USER MANUAL KEY 2-3 ULTRAFIX CHICCO
VERY IMPORTANT! TO BE READ IMMEDIATELY
- Read these instructions carefully before fitting and installing the product. The product must not be used by anybody who has not read these instructions.
- Keep this manual for future reference.
- WARNING! According to car accident statistics, the rear seats of a vehicle are generally safer than the front seat: it is therefore recommended to fit the child car seat into the rear seats of the car. In particular, the central rear seat is the safest, when fitted with a 3-point safety belt.
- It is recommended to ensure that all passengers know how to release the child from the car seat in the case of an emergency.
- If the child car seat is fitted in the front seat of the car with the front airbag installed, in order to ensure maximum safety, it is recommended to push the seat back as much as possible, bearing in mind the comfort of the passenger sitting in the seat directly behind it.
- Only fit the child car seat onto seats which are fastened to the car chassis and facing forwards. Make sure that all folding or rotating car seats are always firmly fastened in place, otherwise they could be dangerous.
- Pay close attention on how to fit the child seat into the vehicle, to prevent a loose seat or car door from interfering with it.
- No child car seat can guarantee the total safety of your child in the event of an accident, but the use of this product reduces the risk of serious injuries or death.
- The risk of serious injuries to the child increases, not only in the case of accidents, but also in other circumstances (i.e.: sudden braking etc.), if these instructions are not followed carefully.
- If the child car seat is damaged, deformed or worn out, it must be replaced, as its original safety features may have been compromised.
- This product must not be modified in any way, unless the manufacturer approves the modification.
- Do not install accessories, spare parts, or any component not supplied by the manufacturer.
- Never leave your child unattended in the car seat for any reason.
- Never place anything except an approved accessory between the vehicle seat and the child car seat or between the child car seat and the child: in the event of an accident, the child car seat may not operate correctly.
- It is highly recommended not to leave the car and child car seat in the sun for too long. This will prevent potential burns to the child and also
guarantee that the components and fabric colours will last longer. If the vehicle has been left in the sun, check that the different parts of the child car seat are not too hot before seating the child in it: in such an event, let the child car seat cool down first before placing the child inside. After an accident, even a slight one, the child seat incurs damage, even if it is not visible to the naked eye. It must therefore be replaced. Never use second-hand child car seats: they may have suffered structural damage which is not visible to the naked eye but however compromise the safety of the product. The seat fabric must only be replaced with another approved by the manufacturer as it constitutes an integral part of the child car seat. To ensure the safety of the child car seat, never use it without its fabric cover. Check that the car seat belts are not twisted and try to prevent them, or any other part of the car seat from getting trapped in the car door or rubbing against sharp objects. The child car seat must not be used when the car seat belts are cut or frayed. When the child car seat is not in use inside the vehicle, it should be left secured to the car’s seat, or stowed in the car’s boot. An unsecured child car seat may be a source of danger for the other passengers in the event of an accident or sudden braking. Do not transport loose or unsecured objects or baggage on the back shelf of the vehicle: in the event, of an accident or sudden braking, they may injure the passengers. Check that the car seat headrest does not interfere with the child seat headrest: do not push it forwards. If this is the case, remove the headrest from the car seat on which the child seat is fitted, without resting it on the luggage rack. Ensure that all the car passengers fasten their seat belt, for their own safety and because, during the journey, they may injure the child in the event of an accident or sudden braking of the car. 0n long journeys make frequent stops. Children tire easily. Never take your child out of the child seat whilst the car is moving for any reason. If your child needs attention, find a safe place and pull over. This product is expressly intended to be used only as a child car seat; it should not be used indoors. ARTSANA declines all responsibility for the incorrect use of this product.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- This child car seat is approved for “Group 2 and 3”, for the transportation of children from 15 to 36 Kg in weight, and conforms to European Standard ECE R44/04.
- This approval is “Universal”, which means that the child car seat can be used on all types of vehicles. WARNING! “Universal” means that it is compatible with most, but not all car seats.
- This child car seat is fitted with two Ultrafix clasps, which slot into the Isofix anchor points, where available in the car. These clasps provide extra stability for the child car seat when the child is sat inside and also when it is empty. WARNING! The Ultrafix clasps are an additional restraint fixture to be used in combination with the car safety belts: these safety belts must always be used to restrain the child and the child car seat.
1. This is a “Universal“ child restraint. It is approved
to Regulation No. 44.04 series of amendments, for general use in vehicles, and it will fit most, but not all car seats.
2. A correct fit is likely if the vehicle manufacturer
has declared that the vehicle is capable of accepting a “Universal” child restraint for this age group.
3. This child restraint has been classified as “Universal” under more stringent conditions than those
that were applied to earlier designs not displaying this notice.
4. Only suitable if the vehicle is fitted with a 3-point
static or 3-point retractor safety belt approved to UN/ECE Regulation No. 16, or other equivalent standards.
5. If in doubt, consult either the child restraint manufacturer or the retailer.
The Ultrafix clasps must always be used in combination with the car seat belts. The child car seat must never be installed using the Ultrafix clasps on their own. In order to use the Ultrafix clasps, it is necessary to check that the car is fitted with Isofix anchorage points, which will be found between the backrest and seat of the car’s seat. This child seat is approved for carrying children weighing from 15 to 36 kilos only. The car seat must be fitted with a 3-point static or 3-point retractor safety belts approved to UN/ ECE Regulation No.16, or other equivalent standards (Diag. 1). Never use the child car seat on a seat that is only equipped with a 2-point safety belt (diag. 2) You may find that the safety belt buckle is too long and exceeds the foreseen height in relation to the lower section of the child car seat (Diag. 3). In this case the child car seat must not be installed on that specific seat, and you should try installing it on a seat that does not have this inconvenience. Please contact the car manufacturer for further information on this aspect. The child car seat can be fitted onto the front passenger seat or any other back seats. Never use this child car seat on vehicle seats which are facing sideways or rearwards (Diag. 4) If the car is fitted with an adjuster to regulate the height of the car safety belts, position it as low as possible. Check that the car safety belt adjuster is behind or aligned with the backrest of the car seat (Diag. 5). To ensure correct installation, check that the car seat headrest does not interfere with the child seat backrest.
