How to charge the Ferm CDM1124 screwdriver?

Plug the small connector of the charger into the charging port of the screwdriver, then plug the charger into a mains socket. The LED indicator turns red during charging and red+green once charging is complete. The charging time is 3 to 5 hours.

How to change the direction of rotation?

Use the direction selector switch located above the trigger. Set it to ◀ for screwing or → for unscrewing. The center position locks the trigger.

How to insert a screwdriver bit?

The bit holder accepts 1/4 inch hex shank bits. Simply insert the bit into the bit holder; it is held by a magnet. To remove it, pull it out.

What does the LED indicator on the screwdriver mean?

The charge indicator is located near the charging port. Red: battery charging. Red+Green: charging complete, battery full.

How to use the spindle lock?

The screwdriver is equipped with an automatic spindle lock. When the on/off switch is not pressed, the bit holder is locked, allowing the screwdriver to be used as a manual screwdriver, even if the battery is empty.

What is the overload protection?

The screwdriver has electronic overload protection. In case of overload, it stops automatically. Wait at least 5 seconds for the protection to reset before using the tool again.

Is the screwdriver suitable for heavy-duty use?

This cordless screwdriver is designed for occasional screwdriving tasks. For heavy-duty use, we recommend a more powerful drill driver.

How to clean the screwdriver?

Before cleaning, switch off and disconnect the battery. Clean the housing with a soft cloth, slightly damp if necessary. Do not use harsh chemicals like petrol or alcohol.

What accessories are supplied with the screwdriver?

Can I use the screwdriver in the rain?

Additional safety warnings for drills and screw drivers

a) Wear ear protectors when impact drilling. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
b) Use auxiliary handle(s), if supplied with the tool. Loss of control can cause personal injury.
c) Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock."

Battery tool use and care

a) Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
b) Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.

c) When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Vibration level

The vibration emission level stated in this instruction manual has been measured in accordance with a standardized test given in EN60745; it may be used to compare one tool with another and as a preliminary assessment of exposure to vibration when using the tool for the applications mentioned.

3. OPERATING

The machine must be charged before first use.

Charging the machine

• Plug the small cable plug (8A) into the machine's charging socket (2).
• Plug the charger into an electrical outlet and wait for a while. The LED indicator on the machine (3) will lighten up and show the charging status.

Fitting and removing drills or screwdriver bits Fig. B

The machine bit holder (4) is suitable for drills and screwdriver bits with a standard 14 inch. hexagonal shaft. To fit a screwdriver bit:

• Insert the screw driver bit (10) into the machine's bit holder (4), it will be hold by a magnet.
• The screw driver bit can be removed by pulling it out of the bit holder again.

Adjusting the direction of rotation

• Set the direction switch (5) to position ‘←’ in order to drive screws or to use it for drilling.
• Set the direction switch (5) to position ‘→’ in order to remove screws.

Switching the machine on and off

• Pressing the on/off switch (6) will activate the machine.
• Releasing the on/off switch (6) will stop the machine.
• Move the direction switch (5) to the middle position to lock the movement of the on/off switch. It cannot be activated in this position.

The machine is equipped with electronic overload protection function. When the machine gets overloaded it will shut down automatically. When this happens, please wait for at least 5 seconds to let the overload protection reset itself.

The machine is fitted with an automatic spindle lock feature. When the on/off switch (6) is not pressed, the bit holder (4) rotation is locked. Now it is possible to use the screwdriver (even when the battery is empty) as a manual tool.

4. MAINTENANCE

Before cleaning and maintenance, always switch off the machine and remove the battery pack from the machine.

Clean the machine casings regularly with a soft cloth, preferably after each use. Make sure that the ventilation openings are free of dust and dirt. Remove very persistent dirt using a soft cloth moistened with soapsuds. Do not use any solvents such as gasoline, alcohol, ammonia, etc. Chemicals such as these will damage the synthetic components.

The warranty conditions can be found on the separately enclosed warranty card.

ENVIRONMENT

Faulty and/or discarded electrical or electronic apparatus have to be collected at the appropriate recycling locations.

Do not dispose of power tools into domestic waste. According to the European Guideline 2012/19/EC for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment and its implementation into national right, power tools that are no longer usable must be collected separately and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
