Protection of yourself and others
For safety reasons, children or persons who are not familiar with the instruction manual and operation of the trimmer, must not use it. The minimum age of users may be defined by local or national legislation.
Do not operate the trimmer when there are people (especially children) or animals in the immediate vicinity. Ensure children do not play with the trimmer.
➢ Stop using the device if persons (especially children) or animals are nearby.
This device must not be used by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or with inadequate experience and knowledge. Likewise persons must be familiar with this instruction manual before using the device. The minimum age for using the device may be specified by local or national legislation.
- Cleaning and servicing may not be carried out by children.
Only switch the motor on if your feet and hands are at a safe distance from the cutting element.
➢ Always remove the power pack from the device if you are leaving it unattended or removing a blockage.Always wear sturdy shoes and long trousers as well as other appropriate personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear defenders, safety gloves etc.) when working with the trimmer. The wearing of personal protective equipment minimises the risk of injury. Do not wear loose clothing, etc., which could be caught by the cutting tool.
The operator or user is responsible for accidents, injuries to other people or damage to their property.
Before use
Before use, make sure you are familiar with the trimmer, its functions and controls.
Do not use any trimmer whose switch is defective and which can no longer be switched on or off. It must be repaired by a qualified expert or workshop.
Never use a device with damaged or missing guards or covers. They must be repaired or replaced by a qualified expert or workshop.
Before use, make sure that the lawn is free from branches, stones, wire etc. and look out for such objects the whole time when trimming.
Before making adjustments to the device or cleaning it, switch it off and remove the power pack.
Read and observe the operating instructions of the power pack and its charger.
Safety instructions
When in use
Beware of injuries to the feet and hand caused by the cutting element.
Remove the power pack from the device:
- Whenever you leave the device unattended. - Before removing blockages.
- Before checking cleaning or working on the device.
- After impacting a foreign body to check the device for damage.
- For immediate checking if the device starts to vibrate excessively.
Do not use the device in an explosive environment, where there are inflammable liquids, gases or dusts. The trimmer may create sparks, which could ignite the dust or vapours.
➢ Never leave the trimmer unattended during breaks and store it in a secure location.
➢ Hold the trimmer parallel to the lawn when switching on, otherwise there is a risk of injury.
Also when working maintain a safe distance relative to the rotating line.
Do not reach into the area of the rotating line.
Take care to avoid injury when using the cutting device for shortening the line length. After pulling out new line, always hold the device in its normal working position before you switch it on.
- Wear suitable safety goggles and ear defenders!
➢ Adopt a normal posture. Ensure you are standing securely and that you maintain your balance at all times. Pay particular attention, if you are working on a slope. Do not run, rather walk forwards at a steady pace. This will ensure that you can maintain better control of the device if unexpected situations occur.
Take extra care if you are walking backwards. Risk of tripping!
➢ Remove the power pack when carrying the device to or from separate working positions. ➢ Never bypass or manipulate safety devices installed on the device (e.g. by taping the push-button to the handle).
Do not push the line box into the ground or hit it against wall edges. If the line box suddenly receives a heavy blow, be prepared for increased vibration at the handle. If this does occur, the device must be checked and, if necessary, repaired by a qualified expert or workshop.
Exercise caution when handling the plastic knife. Risk of injury!
After use
Switch the device off, remove the power pack and check the device for damage. Attention, danger! Cutting tool still running!
If you need to clean or service the device, switch it off and remove the power pack.
➢ Always wait until the cutting tool comes to a standstill.
Do not touch any moving dangerous parts, without first removing the power pack.
➢ Removal of guards or replacement of the line spool/knife must only be performed with the power pack removed. Use only original WOLF-Garten line spools/plastic knives and observe the fitting instructions!
➢ Ensure that ventilation slots are free from dirt.
Do not clean the trimmer using water.
Store the device in a secure location.
Store the device out of reach of children.
Do not repair the device yourself; it must be repaired by a qualified expert or workshop.
➢ Let the device cool down before putting it away and/or storing it.
General safety instructions
➢ Never replace the non-metallic cutting element with a metallic cutting element!
Always wait until the cutting tool comes to a standstill and do not touch any moving dangerous parts, without first removing the power pack.
Safety instructions
Spare parts must meet the requirements of the manufacturer. Therefore use only original WOLF-Garten spare parts or spare parts approved by the manufacturer. During replacement, always observe the supplied fitting instructions, remove the power pack in advance.
➢ Repairs must only be performed by a qualified expert or workshop.
This trimmer is intended for the care of lawn edges and smaller grass and lawn areas in private households. The device must not be used for purposes other than those intended because of the risk of bodily injury to the user or other persons.
Only use the trimmer in daylight or under bright artificial light. Keep your work area clean and well lit.
Only use the trimmer in dry weather conditions. Keep the device away from rain or damp and do not use it during a storm. The ingress of water into the trimmer increases the risk of an electric shock.
Intended use
The trimmer with inserted line spool is intended solely for the care of lawn edges and smaller grass and lawn areas in private households.
With the plastic knife inserted smaller shrubs such as nettles or brambles can be trimmed.
Any other use is classed as unintended use.
The user is liable for any damages arising from unintended use.
Incorrect/abnormal use
This trimmer should not be used in public facilities, parks, sports grounds, roads etc. nor in agriculture or forestry.
To prevent bodily injury to the user, the trimmer must not be used to cut thicker branches or for shredding for the purpose of composting.

Make sure the operating instructions of the POWER Base 72V / POW-ER Base 72V Basic charger and of the Li High Energy 72V power pack are available and that you understand them and adhere to them.
Power pack charging
WARNING!

Risk of injuries or material damage ➢ Only charge the power pack with charger POWER Base 72V / POWER Base 72V Basic.
Attention!
The power pack is supplied partially charged. Before first use, fully charge the power pack using the charger POWER Base 72V / POWER Base 72V Basic to ensure the full capacity of the power pack.
→ Power pack charging must be carried out according to the instructions in the supplementary documentation.
Operating times
→ Observe the times stipulated in local byelaws.
→ Check if there are any operating time limitations with your local authorities.
Assembly
Fitting the protective cover (Fig. B)
→ Forcefully press the protective coA on to the trimmer B 1.
√ The protective cover audibly engages.
Attaching the shield (Fig. C)

Note
The shield must be removed before using the edge cutting function.
The shield A b prevents the cut material from being excessively scattered if you are working close to the edge of the lawn area.
→ Clip the shield into the protective cover①.
→ Fold the shield lock over the shield to provide additional securing C ②.
Attaching the carrying belt (Fig. D)
→ Attach the carrying AIf at the two hooks D.

Note
For safety reasons only carry the device supported over your shoulder and never around your neck. The belt has a quick release attachment so that it can be quickly disconnected in the event of a malfunction.
Wheels (Fig. 8) ★
Use the wheels to obtain a clean and uniform cut.

➢ Always remove the power pack prior to working on the device.
→ Press the brac#g on to the telescopic arm E 1.
→ Open the lever on the bracket.
→ Push the adapter from above into the bracket until it engages E 2.
→ Push the wheAsh from above into the adapter until they engage E 4.
→ Push the wheels into the desired height position E 5.
→ Reverse the lever of the bracket to secure the wheels at the set height E 6.
Operation
Adjusting the length of the telescopic arm (Fig. F)
→ Undo the threaded sleeve.
→ Pull the telescopic arms apart, until the ideal handle length is obtained F ②.
→ Tighten the threaded sleeve3.
Adjusting the middle handle (Fig. G)
→ Undo the locking lever on the middle handle①.
→ Push the middle handle to the desired height G ②.
→ Adjust the inclination of the middle hancle3.
→ Clamp the locking le4.

Switching the device on (Fig. Ⅰ)
→ Press and hold the right or left releasing device Ⅰ①.
→ Press and hold the on/off but②.
√ The device operates.
Adjusting the line (Fig. J)
Automatic
If the cutting line becomes too short due to wear, its working length is automatically readjusted. With each switching off and on the line is adjusted out of the line cassette.

Manual line adjustment may be necessary during first use, after adjustment of the plastic knife or after changing the coil spool.
→ Press the red knJo1.
→ Pull the line out on both sides②.
Note
Frequently switching on and off without reason results in increased line wear.
Adjusting the working angle (Fig. K)

The trimmer can be set in any of four different operating angles. This allows you to easily reach problematic and difficult-to-access positions in the garden.
→ Press and hold the locating button.
→ Set the operating an a b c d.
√ The arm engages audibly.
→ Release the locating button.
Edge cutting function (Fig. L)
The edge cutting function enables precise and easy cutting along the lawn edge.
→ Simultaneously turn and pull the handle.
√ The head of the trimmer can be turned through

Inserting the plastic knife (Fig. M)

➢ Only adjust the device with the motor switched off and the cutting tool at a standstill.
Do not reach into the area of the rotating line.
➢ Always remove the power pack prior to working on the device.
Use the plastic knives A e, so that it also possible to trim smaller shrubs such as nettles or brambles.
→ Simultaneously strongly press both of the engaging lugs of the spool cap together M ① and pull it off M ②.
→ Turn the spool body in the line box, until the line only projects about 2 cm from the line box M ③.
→ Attach two plastic kniA se on the spool cap M 4.
→ Carefully pull the plastic knives outwards until they engage M 5.
→ Simultaneously strongly press both of the engaging lugs of the plastic knives spool cap A d together M 6 and pull it off the line box M 7.
Switching the device off (Fig. 1)
→ Release the on/off switch to switch the device off 1 2..
√ If you release the on/off switch, the releasing device automatically locks again ①①.
Power pack removal (Fig. N)
→ Press the power pack release1.
→ Remove the power park2.

Only clean or service the device if the motor is stationary and also the cutting tool.
- Always remove the power pack prior to working on the device.
➢ Repair and service work as well as the replacement of safety elements must be performed by a qualified expert or workshop.
Cleaning the trimmer
→ Switch the trimmer off and wait until the cutting tool comes to a standstill and remove the power pack.
→ Clean the device with a hand brush after every use.
→ Clean the ventilation slots and underside of the device at regular intervals to remove grass residues.
Attention!
Never spray the device with water or a pressure washer.
Replacing the line spool (Fig. 0)

WARNING!

Risk of injuries due to the cutting tool.
➢ Only adjust the device with the motor switched off and the cutting tool at a standstill.
Do not reach into the area of the rotating line.
➢ Always remove the power pack prior to working on the device.
→ Simultaneously strongly press both of the engaging lugs of the spool cap together ① and pull it off ②.
→ Remove the line sp③.
→ If necessary, remove any dirt.
→ Thread the line ends of the new spool through the eyes of the line box ① ④ and insert the new line spool in the line box ⑤.
→ Extend the line ends out of the spool fastening ☐ 6.
→ Simultaneously strongly press both of the engaging lugs of the spool cap together and push it on to the line spool until it engages ① ⑦.
Transport and storage

WARNING!

Risk of injuries due to the cutting tool.
Before transport or storage, switch off the device and wait until the cutting tool comes to a standstill.
Remove the power pack before transport or storage.
Storage
→ Thoroughly clean your device after every season.
→ Always store the device in a dry and safe location that is inaccessible to children.
→ Store the power pack and trimmer separately.
→ Store the power pack in a cool and dry location. Recommended storage temperature approx. 18 °C.
→ Keep the trimmer and especially its plastic components away from brake fluids, petrol, mineral oil containing products, penetrating oils etc. They contain chemical substances that can damage, attack or destroy the plastic components of the trimmer.
→ Fertilizers and other garden chemicals contain substances that may have a highly corrosive effect on the metal parts of the trimmer. Therefore do not store your trimmer in the vicinity of these substances.
