Description of product
A rechargeable grass and shrub cutter is described in this documentation.
Intended use
This device is only intended for trimming and cutting ornamental shrubs and bushes that are not very thick. The device can be turned into a grass cutter using the supplied grass blade. Any other use is deemed as being not in accordance with its intended use.
The rechargeable grass and shrub cutter cannot replace a hedge cutter and should not be used as such!
Wrong use
This grass and shrub cutter is not intended for use in public grounds, parks, sporting arenas or in agriculture and forestry. The device must not be used for commercial purposes. Existing safety equipment may not be taken off or by-passed; for example the safety switch may not be fixed. - Do not use the device when it is raining and/or on a wet lawn.

Child lock
The hole (5 mm) at the handle is designed for a padlock* (6). The padlock prevents unintended triggering of the device.

- Do not open the device. (only when disposing of the rechargeable battery) There is a danger of a short circuit. Use only original chargers from the manufacturer Do not throw the device into an open fire.
- Protect the device from heat and direct sunlight
- Check the housing, plug and cable for damage each time the charger is used. Do not use the device if it is damaged.
- Do not open the charger! Replace the charger if it is defective.
- Protect the device, battery, and charger from moisture. Only charge indoors. Incorrect use can cause fluid to escape from the battery. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water, and immediately see a doctor if fluid comes into contact with your eyes.

Children and persons who are not familiar with these operating instructions are not permitted to use the device. Do not operate the device when under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
Prior to each use, check the device and battery charger for damage and have damaged parts replaced. Remove any foreign objects from the working area before use. Wear suitable work clothing:
Protective goggles, long trousers, robust, non-slip footwear
Ensure that you have a firm footing when working.
- Keep other persons away from dangerous areas.
- Keep your body, body parts, and clothing away from the cutter area. Only work when there is adequate daylight or artificial lighting. Move the device away from your body when working. Only remove cuttings when the motor is at a standstill.
- Never leave the device unattended when it is ready for operation.

Check, after contact with foreign bodies, for damage to the rechargeable grass and shrub cutter. In the event of serious damage, take the device to an AL-KO service centre.
Commissioning
Charge the battery

Danger - risk of fire and explosion!
The charging device becomes warm when charging. Do not operate the device on an easily flammable ground or in a flammable environment.
The device handle can become warm during the charging process. This is normal. The battery in the device is partially charged! Fully charge the battery before using it for the first time. Do not use the device when charging.

The battery can be charged in any state of charge. Interrupting the charging process does not adversely affect the battery.
- Connect the charger using the charging point on the rechargeable grass and shrub cutter. (C1)
- Connect the charger to the mains supply. The charging process starts when the green LED remains constantly illuminated. The battery is fully charged once the LED is no longer illuminated. (1)

The temperature range for the charging process should be between 0°C and +45°C . Maximum charging time: 4 h
- Disconnect the plug from the charging device and from the device.

The battery is protected from overcharging and can thus remain connected to the mains supply.
Operation
Turn on the device
- Push the die kill-switch forwards. ( )
- Press the activating switch. (2-2)
- You can release the kill switch while pressing the switch.

A clicking sound can be heard after turning the device on. This is due to the mechanics and is completely normal.
Turn off the device.
- Release the activation switch.
- Wait until the blade stops moving. The blade continues to run after the motor has been switched off!

- Press both unlocking buttons together to take out the blade. (3)
- Lubricate the gearbox enclosure with grease regularly.
- Insert the blade into the mounting and press it firmly into the base of the blade to click it into place. (C4)
- Clean the blade with a brush or dry cloth. Remove any impurities that may be present from the gearbox enclosure. (5)
Only use if visibility is good. Only work with a sharp cutter blade. The operating time of the shrub cutter depends on the condition of the battery and the properties of the items being cut. Frequently switching the device on and off reduces the operating time.
Storing the rechargeable grass and shrub cutter and charger
Store the device in a place inaccessible to children and unauthorized persons. Only store the device with the blade protection attached. Do not place any other objects on the device. Store the device in a dry, frost-free location with an ambient temperature between 0°C and +35°C. Only store the device with the battery fully charged. Recharge the battery for approximately 2 hours after a 6-month storage period.

The optimum temperature for storing the device is between 0°C and 20°C.
Repairs
Repairs must only be carried out at AL-KO service centers or authorized specialist firms. Only use original parts.
Maintenance and care

Danger - risk of injury! Always wear work gloves when carrying out maintenance on the cutter blade!

Turn off the device when carrying out maintenance work. The blades continue to move after the motor has been switched off.
After cutting work, thoroughly clean the device with a hand brush or a cloth. - Do not hose down the device with water! Water ingress can damage the switch as well as the battery and the electric motor. Regularly check the cutter blade for damage. Replace stumps or damaged cutting blades before using it for the next time. Treat the cutting blade with oil or a lubricating spray after each use. Switch on the device briefly to distribute the oil better. Professional inspection is necessary:
If the motor is blocked If the cutting blade is bent or damaged If the battery is damaged or drained
Transport
The battery has been tested according to the UN manual. This is why the battery is not subject to the national and international regulations concerning hazardous goods, whether as individual item or when fitted to the device.
Only transport the battery in the device. Regulations in relation to hazardous goods may apply when transporting several batteries. Never carry the device by the cutting blade. Only transport the device with the blade protection attached.
Disposal

Do not dispose of worn-out devices, batteries or rechargeable batteries in the household waste!
Packaging, device and accessories are made of recyclable materials and are to be disposed of accordingly.
The user is obligated to return the batteries and accumulators. The device can be disposed of at the dealer or at a waste disposal centre. Integrated batteries can only be removed for disposal. Removing the batteries:
Discharge the device fully. Take all screws in the housing. Open the housing. Disconnect the connections to the battery. Take out the battery.
Recycle the battery in an environmentally-friendly manner.

We will rectify possible material and manufacturing faults on the device during the statutory period of limitation for warranty claims by means of repairs or replacement at our discretion.
The period of limitation is governed by the laws of the country in which the device was purchased.
Our guarantee is valid only if: The guarantee becomes invalid if:
The device has been properly handled. The operating instructions have been adhered to. Original spare parts are used.
Efforts have been made to repair the device. Technical modifications have been made to the device. The device has not been used for its intended purpose (e.g. commercial or municipal authority use).
The guarantee does not include:

Protective goggles; long trousers; sturdy, non-slip footwear.
During work, ensure a safe position. Do not allow anyone to enter the danger zone. Keep a safe distance from the cutting mechanism and do not allow clothing edges to get caught in it. Work only in sufficient daylight or artificial lighting. Cut grass/bushes away from yourself. Remove cut grass/branches only after the feed mechanism has stopped. Do not leave the device ready for operation unattended.

In case of contact with a foreign object, inspect the battery shears and the grass and bushes for damage. If serious consequences or damage are found, contact the service center of the AL-KO company.
Commissioning
Charging the battery

During charging, the charging device heats up. Do not place it on flammable materials and do not use it in a fire hazard area.
The device handle may heat up during charging. This is normal.
The battery in the device is partially charged! Before first use, fully charge the battery. Do not use the device during charging.

The battery can be charged at any charge level. Interrupting charging does not damage the battery.
1. Connect the charging device to the charging socket on the battery for trimming grass and shrubs. 2. Connect the charging device to the electrical network. The charging process is indicated by a constant green light. If the light goes out, this means the charge is complete.

Used devices, batteries, and accumulators must not be disposed of with household waste!
Packaging, device, and accessories are made from recyclable materials and should be disposed of appropriately.
Please return batteries or accumulators. Disposal can be carried out by a dealer or a collection point. Built-in accumulators may only be removed for disposal. Removing the accumulator:
Discharge the device completely; unscrew all screws from the housing; open the housing; disconnect all wires from the accumulator; remove the accumulator.
Hand over the accumulator to an organization that can dispose of it without harming the environment.

This document describes the accessories for trimming grass and bushes.
Intended use
These accessories are intended for trimming decorative bushes and bushes with small thickness. With the help of the trimming knives included in the delivery set, the device can be converted for trimming grass. Use outside the established frames is considered non-compliant with the intended use.

The lever for switching is equipped with a 5-millimeter hole for a lock (the lock prevents accidental switching of the device).

The battery can be charged in any state of charge. Interrupting the charging process does not harm the battery.
1. Connect the charging device to the charging socket of the battery for the tool. (1)
2. Connect the charging device to the mains power supply. The charging process is indicated by the continuous green light of the LED. When the battery is fully charged, the LED goes out. (1)

Do not place any objects on the device.
Store the device in a dry place at an ambient temperature between 0 and +35°C. Store the device only in a fully charged state. After 6 months of storage, charge the battery for about 2 hours.

The optimal storage temperature for the device is between 0°C and 20°C.
Repair
Repair work may only be carried out by qualified service personnel of the AL-KO company or authorized workshops. Use only original spare parts.

Before maintenance, switch off the device. After switching off, the blade continues to rotate by inertia.
Periodically check the device for damage from impact or vibration. If the device is damaged, stop using it! Water ingress inside can damage the switch, as well as the battery and electronics.
Regularly check the knife for sharpness. If the blade is damaged, replace it before further use. ■ After use, clean the blade with oil and aerosol spray. For better distribution of oil, briefly turn on the device.
A specialist check is needed:
if the device is dropped; if the blade is bent or damaged;
if the switch is damaged or leaking.
Transport
The battery is checked according to the instructions. The battery
is neither a separate part nor a complete device, so it does not fall under national or international regulations for the transport of dangerous goods.
Transport the battery only in the device.
When transporting multiple batteries, they may be subject to regulations for the transport of dangerous goods. Do not carry the device by the blade. Transport the device only with the blade guard installed.
Disposal

The device, batteries, or accumulators that have reached the end of their service life must not be disposed of with household waste!
The packaging, device, and accessories are made from recyclable and reusable materials. They should be disposed of properly.
The user is obliged to return used batteries or accumulators. Disposal can be carried out by the dealer or at a collection point. Built-in accumulators can be removed for disposal.
Removing the battery:

Intended use
This device is intended for trimming and cutting decorative shrubs and hedges. With the supplied blade attachment, it can be converted into hedge shears. Any other use is considered improper use.

Do not open the device. (Only for disposal of the battery as waste) There is a risk of short circuit. Use only original chargers from the manufacturer. Do not throw the device into open fire. Keep the device away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
Before each use of the charging device, check the housing, plug and cable for damage. Do not use the device if such damage is present.
Do not open the charging device! Replace the charging device if it is defective. Keep the device, battery and charging device away from moisture. Perform charging only indoors. If the battery is used incorrectly, liquid may leak. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with water and consult a doctor.

If you have not read and understood this operating manual, do not use the device. Do not use the device under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
Before each use, check the device and the charging unit for damage; replace damaged parts. Keep children and other people away from the work area.
Wear work clothes
Protective gloves and safety glasses must be worn.
During work, ensure you stand in a stable, upright position. Keep your balance and do not overreach. Keep the tool, cutting edges, and workpiece away from moving parts. Work only in sufficient daylight or artificial lighting. During work, hold the device firmly with both hands.
Remove the material only when the device is switched off. Do not leave the prepared work unattended.

Avoid contact with moving parts. Keep the charging station and battery pack clean and dry. If damaged, contact the service center.
Starting operation
Charging the battery

Warning - risk of fire and explosion! During charging, the charging unit heats up. Do not use it on flammable surfaces or in a flammable environment.
The device may become warm during charging. This is normal.
The battery in the device is partially charged! Before first use, charge the battery fully. Do not use the device during the charging process.

The battery can be charged in any state of charge. Charging does not damage the battery.
- Connect the charging unit to the power outlet for charging the battery pack. (1)
- Plug the charging device into the electrical mains. The charging indicator lights up green (LED) when the battery is charging. The battery is fully charged when the LED goes out. (C)

The ambient temperature during charging must be between 0°C and +45°C. Maximum charging time: 4 hours.
3. DISCONNECT the charging device from the electrical mains.

The battery is protected against overcharging, and therefore it can remain connected to the electrical mains.
Maintenance
Switching on the device
- Press the lock button. (1)
- Press the trigger. (2-2) 3. Once you press the trigger, you can release the lock button.

After switching on the device, it may make a noise. This is due to the mechanics and is completely normal.
Switching off the device
- Release the trigger. 2. Wait until the blade stops. After switching off, the blade continues to run!

- Press the release button to remove the blade. (4) 4. Carefully remove the blade from the mechanism.
- Insert the blade into the holder and press it firmly onto its base to secure it.
6. Clean the blade with a brush and dry cloth. Remove any possible blockages from the blade guide.
Operating instructions
The tool works at good visibility. Work only with the blade sharp. The duration of work of the blade for cutting depends on the condition of the battery and the quality of the material being cut. Frequent switching on and off reduces the duration of work.
Storage of the battery-powered hedge trimmer and the charging device
Store the device out of the reach of children and other unauthorized persons. Store the device only with the protective guard attached. Do not place other objects on top of the device. Store the device in a dry, protected from freezing place at a temperature between 0°C and +35°C. Store the device only in a fully charged state. After six months of storage, charge the battery additionally for about 2 hours.

The optimal temperature for storing the device is between 0° C and 20° C.
Repair
Repair work may only be carried out by the AL-KO service or by a specialized authorized company. Only original spare parts may be used.
