Thank you for choosing aHama product. Take your time and read the following instructions and information completely.Please keep these instructions in asafe place for futurereference. If you sell the device, please pass these operating instructions on to the new owner.
1. Explanation of Warning Symbols and Notes
Warning This symbol is used to indicate safety instructions or to draw your attention to specichazards and risks. Note This is used to indicate additional information or important notes.

- The product is intended for private, non-commercial use only.
- Do not use the product in the immediate vicinity of heaters or other heat sources or in direct sunlight.
- Keep this product, as all electrical products, out of the reach of children!
- Do not drop the product and do not expose it to any major shocks.
- Do not operate the product outside the power limits given in the specications.
- Do not use the product in areas wherethe use of electronic devices is not permitted.
- Be considerate. Loud volumes can have adetrimental effect on your surroundings.
- Do not open the device or continue to operate it if it becomes damaged.
- Since the battery is integrated and cannot be removed, you will need to dispose of the product as awhole. Do this in compliance with the legal requirements.
- Keep the packaging material out of the reach of children due to the risk of suffocation.
- Dispose of packaging material immediately according to locally applicable regulations.
- Do not modify the product in any way.Doing so voids the warranty.
4. Getting Started and Operation
- This product is splash proof on all sides as dened in IPX5, meaning that it is ideal for use outdoors or in bathrooms, kitchens, etc.
- This protection only works when the connection cover (2) is closed. If acable (audio, USB) is connected or the connection cover (2) is not closed properly,splash protection cannot be guaranteed and the device could be damaged.
- Do not use the product in heavy rain, under water, in the shower or for water sports, etc.
4.1 Switching the product on and off
- Press and hold the function button (1) for about 2 seconds to switch the speaker on or off.
- An acoustic signal sounds and the status LED (1) starts ashing.3 Note –Automatic shutdown Note that the speaker wil lautomatically switch off after 10 minutes without action (no audio playback/no Bluetooth
4.2 Charging the battery
Warning –Rechargeable battery
- Only use suitable charging devices with USB connections for char ging.
- As arule, do not use charging devices or USB connections that aredefective and do not try to repair them yourself.
- Avoid storing, charging or using batteries in extreme temperatures.
- When stored for along period of time, batteries should be charged regularly (at least every three months).
- Charge the speaker fully beforeusing it for the rst time.
- Connect the included Micro-USB charging cable to the speaker’sMicro-USB port (3).
- Connect the unused connector on the Micro-USB charging cable to asuitable USB charger.Please refer to the operating instructions for the USB charger used.
- The status LED (3) lights up constantly in redduring the charging process.
- If the battery is fully charged, the status LED (3) will go out. Note –Charging
- It takes approx. 4hours to completely charge the product.
- The speaker’sbattery can be charged whether the speaker is on or off.
- If the battery capacity is less than 10%, the speaker will emit two acoustic signals. Youwill only receive this information if the speaker is on.
- The actual battery life varies depending on use of the device, the settings and the ambient conditions (rechargeable batteries have alimited service life).
- Check whether your mobile device (MP3 player, mobile phone, etc.) is Bluetooth

- If your terminal device requests apasswordfor connection to the speaker,enter 0000. Note –Connection to anew device
- If you want to connect anew Bluetooth
terminal device to the speaker,press the Bluetooth
function button (8) until the status LED (8) begins to ash blue and an acoustic signal sounds..
- The current connection is disconnected and the search for new terminal devices starts.
- The speaker always stores the last eight terminal devices paired.
- The speaker willautomatically connect to the last terminal device paired when it is switched on the next time.4

- After successful connection, the status LED (8) will light up in blue. An acoustic signal conrms that connection was successful. Note –Connection impaired
- After the speaker and terminal device have been paired, aconnection is established automatically. If the Bluetooth
connection is not established automatically,check the following:
settings of your terminal device to see whether Hama Gentleman-M is connected. If not, repeat the steps listed under Bluetooth
- Check whether your terminal device and the speaker areless than 10 metres apart. If not, move them closer together.
- Check whether obstacles areimpairing the range. If so, move the devices closer together.
4.5 Audio playback (via
Start and control audio playback on the connected terminal device accordingly.Alternatively,audio playback can also be controlled on the speaker (if the connected device supports this function).
- Press the ► function button (5) to start or pause audio playback.
- Brieypress the +function button (6) to skip to the next track.
- Brieypress the –function button (4) to go back to the previous track.
4.6 MP3 audio playback (via microSD card media
player connection) The speaker can also play MP3 audio les from microSD cardstorage media.
- Insert amicroSD cardinto the microSD cardslot under the cover (2). The speaker automatically switches to media player mode.
- Press the ►function button (5) to start or pause audio playback.
- If you want to remove the microSD card, pause playback rst; then take out the microSD card.
4.7 Hands-free function
Youcan use the speaker as ahands-free set for your mobile phone. Forthis function, the mobile phone must be connected to the speaker via Bluetooth
- Press and hold the function button (7) for approx. 2 seconds to reject an incoming call.
- Youcan put acallonhold by pressing and holding the function button (7) for approx. 2seconds.
- Press and hold the function button (7) again to continue the call.
- During acall, press the function button (7) once to end the call. Note –Call quality To increase the callquality,make surethat you are near the speaker with your mobile phone during the call.
5. Operation –NFC connection
- To be able to connect your terminal device to the speaker using NFC, your terminal device must be compatible with NFC technology.For moreinformation, please refer to the operating instructions of your terminal device.
- Note that the presence of mobile phone cases, covers or other materials between the speaker and the back of your terminal device can interferewith connection or even prevent it.
- Note that NFC has ashort transmission range of about 10 cm.5
- Switch on the speaker as described in
the product on and off
- Make surethat the NFC function on your terminal device is turned on and the terminal device is not in lock mode (lock screen).
- Hold your terminal device in front of the NFC connection area (9), marked by the NFC symbol on the speaker’sdevice label.
- Place the connected terminal device next to the speaker.
6. Care and Maintenance
- Only clean this product with aslightly damp, lint-free cloth and do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
