SAFETY REQUIREMENTS - Your motor hoe must be used carefully. Symbols have therefore been placed on various parts of the machine to remind you of the main precautions to be taken. Their meaning is explained below. You are also asked to carefully read the safety regulations in the specific chapter of this manual. Replace damaged or illegible labels.

1. Warning: Read the instruction manual before using the machine.
2. Danger of cutting yourself. Moving milling cutters. Disconnect the spark plug cap and read the instructions before carrying out any maintenance or repairs.
3. Danger of cutting yourself. moving rotary tools.
4. Risk of thrown objects. Keep all persons away from the work area during use.

E) TRANSPORT ET DEPLACEMENT

IMPORTANT - READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE MACHINE. KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE

A) TRAINING

1) Read the instructions carefully. Become familiar with the controls and the proper use of the machine. Learn how to stop the engine quickly.
2) Only use the machine for the purpose for which it was designed, namely hoeing and loosening the ground. Any other usage may be hazardous and harm persons and/or damage things. Examples of improper use may include, but are not limited to:

• transporting persons, children or animals on the machine;
• letting oneself be transported by the machine;
  using the machine to tow or push loads;

• use of the machine by more than one person;

• operating the milling cutters on firm surfaces or with gravel or stones.

3) Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to use the machine. Local laws can restrict the minimum age of the operator.
4) Never use the machine:

• when people, especially children or pets are nearby;
• if the operator has taken medicine or substances that may impair his ability to react and be attentive.
  5) Bear in mind that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or unexpected events occurring to other people or their property.

B) PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS

1) While working, always wear sturdy footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the machine when barefoot or wearing open sandals.
2) Thoroughly inspect the entire work area and remove anything that could be thrown by the machine or damage the rotary tools or engine (stones, branches, iron wire, bones, etc.).
3) WARNING: DANGER! Petrol is highly flammable.

• store the fuel in suitable containers;
• add fuel using a funnel, only outdoors; never smoke while doing this and whenever fuel is handled;
• add petrol before starting the engine; never add petrol or remove the petrol tank cap while the engine is running or when it is hot;
• if you have spilt some petrol, do not attempt to start the engine but move the machine away from the area of spillage to avoid creating any source of ignition until the fuel has evaporated and fuel vapours have dissipated;
• always put the tank and fuel container caps back on and tighten well;
  4) Replace faulty silencers
  5) Before use, always inspect generally and in particular to see that the blade, screws and rotary tools are not worn or damaged. Replace damaged or worn milling cutters and screws to preserve balance.
  6) Before starting work, make sure the guards are fitted correctly.

C) DURING USE

1) Do not operate the engine in a confined space where dangerous carbon monoxide fumes can develop.
2) Work only in daylight or good artificial light.
3) Make sure you have a steady foothold on slopes.
4) Never run with the machine, always walk.
5) Always work transversally on slopes and never up and down
6) Be extremely carefully when changing directions on slopes.
7) Do not work on land that slopes more than 20^
8) Be extremely careful when you pull the machine toward you.
9) Do not change the engine settings or overspeed the engine.

10) Start up the engine carefully according to the instructions, keeping feet away from the rotary tools.
11) Never place your hands and feet near or under rotating parts.
12) Do not lift or transport the machine when the engine is running.
13) Stop the engine:

whenever you leave the machine unattended;
before refuelling;

14) Reduce the throttle setting before stopping the engine. Shut off the fuel supply when work is done, following the instructions in the engine manual.

And furthermore:

• Stop the rotary tools if the machine must be inclined, when moving over surfaces other than grass and when the machine is transported from or to the work area.

• Never operate the machine with damaged guards.

• Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug cable:

before doing anything to the rotary tools;
- before checking, cleaning or working on the machine;
- after striking a foreign object. Inspect the machine for damage and make repairs before restarting and operating the machine;

• if the machine begins to vibrate abnormally (Immediately look for the cause of vibration and take it to a Specialised Centre for necessary inspections).

• When working, always keep a safe distance from the rotary tools, given by the length of the handle.

1) Keep all nuts and screws tight to be sure the machine is in safe working condition. Routine maintenance is essential for safety and for maintaining a high performance level.
2) Do not store the machine with petrol in the tank in an area where petrol vapours could reach an open flame, a spark or a strong heat source.
3) Allow the engine to cool before storing the machine in any enclosure.
4) To reduce fire hazards, keep the engine, silencer, battery compartment and petrol storage area free of grass, leaves, or excessive grease.
5) For safety reasons, never use the machine when it has worn or damaged parts. Parts must be replaced and not repaired. Use original spare parts. Parts that are not of the same quality can damage the equipment and impair your safety.
6) If the fuel tank has to be emptied, this should be done outdoors once the engine has cooled down.

And furthermore:

• Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug cable before doing any maintenance;
• Wear work gloves to disassemble and reassemble rotary tools.

E) TRANSPORTATION AND HANDLING

1) Whenever the machine is to be handled, lifted, transported or tilted you must:
stop the engine;
- wear sturdy work gloves;
- grasp the machine at the points that offer a safe grip, taking account of the weight and its distribution.

use an appropriate number of people for the weight of the machine and the characteristics of the vehicle or the place where it must be placed or collected.
2) During transport, fasten the machine securely with cables or chains.

EN OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

For the engine, read the relative instructions manual.

NOTE - The number which precedes each paragraph links the references in the text to the respective illustrations (listed on page 2 and following pages).

1. COMPLETE ASSEMBLY

NOTE - The machine can be supplied with some parts already assembled.

WARNING - Unpacking and completing the assembly should be done on a flat and stable surface, with enough space for moving the machine and its packaging, always using suitable equipment.

Disposal of the packaging should be done in accordance with the local regulations in force.

1.1 Fitting the handle bar

Connect the tie rod (1) to the handlebar's two side elements (2a) and (2b).

Insert the two washers (3a, 3b) and tighten the two nuts (4) on both sides.

WARNING - The tie rod is an important safety feature and must therefore be correctly installed.

Fit the handlebar (2) on the support (8) taking care to keep the cables under the support itself. Position the four side screws (6) and the washers (6a) in the sequence indicated; then fit at the inside and fully tighten the two nuts (5) on both sides.

Slide the U-bolt (9) against the support (8) and secure it with the screw (7).

1.2 Closure of the milling cutter axles

Fit the two caps (1) on the two ends of the milling cutter axles.

NOTE - The use of Oil SAE 15W-40 is recommended for this machine.

1.3 Oil refilling

NOTE: The use of Oil SAE 15W-40 is recommended for this machine.

Drive

Lay the machine down on its right side.

Release the cotter pin (1), extract the pin (2) and remove the milling cutter group (2).

Unscrew the cap (3) and pour circa 250ml of oil of the same quality used for the engine in the hole.

Reassemble the cap (3) making sure to reposition the gasket (4) and restore the milling cutter group (2) with relative pin and cotter pin (1).

Top up engine oil following the instructions given in the relative manual.

1.4 Assembling the strut

Insert the strut (1) in its housing and fix it at the desired height using the cotter pin (2).

2. CONTROLS AND REGULATIONS

2.1 Milling cutter engagement lever

Milling cutter movement in contact with the ground moves the machine forward.

To engage the cutters, press the safety lever (2) and pull the engagement lever (1).

Release the lever (2), the milling cutters stop and the machine stops moving forward.

2.2 Regulating hoeing depth

How deep milling cutters go into the ground can be regulated using the strut (1) which can be positioned at 3 different heights.

The lowest position coincides with minimum hoeing depth.

To change strut height (1), remove the cotter pin (3) and the pin (2) and reposition it at the desired height.

2.3 Regulating the auxiliary wheel

The auxiliary wheel (1) can be positioned at two different heights:

• lowered, in contact with the ground, to facilitate movement;
• raised, while working, to allow the milling cutters to cut into the ground.

To shift from one position to another, grasp the wheel (1), pull it till the pin comes out (2) from its housing in the support (3) and reposition it at the desired height.

3. USING THE MACHINE

3.1 Starting the engine

Set the ignition switch to "ON" (1), then firmly pull the knob on the starter cable (1).

3.2 Hoeing and loosening the ground

To begin working:

• adjust the strut to the desired height;
• move the auxiliary wheel to the high position;
• press the handle bar slightly to raise the milling cutters from the ground;
• press the safety lever (1) and pull the milling cutter engagement lever (2).
• lower the cutters so they can penetrate the ground and move the machine forward.

Suggestions for a job well done

• Do not use the machine on wet ground as the clods could be difficult to break up.
• With hard and dry ground, the depth required should be reached through two crossed passages, not carried out too deeply.

3.3 When work is finished

When work is finished:

• release the engagement lever (1);
• turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position (2);
• move the auxiliary wheel to the lowered position.

Disconnect the spark plug cap (3) before storing the machine or doing any other jobs on it.

4. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

IMPORTANT - Routine and accurate maintenance is essential in maintaining original machine safety and performance levels.

Store the machine in a dry place.

1) Wear sturdy work gloves before cleaning, maintaining or adjusting the machine.
2) Accurately wash the machine with water after each use; remove debris and mud accumulated on the mil- ing cutters and under the guard to prevent it drying and making the next removal difficult.
3) Paint on the inner guard parts may come off over time due to the abrasive action of clods removed; if this happens, promptly touch-up paint with rust-proof paint to prevent rusting that could corrode the metal.
4) If accessing the lower part is necessary, only tilt the machine on the side indicated in the engine manual, following the relevant instructions.
5) Do not drip petrol onto the plastic parts of the engine or the machine to prevent damaging them and remove all traces of spilt petrol immediately. The warranty does not cover damage to plastic parts caused by petrol.

4.1 Milling cutter replacement

WARNING - The cutting parts of the milling cutter CANNOT be disassembled from their supporting plate. You must ALWAYS replace the entire plate complete with cutting parts. Using a milling cutter with one or more broken or missing cutters can be dangerous and bad for machine safety and reliability.

The milling cutters do not need their cutting edges sharpened.

To replace a milling cutter:

• lay the machine down on one side.
• remove the cap (1);
• release the cotter pin (2), extract the pin and remove the milling cutter group.
• reassemble the milling cutters (3) and restore the relative pin, cotter pin (2) and cap (1).

4.2 Adjusting transmission

If you have any problems when starting the milling cutter engagement lever, with engagement too violent or milling cutters that tend to slow down when penetrating the ground, the engagement cable needs adjustment.

This operation must be done by the Customer Service Centre nearest to you or by your Dealer.

5. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Environmental protection should be a priority of considerable importance when using the machine, for the benefit of both social coexistence and the environment in which we live.

• Try not to cause any disturbance to the surrounding area.
• Scrupulously comply with local regulations for the disposal of packaging, deteriorated parts or any elements with a strong environmental impact; this waste must not be disposed of as normal waste, it must be separated and taken to specified waste disposal centres where the material will be recycled.
• When decommissioning, do not pollute the environment with the machine, hand it over to a disposal centre, in accordance with the local regulations in force.
