How to vacuum liquids with the Nilfisk Multi 30?

Before vacuuming liquids, always remove the filter bag and insert the filter for wet use. Check that the float works correctly. If foam or liquid comes out, stop immediately and empty the tank.

How to clean the vacuum filter?

Unplug the device, turn the disc counterclockwise, remove the filter. Clean it with compressed air (keeping an adequate distance) or rinse with water. Dry it before reassembling and tighten clockwise.

What to do if suction power decreases?

Use the Filter cleaning function: set the speed to max, close the hose opening with the palm, then push the filter cleaning button (mark B) vigorously 3 times. This generates an airflow that cleans the filter.

How to use the blowing function?

Use the blowing function only with the cleaning hose. Do not blow air into an open space, as dust can be harmful.

Can I vacuum hot ashes or hazardous substances?

No. Never vacuum hot waste (cigarettes, ashes), flammable, explosive or aggressive liquids (gasoline, solvents, acids), nor dangerous or explosive dusts (magnesium, aluminum). This can cause serious injuries.

How to rewind the power cable?

Unplug the device, clean the cable with a damp cloth, then press the rewind button (mark C). Caution: hold the plug during the final phase to prevent it from swinging.

What does the I-0-II switch mean?

Position I: on. Position 0: off. Position II: automatic operation with power tool plugged into the vacuum socket – the vacuum turns on and off with the tool.

How to replace the filter bag?

Unplug the device. Carefully remove the filter bag from the tank, close the slider at the top of the bag and dispose of it. Insert a new bag by gently pushing it onto the intake connection. Nilfisk recommends a filter bag for fine dust.

What accessories are included with the Multi 30?

The vacuum is supplied with a suction hose, cleaning nozzles, a connector for the blowing function, and storage compartments on the device for the hose, cable, and accessories.

What to do if foam or liquid comes out of the vacuum?

Stop the device immediately and empty the dirt tank. Check the float and filter. Make sure to use the correct filter for wet vacuuming.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new Nilfi sk vacuum cleaner.

Prior to using the appliance for the first time, be sure to read this document through and keep it ready to hand.

Purpose and intended use

The vacuum cleaner is suitable for private use, e.g. for household, hobby workshops, car cleaning - sucking up non-hazardous dust and non-flammable liquids.

Symbols used to mark instructions

Important warnings

WARNING

• No changes to the mechanical, electrical or thermal safety devices must be made.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  Children shall be supervised to make sure that they do not play with the appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
• Never spray water on the upper section of the vacuum cleaner. Danger for persons, risk or short-circuiting.
• Never use the vacuum cleaner if the filter is damaged.
  The vacuum cleaner features a blow function. Do not blow the air out in the open space. Only use the blow function with a clean tube. Dust may be harmful to health.

Hazardous materials

WARNING

Vacuuming up hazardous materials can lead to serious or even fatal injuries.

The following materials must not be picked up

by the vacuum cleaner:

• hazardous dust
• hot materials (burning cigarettes, hot ashes etc.)
• flammable, explosive, aggressive liquids (e.g. petrol, solvents, acids, alkalis, etc.)
• flammable, explosive dust (e.g. magnesium or aluminium dust etc.)

Electrical connection

WARNING

• Before using the vacuum cleaner make sure that the voltage shown on the rating plate of the vacuum cleaner corresponds to the voltage of the local mains power supply.
• It is recommended that the vacuum cleaner should be connected via a residual current circuit breaker.
• The vacuum cleaner must not be used if the electrical cable or plug shows any sign of damage. Regularly inspect the cable and the plug for damage. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Nilfi sk Service or an electrician to avoid danger before use of the vacuum cleaner is continued.
• Do not handle the electrical cable or plug with wet hands.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cable. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cable. The plug must always be removed from the socket outlet before starting any service or repair work of the machine or cable.

Maintenance

Always remove the electric plug from the socket before carrying out maintenance work on the machine.

Recycling the vacuum cleaner

The packaging materials can be recycled. Please recycle the components instead of throwing them in your household rubbish. You can also leave the packaging directly at your Nilfi sk location to be properly recycled from there.

As specified in European Directive 2002/96/EC on old electrical and electronic appliances, used electrical goods must be collected separately and recycled ecologically. Contact your local authorities or your nearest dealer for further information.

Warranty

Nilfisk warranties apply for the duration specified, calculated from the time of handover of the product to the customer. The warranty guarantees that the product is free from defects.

Batteries, lamps and wearing parts are excluded from the warranty.

In the event of defects arising during the duration of the warranty and of which Nilfi sk is given notice, Nilfi sk will, of their own choice, either repair the defects, replace the unit or refund the purchase price upon return of the unit. Excluded from this warranty are defects, disorders and wearing effects that can be attributed to wearing from normal use, improper handling or faulty maintenance. Opening the unit housing causes the warranty to become void. Further claims may not be made on the basis of the warranty. The statutory warranty rights of the customer remain unaffected. Warranties can be claimed upon presentation of the product and sales receipt. Manufacturer warranty claims shall be made to the manufacturer. Statutory warranty rights also remain unaffected in this case.

Picking up liquids

Before liquids are picked up, always remove the filter bag. Insert filter for wet operation. Check that the fl oat works properly. If foam develops or liquid emerges from the machine, stop work immediately and empty the dirt tank.

Connecting electrical appliances

Use the socket on the vacuum cleaner for the purpose defi ned in the operating instructions only. Before plugging an appliance into the appliance socket:

1. Switch off the vacuum cleaner.
2. Switch off the appliance to be connected. CAUTION! Follow the operating instructions and safety instructions for appliances connected to the power tool socket. Always unwind the cable of the vacuum cleaner completely before use.

The power consumption of the connected appliance must never exceed the value stated on the type plate of the vacuum cleaner.

The operating voltage shown on the rating plate must correspond to the voltage of the mains power supply.

Filter Clean (ref. illu. 3, page 4)

When the suction performance drops:

1. Connect the power supply.
2. Turn the speed regulation to "max" (ref. page 7) (depending on model).
3. Close the suction hose opening with the palm of your hand.
4. Make a hard/fast push to the Filter clean button (ref. pos. "B" page 7). Repeat pushing 3 times. The resulting stream of air cleans the fi liter.

Cable rewind function

1. Disconnect the power supply. Always clean cable before rewind using a wet/damp cloth.
2. Rewind the cable using the cable rewind button (ref. pos. "C" page 7).

WARNING

When activating the automatic cord rewind, care must be taken as the plug at the end of the cord can swing during the last part of the rewinding. It is recommended that you hold on to the plug while rewinding.

Filter change (ref. illu. 4, page 4)

1. Disconnect the power supply.
2. Turn the fi iter disc counter-clockwise. Carefully remove the fi iter and check it for damages. Replace the filter if necessary and dispose the filter according to legal regulations. Using wet and dry fi iter, clean the fi iter by compressed air (keep proper

distance in order not to damage the fi liter with the air stream) or rinse in water. Dry fi liter before use.

1. Carefully clean the fi Iter sealing areas, mount the fi Iter and tighten the fi Iter clockwise.

Changing fi Iter bag

1. Disconnect the power supply.
2. Carefully remove the fi Iter bag from the container and close the small slider in the top of the fi Iter bag. Dispose the fi Iter bag in accordance with legal regulations.
3. Insert the new filter bag in the container and press it gently on the inlet fitting using both hands. Nilfisk always recommends the use of a filter bag for fine dust.
