You have two options to connect your GARDENA 6030 gateway to your router:

Option 1: Wired LAN connection (recommended)

  1. Plug the power adapter into a power outlet and connect the power cable to socket ④ of the gateway
  2. Connect the gateway to your router using the provided LAN cable
  3. Allow the firmware to update automatically (up to 15 minutes)
  4. Check that both LEDs (Power and Internet) show a steady green - the connection is successful
  5. Download the GARDENA smart system app from the App Store or Google Play
  6. Follow the setup instructions in the app

Option 2: Wi-Fi connection

For iPhone/iPad:

  1. Wait for the Internet LED to show a steady yellow (configuration network activated)
  2. Open the Apple Home app
  3. Select "Add Accessory"
  4. Scan the HomeKit label located under the gateway
  5. Wait for the Internet LED to turn steady green (updating may take up to 15 minutes)

Le message « Overload » affiché sur votre Gateway GARDENA 6030 est un système de protection : il signifie que vous avez tenté de commander trop de vannes ou d'équipements simultanément, ce qui a déclenché une alerte de surcharge. C'est normal et sans danger pour l'appareil.

Pour résoudre le problème :

  • Attendez quelques minutes que le système se réinitialise automatiquement
  • Une fois le message « Overload » disparu, ouvrez les vannes progressivement, une ou deux à la fois, plutôt que toutes ensemble
  • Vérifiez dans l'application GARDENA smart system que vous ne lancez pas plusieurs programmations en même temps

Starting the GARDENA 6030 Programmer

To start your programmer and check that it is working correctly, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the power supply provided in the box to a standard power outlet.
  2. Plug in the LAN cable to the socket of the Gateway (or set up the WLAN connection via the GARDENA smart system app).
  3. Check the startup: wait a few seconds after connecting. The Gateway performs a software update that may take up to 15 minutes. You will see the Internet LED turn yellow during this phase (automatic configuration mode).

To turn off the device: unplug the power supply from the power outlet. This is the standard method to turn off the programmer.

Once the Gateway is started and connected to the Internet, you can configure the 6 watering programs (duration from 1 to 120 minutes, frequency from 1 to 7 days) via the GARDENA smart system app.

To commission the smart Gateways

An Internet connection is required for installation of the Gateway. The Gateway can be connected to the Internet via ethernet or Wi-Fi.

  1. Connect the power supply unit to a mains socket.
  2. Connect the power supply cable to the plug socket ④ of the Gateway.
  3. Select one of the following options: To connect via ethernet cable / To connect to a Wi-Fi network

  1. Connect the Gateway with the provided network cable to your router. The software for your Gateway is now being updated. This process can take up to 15 minutes (depending on your Internet connection). Once the Internet-LED and the Power LED illuminate green permanently, the Gateway is up to date. It can now be included in the App.
  2. Download the GARDENA smart system app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
  3. Follow the instructions in the App.

To connect to a Wi-Fi network

If the Gateway is neither connected to the router via a LAN cable nor integrated into another Wi-Fi network, the Gateway automatically provides a configuration network after approx. 1 to 2 minutes after startup.

The configuration network is activated as long as the Internet LED permanently illuminates yellow.

The configuration network remains active for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes have elapsed (or if the Gateway was previously configured to another Wi-Fi network that is no longer available), the configuration network can be reactivated by briefly pushing the reset button ⑦.

To configure the Wi-Fi network with an iOS device (iPhone, iPad)

Wait until the Internet LED illuminates yellow permanently (the configuration network is activated).

  1. Open the Apple Home App (this is located by default on your mobile iOS device).
  2. Select "Add accessory".
  3. Scan the HomeKit label on the bottom side of the Gateway.
  4. Wait until the Internet LED illuminates green permanently.

The software for your Gateway is now being updated. This process can take up to 15 minutes (depending on your Internet connection). Once the Internet LED and the Power LED illuminate green permanently, your Gateway is up to date. It can now be included in the App.

  1. Download the GARDENA smart system app from the Apple App Store.
  2. Follow the instructions in the App.

To configure the Wi-Fi network with another device

Wait until the Internet LED illuminates yellow permanently (the configuration network is activated).

To establish a connection via Wi-Fi, you need your Gateway ID. The Gateway ID can be read on the sticker on the underside of the Gateway. You will also need the password for your Wi-Fi network.

  1. Connect to the GARDENA configuration network. To do this, go to the Wi-Fi settings on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. The Gateway should now be displayed there as an available Wi-Fi network. The network name starts with "GARDENA_config".
  2. Open the URL:

You should now see the Gateway Interface.

  1. Login using the first eight digits of your Gateway ID as the password (see graphic).

Note: Because the GARDENA configuration network does not have its own Internet access, your device may automatically leave the GARDENA configuration network or may display an error message. Also, make sure JavaScript is activated and browser cookies are accepted, in order to display the page correctly. Connecting the Gateway is not supported by Internet Explorer.

Wait until the indicator that signals internet connectivity starts to glow steadily yellow (which means that the configuration network is activated).
