Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jew- ellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. u Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. u Do not run with the power tool. u Always use the product at waist level on the ground. u Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe in- jury within a fraction of a second. Power tool use and care u Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. u Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for mis- alignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Allow the motor to stop rotating be- fore switching on again. Do not rapidly switch off and on. u This product is not intended for use by persons (in- cluding children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and know- ledge, unless they have been given supervision or in- struction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be super- vised to ensure that they do not play with the product. u Keep all cooling air inlets clear of debris. u Do not modify the product. Unauthorized modifications may impair the safety of your product and may result in increased noise and vibration. u Always start the product at a low speed level, espe- cially in cold temperatures. u Do not place other objects on the product. u Do not use the product in closed rooms where dust can be inhaled. u If the tool exhibits unusual noise or vibration, espe- cially from the fan, return it to the service centre. Safety Instructions and Recommendations for Optimal Handling of the Battery u Ensure the product is switched off before inserting the battery. Inserting the battery into a product that has the switch on can cause accidents. u Use only Bosch batteries intended specifically for this product. Use of any other batteries may create a risk of injury and fire. u Do not open the battery. There is a risk of short-circuit- ing. Protect the battery against heat (e.g., against continuous intense sunlight), fire, water, and moisture. There is a risk of explo- sion. u Keep the battery not being used away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. u In case of damage and improper use of the battery pack, vapours may be emitted. Ventilate the area and seek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours can irritate the respiratory system. u Only use the battery with products from the manufac- turer. This is the only way in which you can protect the battery against dangerous overload. u The battery can be damaged by pointed objects such as nails or screwdrivers or by force applied externally. An internal short circuit may occur, causing the battery to burn, smoke, explode or overheat. u Do not short-circuit the battery. There is a risk of explo- sion. u Protect the battery against moisture and water. u Store the product and battery only within a temperature range between –20°C and 50°C . As an example, do not leave the battery in the car in summer. u Occasionally clean the venting slots of the battery using a soft, clean and dry brush. Press the release button once to disengage the battery from powering the tool, but allow it to sit on the second latch for transport around the garden, without activating the tool. u For best results, start the tool with full battery charge. Charge status can be checked by pressing the button on the battery and reading the LED indicator.
