Frequently Asked Questions - WPD 55 S Kärcher

How to install the Kärcher WPD 55 S water dispenser?
Place the device on a flat surface, away from frost. Connect the water inlet hose to the tap (pressure 1.5-6 bar) and plug the power cable into a socket protected by a 30 mA circuit breaker. Insert the combined filter and rinse the device for 5 minutes (cold water) then 4 minutes (sparkling water). Connect the CO₂ bottle or cylinder and set the pressure to 4 bar.
How to replace the CO₂ bottle?
Close the main valve of the empty bottle, turn the regulator to 0, unscrew the reducer. Remove the empty bottle. Briefly open the valve of the new bottle to vent liquid CO₂, screw on the reducer with a new gasket, tighten by hand. Secure the bottle with the strap, slowly open the valve and set the pressure to 4 bar. Perform a leak test.
How to perform the chemical cleaning every 6 months?
Close the water supply and the CO₂ bottle. Remove the filter, insert the service cup. Place the cleaning kit with 4 alkaline tablets, connect it to the water inlet. Turn on the water and switch on the device. Press the 'Chilled CO₂ water' button in cycles of 60 seconds (2 times), then 'Chilled water' for 30 seconds. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly until the blue color disappears.
What to do if the device does not dispense water?
Check that the water supply is open and the tap is not closed. Check the fuse (6 A) behind the fuse holder cover. If the power supply is OK and the problem persists, contact customer service.
How to change the water filter?
Close the water supply and drain the device by pressing the 'Chilled water' button. Open the filter cover lock, remove the side cover, pivot the filter holder outward, unscrew and remove the old filter. Insert the new filter by turning it until it stops, put the filter holder back in place, close the cover. Rinse for 5 minutes (cold water) then perform a chemical cleaning.
Does the sparkling water contain impurities?
No, the Hy-Pure-Plus combined filter retains chlorine, heavy metals, residues, bacteria and viruses while preserving minerals. Change the filter regularly to guarantee water quality.
What is the procedure for prolonged absence (more than 7 days)?
Close the water supply, turn off the device and close the CO₂ bottle. Upon return, turn on the water, restart the device. Depending on duration: 7-28 days: draw 5 L of each type of water and discard. More than 28 days: remove the filter, insert the service cup, draw 5 L, perform a chemical cleaning and replace the filter.
Can the device be used with a water softener?
The device is designed for public drinking water. If you use a water softener, ensure that the pressure and water quality remain compliant (1.5-6 bar, 5-30 °C). The combined filter is suitable for drinking water; water that is too soft could reduce filter efficiency.
How to clean the exterior of the device?
Use CA 30 R surface cleaner (ref. 6.295-686.0). Do not use products containing alcohol, aggressive or abrasive cleaners. Clean the drip tray with hot water or in the dishwasher. Avoid direct water jets.
What to do if the device emits an audible signal and the buttons flash?
This indicates a temperature regulation fault. Turn off the device and contact customer service. Do not attempt to repair yourself, except for operations described in the manual.
