Does the AiMesh router support access point mode?

Yes. You can configure the AiMesh router in router mode or access point mode. To do so, go to the management interface (http://router.asus.com) and go to Administration > Operation Mode.

Can I use a wired connection between AiMesh routers (Ethernet backhaul)?

Yes. The AiMesh system supports both wireless and wired connections. After establishing the initial WiFi connection, you can connect the LAN port of the AiMesh router to the WAN port of the node with an Ethernet cable. The system will automatically choose the best path, wired or wireless.

How to reset the ZenWifi AX XD6 to factory settings?

Press and hold the Reset button on the back of the device for about 5 seconds until the LED light blinks. Release, the device will restart with factory settings.

What does each LED color mean?

Solid blue: ready for setup. Solid white: online and fully functional. Solid yellow: weak WiFi signal between router and node. Solid red: no internet connection or node not connected to router.

How to improve WiFi range?

Place the router and AiMesh nodes in an open, spacious area away from metal obstacles and electronic devices such as microwaves or cordless phones. Use the AiMesh function to extend the network.

How to update the router firmware?

In the ASUS Router app or via the web interface, go to Administration > Firmware Update. Click Check then Download and Install if an update is available.

Is the ZenWifi AX XD6 compatible with ADSL or fiber modems?

Yes, it is compatible with any modem providing an Ethernet connection. Connect the modem to the WAN port of the router.

How to add an additional AiMesh node?

Place the new node within 3 meters of the router, turn it on, then open the ASUS Router app. Follow the instructions to Add a Node. The system will sync it automatically.

Can I use the ZenWifi AX XD6 with another Asus router?

Yes, if it is compatible with AiMesh technology. Make sure the second router supports AiMesh to create a mesh network.

How to configure guest network?

In the ASUS Router app or the web interface, go to Guest Network and enable it. You can set a separate name (SSID) and password for guests.

Before Setup

Preparing to set up an AiMesh WiFi system

Find two ZenWiFi XD6 units and power them on. Use a network cable to connect your optical modem to the WAN port of either ZenWiFi XD6. This ZenWiFi XD6 will be the AiMesh router, and the other ZenWiFi XD6 will be the AiMesh node. The LED turns solid blue to indicate that the ZenWiFi XD6 is ready for setup.

Troubleshooting

If your AiMesh router cannot find any AiMesh node nearby or synchronization fails, please check the following and try again.

a Move your AiMesh node closer to the AiMesh router ideally. Ensure that it is within 3 meters. b Your AiMesh node is powered on.

Relocation

Locate the AiMesh router and node at the best place.

NOTES: To minimize interference, keep the routers away from devices like cordless phones, Bluetooth devices and microwave ovens.

We recommend that you place the routers in an open or spacious location.

Troubleshooting

If the AiMesh router cannot find an AiMesh node or an error occurs during synchronization, follow the instructions below and retry.

Move the AiMesh node closer to the AiMesh router. Make sure they are within a distance of no more than 3 meters.
