Dear customer, Please read these instructions carefully before installing and commissioning your garage door drive The installation should be carried out by a suitable trained technician Faulty installation or self-executed repairs may result in injuries, death and material damage during installation Follow all instructions for your own safety and keep this instruction manual Inform any user of any potentially hazards which arise in conjunction with this ga- rage door drive In the event of a change of ownership, pass these instructions on to the new owner This manual is the original operating instructions (or translation of the original operating instructions for foreign-language manuals) within the meaning of EC Directive 2006/42/EC. For safe operation and maintenance of the door system, the fol- lowing documents must be readily available: These operating instructions The operating instructions for the garage door Test book
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The garage door drive and packaging are not toys. Keep them away from children. There is a risk of injury and asphyxiation. The garage door drive may not be opened or altered The garage door drive is maintenance-free and requires no special care Check the garage door drive for any damage and check that all accessories are included prior to installation Check that the door system runs smoothly and check for icing in winter at regular intervals If you have technical queries relating to your garage door drive, please contact our customer service The garage door drive must not be used or assembled by children and persons who are not in a position to use the product safely and with caution due to physical, mental or sensory impairments Children may not play with the garage door drive The garage door drive can be used by children of 8 years and above, as well as by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capacities, or those lacking in knowledge and experience, if they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the product and understand the hazards involved Cleaning and user maintenance on the product must not be performed by children without adult supervision PROPER USE Only use the garage door drive for the purpose for which it was built and designed! Any other use is considered to be improper use! The garage door drive is provided exclusively for pulsed operation of sectional and overhead doors with spring compensation The garage door drive is suitable exclusively for private/non-commercial use The garage door drive is suitable exclusively for use in dry environments Door systems which only have one safety device (e.g. force reversal system), may only be operated when visible to the operator. The garage door drive may not be used with doors that do not have an anti-fall device The garage door drive may not be used non-stop Damage resulting from failure to adhere to these safety instructions shall invalidate the warranty We accept no liability for resulting damages!
QUALIFICATION OF THE INSTALLER
The installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair may only be carried out a by competent person/company and in accordance with this instruction manual The garage door drive was designed and manufactured in accordance with local regulations The installer must be familiar with the local provisions in relation to the installation of the garage door drive Unqualied people or personnel who do not know the occupational safety standards for automatic doors and gates may under no circumstances carry out installation work or intervene in the garage door drive People who disregard the applicable safety standard for installation and maintenance are liable for damage, injuries, costs, expenses or claims arising from this disregard for the safety standards13
BEFORE INSTALLATION The garage door drive is not designed for operation of sti doors. Check that the door can be opened and closed easily by hand Check that the compensation springs have been set correctly by lifting the door approx one metre and then letting it go The door may not move upwards or downwards from this position The compensation springs on the garage door may only be readjusted by a competent person The garage ceiling must be suitable for installation of the garage door drive Check whether additional fastening components are required
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION
During installation work, all applicable provisions for occupational safety and all applicable provisions for operating electrical devices must be followed The required national guidelines must also be observed Follow the instructions and information in this installation manual If you are ever unsure during installation, contact our customer service (see back page). Potential hazards within the meaning of DIN EN 13241-1 can be eliminated by installing the product as per this instruction manual Electrical connection work may only be carried out by a trained electrician The garage door should be balanced. Immovable or sti doors must be repaired. When unbalanced, garage doors, door springs, cables, pulleys, supports and rails are placed under extreme stress, which can result in serious injuries Try not to detach, move or realign the door Seek out a suitable trained technician For garages without additional access, an emergency release for the rotary handle (item no. 60553) or an emergency release lock (item no. 60511) is required. These devices prevent you from being locked out of the garage in the event of a defect or power cut Before tting the garage door drive, remove any existing locks and locking devices as per the assembly instructions for the garage door in order to ensure unencumbered use of the garage door drive Install all optional operating elements (e.g. key switch (item no. 25101, 25102) or wall button (item no. 60060)) at a height of at least 1.5 m and within sight of the garage door, but away from moving parts and out of the reach of children Ax the anti-pinching warning labels in a clearly visible location or near the switch. Ax the manual release sticker near the garage door drive. Before commissioning your garage door drive, ensure that there are no obstacles in the travel path of the door. Read the instructions carefully During installation, adhere to the minimum distances shown in the gures. Drilling dust, dirt or shavings must not enter the garage door drive head or rail system Cover these components carefully during installation work
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMMISSIONING
Check your power connection The values must match the values given in this operating manual This information is also found on the nameplate of the garage door drive The power connection in the garage must comply with local provisions Check the safety functions of the garage door drive as follows: Place an object (e.g. a piece of wood) measuring approx. 50 mm in height under the main closing edge of the garage door Allow the door to lower When the door comes into contact with the obstacle, the garage door drive must reverse and give way to the object For extra safety, use an optional light barrier (item no. 60030) and check the automatic safety reversing function at regular intervals After the test run, the safety device (obstacle detection system with force reversal, light barrier) must be checked. The commissioning of the end product or combination by Alfred Schellenberg GmbH is prohibited until con- formity of the end product or combination of garage door drive and garage door has been proven based on the applicable standards, specications and/or guidelines. In case of doubt, a specialist installation company should be engaged (see enclosed declaration of conformity).14
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION
A faulty obstacle safety system can result in material damage, serious injuries or even death Ensure that the garage door is fully open and is in the rest position before driving or walking into or out of the garage Ensure that the garage door is fully closed after leaving the garage When using the emergency release, be aware that the open garage door can suddenly drop due to weak or broken springs Do not allow children to play with the garage door drive, including handheld transmitters. Keep the handheld transmitters out of the reach of children Watch the moving door No one may stop in the hazard zone of the garage door until the door is fully open or closed Only use the garage door drive when it is within your sight if it has only one safety device Never stand under the open door Never reach into the guide rail when the door is moving Never apply mains voltage (230 V/50 Hz) across the connection terminals of the garage door drive. Storing the handheld transmitter in your trouser pocket or handbag may lead to unintentional false triggering of the handheld transmitter and thus undesired movement of the door SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION IN A SMART HOME SYSTEM Please run the garagedoor system only in sight Before operation in a smart home system, please install a light barrier! Before operation please make sure that no person or object is located in the driveway. When using automated processes through a smart home system, always ensure that no one is standing in the gate‘s path and install a second safety device (e.g. a light barrier art. no.: 60030) SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND CLEANING During cleaning, maintenance and replacement of parts, the garage door drive must be disconnected from the mains Test the system regularly Cables, springs and supports in particular should be checked for signs of wear, damage or imbal- ance Do not use the garage door drive if a repair or change of settings is required Children may not clean or repair the garage door drive without supervision Any required adjustment may only be carried out by a competent person Check the function of the emergency release on a monthly basis If there is a defect, a competent person must immediately be called in for the testing/repair If there is a defect in the mains connection line, it must be replaced by a trained electrician
BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION
Pay attention to the pole markings plus (+) and minus (-) and make sure that you insert the batteries correctly into the product. Only use batteries that are suitable for the respective product Used batteries must be sent for recycling in accordance with the local disposal regulations. Mask the plus (+) pole. WARNING! Keep batteries out of reach of children and pets. Swallowing a battery could have life-threatening consequences See a doctor immediately if needed, even you only suspect a battery may have been swallowed Never charge batteries Batteries must not be deformed, damaged, disassembled, opened or short-circuited. Batteries must not be exposed to heat, re or any type of liquid. Should a battery be leaking, make sure that the liquid does not come into contact with your skin or eyes In the event of contact with the liquid, rinse the aected area with water and see a doctor.15
WARRANTY CONDITIONS We guarantee that our products are free from material and manufacturing errors The following is excluded from the warranty Damage caused by: normal, use-induced wear improper installation, connection, operation or treatment acts of nature beyond human control or other external inuences improper maintenance and repair by third parties technical alterations by third parties In the event of a warranty claim, we will carry out repairs at our discretion or replace the product with an equivalent SCHEL- LENBERG product. The warranty period is not extended on account of replacement or repair of the device! You must pres- ent proof of purchase in order to invoke the warranty When returning the device, please enclose a copy of the receipt and a description of the deciency encountered. Your Schellenberg product comes with a 3 year warranty, starting from the date of purchase. This manufacturer’s warranty does not aect your statutory rights under current legislation, including special safeguards for consumers. The warranty neither waives nor limits your statutory warranty rights
