be switched on.

Do not continue to press the on/off switch after the power tool has automatically switched off. This can damage the battery.

Charging

Before charging, make sure the charging device is connected to the battery pack and the battery pack is placed in the charging device.

Thanks to the intelligent charging process, the state of the battery pack is recognized and it is charged with the optimal current for the current temperature and voltage.

This extends the life of the battery pack, and when stored on the charging device, it is fully charged.

Meaning of the indicators on the charging device (AL 3620 CV/AL 3640 CV/AL 36V-20)
