How to change the battery of the Laserliner MetricStar?

Open the battery compartment (mark 9) on the device. Insert a round LR44 (AG13) battery observing polarity. Close the compartment.

What to do if the display blinks or stays off?

Flashing digits indicate a weak battery – replace it. If the screen remains off, check the battery contact or clean it. If the problem persists, remove the battery, wait a minute, and reinsert it.

How to perform an external measurement with the MetricStar?

Place the external measuring jaws (mark 1) around the object to be measured. Gently close until contact. Read the value on the digital display.

How to use the zero setting (tare) function?

Press the zero setting button (mark 3) to set the zero point at the current position. This allows differential measurement, e.g., comparing two dimensions.

Can the MetricStar measure depths?

Yes, use the depth gauge (mark 5) located at the back of the device. Place the base of the instrument on the edge of the object and extend the rod to the bottom.

What is the accuracy of the Laserliner MetricStar?

Accuracy is ±0.2 mm over the entire measuring range (0-150 mm). Resolution is 0.1 mm.

How to clean and maintain the caliper?

Clean the components with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use cleaning agents, abrasives, or solvents. Remove the battery for prolonged storage. Store the device in a dry and clean place.

How often should the MetricStar be calibrated?

It is recommended to calibrate the instrument every 1 to 2 years. Contact your distributor or UMAREX-LASERLINER after-sales service for this.

What safety precautions should be observed?

Do not use the device on rotating parts (risk of injury). The measuring surfaces are sharp – hold the device only by the handles. Avoid shocks, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.

How to use the HOLD function?

Press the HOLD button (mark 8) to freeze the displayed value. This allows you to read the measurement comfortably after removing the device.

1 Inserting battery

Open the battery compartment and insert battery (1x LR44 button cell) according to the symbols. Be sure to pay attention to polarity.

Press the HOLD button (8) to keep the current measured value on the display.

Automatic switch-off

The device switches off automatically if left idle for about 5 minutes.

Information on maintenance and care

Clean all components with a damp cloth and do not use cleaning agents, scouring agents and solvents. Remove the battery(ies) before storing for longer periods. Store the device in a clean and dry place.

Calibration

The measuring device should be calibrated and tested on a regular basis to ensure it is accurate and working properly. We recommend the measuring device is calibrated every 1 - 2 years. If necessary, contact your distributor or the UMAREX- LASERLINER service department. The zero setting must be checked prior to every use by sliding the measuring jaws together.
