How to set up the DSL-AX82U router for the first time?

Plug in the power adapter and connect the telephone cable to the DSL port. Turn on the router. Connect to the Wi-Fi network whose SSID is on the back label. Open a browser and go to http://router.asus.com. The setup wizard will guide you.

What is the default username and password?

The default username and password are admin and admin.

How to reset the router to factory settings?

Press and hold the Reset button on the back of the router for about 5 seconds until the power LED flashes.

How to update the router firmware?

Log in to the administration interface, go to Administration > Firmware Update. You can check for updates automatically or download the file from the ASUS website and upload it.

What to do if the DSL/WAN LED stays red?

A solid red LED indicates the router is ready but the internet connection is not established. Check the DSL connections and your connection settings (ISP credentials). If the LED flashes red, the router is trying to connect to the DSLAM.

How to enable the guest Wi-Fi network?

In the administration interface, go to Wi-Fi > Guest Network. You can enable up to 3 guest networks on each frequency band.

What types of internet connection are supported?

The router supports VDSL, ADSL, ADSL2+ and Ethernet WAN connection (for cable or fiber modem).

How to change the Wi-Fi password?

Log in to the administration interface, go to Wi-Fi > Settings. Under the 'WPA security key' field, enter a new password and click Apply.

Does the router have a VPN function?

Yes, the DSL-AX82U supports OpenVPN and PPTP VPN server, as well as VPN client. You can configure them in the administration interface, VPN section.

Can I use this router with an internet service provider other than Free/Orange/SFR?

Yes, the router is compatible with most French ISPs using VDSL/ADSL. You may need to configure the connection type (PPPoE, PPPoA, etc.) with the parameters provided by your ISP.

Setting up your xDSL router

1. Insert your xDSL modem router's power adapter to the DCIN port and plug it to a power outlet.
2. Connect one end of the RJ-11 cable to the DSL port of your xDSL modem router, and connect the other end to the DSL port of your splitter.
3. Turn on your xDSL modem router and wait for a few minutes for Internet connection.

1. When the DSL/WAN LED stops flashing and lights constantly, you can start the DSL setup process via the QIS Wizard (Quick Internet Setup Wizard).

a. Open a web browser and enter http://router.asus.com to launch the web GUI. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

b. You can also choose the ASUS Router app to set up your router. Download the ASUS Router App to set up your router via your mobile devices.

LAN LED	Color: White. Off: No data activity or no physical connection. On: Ethernet connection is established.
DSL/WAN LED	Color: White and red Off: Both DSL and WAN cables are unplugged. Flashing red slowly: DSL is attempting to connect to a DSLAM. Solid red: Device is ready for configuration but Internet connection has not been established yet. Solid white: Internet connection is established.

Setting up the xDSL router

1. Connect the power adapter to your xDSL modem-router's power input, then plug it into a power outlet.
2. Connect one end of an RJ-11 cable to the DSL port on your xDSL modem-router, then connect the other end to the DSL port on your splitter.
