Frequently Asked Questions - Beyond BESAFE

Can I install this seat on the front seat of the car?

No, the child seat MUST NOT be installed on a front seat with an active frontal airbag. If you must install it in the front (vehicle without airbag or airbag deactivated), ensure a minimum distance of 5 cm between the windshield and the top of the child's head or headrest.

How to use the SIP+ (side protection)?

The SIP+ attaches on the vehicle door side. Place it on the SIP+ attachment point of the seat and turn it clockwise until it clicks. Do not use it if the space between the seat and the door is too small or if the distance between the SIP+ and the window is less than 10 cm (in case of curtain airbag).

How to wash the seat cover?

Close all velcro and zippers before washing. Machine wash the cover at a maximum of 30°C, following the instructions on the integrated care label. Do not use harsh products. The headrest cover can be removed separately.

Up to what height or weight can my child use this seat?

The seat is approved rear-facing for children measuring 61 to 125 cm and weighing up to 22 kg (including clothing). You must stop using it as soon as any of these limits is reached, or if the shoulder height exceeds the highest harness slot, or if the top of the ears exceeds the headrest.

How to adjust the headrest and harness straps?

Pull the headrest release handle at the back to raise or lower it. To adjust the harness strap height, open the harness buckle and remove the straps. Place your child in the seat, then lower the headrest until it rests directly on the shoulders.

How to rotate the seat towards the door?

Push the recline and rotation handle located in the middle of the seat (leg area). You can rotate the seat up to about 110° from the rear-facing position. To lock it in the driving position, bring it back to rear-facing until it clicks.

What to do after a car accident?

Replace the product if the collision occurred at a speed greater than or equal to 10 km/h, or if you suspect damage. Even if the seat looks intact, it may no longer provide optimal protection in a subsequent accident.

How to remove the cover for cleaning?

Follow the instructions in reverse order of assembly. The headrest cover can be removed separately. Before washing, close all velcro and zippers. For more details, visit www.besafe.com.

How to tighten the harness correctly?

Place the child well back in the seat, back against the seat back. Pull the central adjustment strap forward until no horizontal fold can be pinched on the shoulder straps. The straps should be snug without being twisted.

What is the warranty on this car seat?

The seat is guaranteed for 24 months against material or manufacturing defects, except for the cover and harness straps. Keep your receipt and contact your retailer. The warranty does not cover damage due to incorrect use.

We're so excited to accompany you and your little one on your travels and keep them safe!

In this manual we'll explain to you all there is to know about your seat.

It is important that you read this user manual BEFORE installing your seat. Incorrect installation could endanger your child.

Vital information

Installation & usage

• The child seat MUST NOT be installed in a front seat WITH AN ACTIVATED FRONTAL AIRBAG.
• When using in Spain: Article 117 of the General Regulation of Traffic in Spain prohibits driving with children of stature

height equal to or less than 135 centimeters located in the front seats of the vehicle, unless the vehicle does not have rear seats, all rear seats are already occupied by children below 135 cm or if it is not possible the install the child seat in the rear seat.

• This seat can only be installed on the BeSafe Beyond Base
• This seat is approved rear facing for children with a stature height from 61 to 125 cm with a maximum weight up to 22 kg.
• When driving with a child sitting in the seat, the seat must always be locked in the driving position. Never drive with the seat rotated to the side when a child is sitting in the seat.
• The harness straps must always be locked when the child is in the seat.
• The harness straps must be tightened without slack and not twisted.
• Make sure to tighten the harness extremely well, so that you can no longer make a horizontal fold in the belts. When you tighten the harness, make sure that the child is positioned well against the backrest.
• The shoulder pads and crotch strap pad contain magnets. Magnets can influence electronic equipment such as pacemakers or other medical devices.
• Especially for older children, check on your child regularly to avoid that they manipulate or mishandle the product in abnormal ways. Explain to your child why this is important.
• Protect any part of the child's body which is exposed to the sun.
  • Always dress your child in a thin layer of clothes to avoid direct contact between harness belts and skin. Avoid puffy clothes since this prevents

being able to tighten the belts fully.

• We recommend that this seat is used only for children who can sit upright, usually not younger than 6 months.
- You must stop using this seat and change to the next suitable seat when ONE of these conditions is met: 1) The child is taller than 125 cm; 2) The child incl. clothes weighs more than 22 kg; 3) The shoulder height exceeds the highest position of the shoulder belts; 4) The top of the ears is above the highest point of the headrest in the highest position.
- Never leave your child unattended in the seat.
- Make sure all passengers are informed about how to release your child in case of emergency.

Handling & maintenance

• Replace the product if it has been in a collision where the speed was 10 km/h and above or if there is a suspicion that the seat has been damaged for whatever reason. Although it may look undamaged, if you were to have another accident, the seat may not be able to protect your child to the level to which it was designed.
• Prevent the product from becoming trapped or weighed down by luggage, seats and/or slamming doors.
• Make sure luggage or other objects are properly secured. Unsecured luggage may cause severe injuries to children and adults in case of accidents.
• DO NOT attempt to dismantle, modify or add any part to the product. Warranty will be void if non-original parts or accessories are used.
• Never use the seat without the cover. The cover is a safety feature and may only be replaced by an original BeSafe cover.
• Do not use any aggressive cleaning products; these may harm the construction material of the product.
• When washing the seat cover, make sure to follow the wash label on the inside of the cover.
• BeSafe advises that child seats should not be bought or sold second-hand.
• DO NOT use the product for longer than 15 years. Due to ageing, the quality of the material may change.
• DO NOT use at home. It has not been designed for home use and can only be used in a vehicle.
• When the product is mounted in the car, check all the areas where the child seat might touch the interior. We recommend using a (BeSafe)

protection cover in these places to avoid cuts, marks or discolouration to the interior of the vehicle, especially in vehicles with leather or wooden interiors.

Attaching the SIP+

1. The seat is delivered with removable SIP+ (side impact protection+). This extra side impact protection should be used on the door side of the vehicle. It can be connected by placing it onto the SIP+ attachment point and then rotating it clockwise until you feel it click into place. The seat already offers high level integrated side impact protection. This extra side impact protection improves the protection in the side impact even further. (1, 2, 3, 4)
2. Do not use the SIP+ on the seat when the space between seat and door of the vehicle is too small, which might lead to a situation where the seat is not positioned correctly on the vehicle seat.
3. In case the SIP+ sits at the height of the door window and your car is equipped with side curtain airbags, then do not use the SIP+ if there is less than 10 cm distance between the SIP+ and the window.

Installing the seat onto the Beyond Base

1. Check if the ISOfix and floor support indicators on the base are green.
2. You find the detailed explanation how to install the base into the car in the base's user manual.
3. If you want to install the seat rotated towards you onto the base, you can turn the rotation disc, so that the child on the sticker is facing towards you. (1, 2)
4. Position the seat in the correct position on the base until it clicks with the base and the seat connection indicator at the front shows green. (3, 4, 5)
5. To help you find the position, you can use the yellow markings on the bottom of the seat and on the base disc. Align the yellow markings with each other. (6)
6. Rotate the seat on the base until it locks into driving position.
7. When having the child seat installed rear facing in the back, it is recommended to position the front vehicle seat in a way that it is close to touch the child seat. Make sure that the child seat can still rotate freely.

Removing the seat from the base

- The seat can be taken off by pulling the seat release handle at the front of the base. (1, 2)

Rotating the seat

1. To make getting your child in and out of the seat easier, you can rotate the seat towards the door.
2. To rotate the seat, push the recline & rotation handle in the middle of the seat. You can rotate the seat in any recline position. (3)
3. To bring the seat back into driving position, rotate it into rear facing position until you hear a click and the seat is locked. (4, 5)
4. The seat can maximum rotate approx. 110^ away from the rear facing position, then it is blocked.

Placing the child into the seat

1. While pressing the button of the central adjuster, pull the shoulder belts away from the seat with a flat hand. Make sure to pull the belts evenly so that they stay at the same length. Do not pull on the shoulder pads, as they are fixed and cannot move. (1)

2. Open the harness buckle. (2)

3. To keep the shoulder straps out of the way, place the shoulder pads onto the magnets on each side of the seat shell. (3)

4. To keep the crotch strap out of the way, fold the crotch strap forwards till it meets the magnet to hold it in place.

5. Place your child into the seat and adjust the position of the shoulder belts and headrest if needed - see section "Adjusting to the growing child".

6. Place the shoulder belts over the child's shoulders and close the buckle: CLICK! (4)

1. Pull the central adjuster strap straight away from the seat to tighten the harness. Make sure to tighten the harness extremely well, so that you can no longer make a horizontal fold in the belts. When you tighten the harness, make sure that the child is positioned well against the backrest. (1, 2, 3)

Changing the recline angle

1. The recline angle can be adjusted to how it is comfortable for your child. To do so, access the recline & rotation handle in the middle of the leg area. (1, 2)
2. Take care not to rotate the seat if you only want to adjust the recline angle.
3. For children over 105 cm and when using the base with the most extended front brace position, the seat has to be in the most upright position. (3)

Adjusting the seat to the growing child

Shoulder belt/headrest height

1. The height of the shoulder belts and the headrest can be adjusted by pulling the headrest handle upwards at the back of the headrest and moving the headrest up or down. To be able to do so, the harness buckle has to be opened and the straps have to be pulled out. (1)

2. To find the right height for your child, move the headrest all the way up, place your child into the seat, and then move the headrest downwards until it sits directly on your child's shoulders. (2)

3. Important for use on the front seat: you should always have a minimum distance of 5 cm between the car's front shield and the top of the child's head or headrest, whichever is higher. If your car does not enable this for the highest headrest positions, you need to move the seat to the back seat instead.

Leg space

- You can decide with how much leg space you want to install the seat by adjusting the base's front brace position. This needs to be done before installing the base. See user manual of the base. (3)

Ergo Cushion™ (lumbar spine support) [not on all models]

- If your seat is delivered with 2 Ergo Cushions™ inside storage pockets, you must remove those cushions from their storage pockets for children taller than 105 cm.

- You can use those cushions to insert into pockets in the backrest, offering your child added comfort by creating a support for the lumbar part of the spine. This is recommended for children from approx. 4 years on.

- To remove the cushions from the storage pockets: open the 2 zippers in the back of the main cover and take out the cushions from the left and right side panel of the fabric cover. (1, 2)

- To use the cushions for lumbar spine support: place one cushion into each pocket (upper and lower) that you find on the backside of the fabric cover's back panel. The pocket openings are marked by coloured stitching. (3)

- Close both zippers again.

- With your child in the seat, we recommend to check with your hand if the curve in their lumbar spine is filled/supported by the now cushioned dome.

- If you want/need to make further adjustments, you can vary the placement of the cushions: e.g. using only one cushion, or placing both cushions into the same pocket (upper or lower). (4)

Removing and refitting the cover

• Please take care when you remove the cover, as re-fitting the cover is done in reverse
• The cover of the headrest can be taken off separately.

• Before washing make sure to close all velcro and zippers.
• When washing the seat cover, make sure to follow the wash label on the inside of the cover.

! Warning: potential misuse

• The child seat MUST NOT be installed in a front passenger seat WITH AN ACTIVATED AIRBAG.
• The floor support must always be used. Make sure that the floor support is fully pushed down and that the seat is positioned horizontal with the spirit level in the green area.

- Never drive with a child in the seat if the seat is rotated to the side.

- Make sure all indicators are green before you drive.

Guarantee

• Should this product prove faulty within 24 months of purchase due to materials or manufacturing fault, except covers and harness straps, please return it to the original place of purchase.
• The guarantee is only valid when you use your seat appropriately and with care. Please contact your retailer, they will decide if the seat will be returned to the manufacturer for repair. Replacement or return cannot be claimed. The guarantee is not extended through repair.
• The guarantee expires: when there is no receipt, when defects are caused by incorrect and improper use, when defects are caused by abuse, misuse or negligence.

Disassembly & disposal of the product

• This product can be dissassembled into different materials for waste handling: please visit www.besafe.com for detailed instructions.
• Please hand in the product at a designated collection point for handling non-general household waste.

Disposal of the packaging

- The packaging of this product contains several components like cardboard, please separate these materials and hand them in the designated collection points in your area.

Postavljanje deteta u auto sedište

1. Pritiskom dugmeta centralnog regulatora, ispruženom rukom povucite pojaseve od auto sedišta. Pojaseve povlačite ravnomjerno kako bi ostali jednako dugački. Nemojte vući jastučiće za ramena jer su fiksni i ne mogu se pomicati. (1)

2. Otvorite kopču sigurnosnih pojaseva. (2)

3. Da vam trake za ramena ne bi smetale, postavite jastučiće za ramena na magnete sa svake strane školjke auto sedišta. (3)

4. Da biste držali kaiš za međunožje po strani, preklopite ga napred dok se ne spoji s magnetom koji će da ga drži na mestu.

5. Stavite dete u auto sedište i po potrebi podesite položaj pojaseva i naslona za glavu - pogledajte odeljak „Prilagođavanje detetu kroz rast“.

6. Stavite naramenice preko detetovih ramena i zatvorite kopču: KLIK! (4)

1. Povucite traku centralnog regulatora ravno sa auto sedišta da biste stegli pojaseve. Obavezno dobro zategnite pojas kako više ne biste mogli horizontalno savijati pojaseve (tako da ne možete napraviti preklop na pojasevima). Promena ugla nagiba

- Ako želite/trebate napraviti dodatna podešavanja, možete menjati položaj jastuka: npr. koristiti samo jedan jastuk ili staviti oba jastuka u isti džep (gornji ili donji). (4)

Uklanjanje i ponovno postavljanje presvlake

• Obratite pažnju prilikom uklanjanja presvlake jer se postavljanje presvlake vrši obrnutim redosledom.
• Presvlaka naslona za glavu može se ukloniti zasebno.

• Pre pranja obavezno zatvorite sve čičak trake i rajsferšluse.
• Kada perete presvlake sedišta, pratite oznaku za pranje sa unutrašnje strane navlake.

Garancija

• Ako se ovaj proizvod pokaže manjkavim unutar 24 meseca od datuma kupovine zbog greške u materijalu ili proizvodnji, čime nisu obuhvaćene presvlake i bezbednosni pojasevi, vratite ga na mesto gde ste ga kupili.
