Frequently Asked Questions - SLEEK ELICA

How to clean the grease filters of the SLEEK hood?
The metal grease filters must be cleaned at least once a month. You can wash them by hand with a non-aggressive detergent or in the dishwasher at low temperature and short cycle. To remove them, pull the spring handle. Caution: dishwasher washing may discolor the filter without affecting its efficiency.
When should the activated carbon filter be replaced?
The activated carbon filter must be replaced at most every 4 months, or sooner if usage is intensive. It cannot be cleaned or regenerated. A flashing L5 indicator after 160 hours of operation indicates it is time to change it (if the signal is activated).
How to activate the timer mode on the SLEEK hood?
To activate the timer, press the 4 button (speed timer). The hood will turn off automatically after: 20 min on speed 1, 15 min on speed 2, 10 min on speed 3, or 5 min on intensive speed. During the timer, the corresponding indicators flash. You can cancel by pressing the 1 button (ON/OFF).
What does the steady L5 indicator mean?
The steady L5 indicator means that the grease filter has reached 40 hours of operation and needs to be cleaned. To reset the signal, press and hold the 1 button for 3 seconds. If the indicator flashes, it concerns the carbon filter (after 160 hours).
What is the minimum distance to respect between the hood and the hob?
The minimum distance between the cooking surface and the lowest part of the hood is 50 cm for electric cooktops and 65 cm for gas or mixed cooktops. If the instructions of your cooking appliance specify a greater distance, follow that.
How to reset the filter saturation signal?
To reset the grease filter signal (steady L5 indicator), press and hold the 1 button for 3 seconds. For the carbon filter (flashing L5 indicator), perform the same operation. If both signals are active, repeat the procedure twice: the first cancels the grease signal, the second the carbon signal.
Can I use the hood without a carbon filter in extraction version?
Yes, if you use the hood in extraction version (external evacuation), the carbon filter is not necessary and should even be removed. In recirculation version (recycling), the carbon filter is mandatory to deodorize the air before returning it to the room.
How to change the LED bulb of the SLEEK hood?
The lighting system uses integrated LEDs. In case of failure, contact after-sales service for replacement. Do not attempt to do it yourself, as the operation requires qualified intervention to avoid any electrical risk.
What to do in case of temperature alarm?
If the temperature in the control area becomes too high, the hood automatically switches to speed 3 and the L1, L2, L3 indicators flash sequentially. The alarm persists until the temperature drops. You can exit this mode by pressing the 1 or 2 buttons. Check that nothing obstructs the ventilation.
How to install the hood in recirculation version?
To use the hood in recirculation version, you must install an activated carbon filter (not supplied with all models). Mount it by turning clockwise on the protection grilles. Make sure to activate the carbon filter saturation signal by pressing and holding the 1 and 4 buttons for 3 seconds (the L1 and L2 indicators flash for 5 seconds).

Recommendations for correct use to reduce impact on the environment: Turn on the extractor hood at minimum speed when you start cooking and leave it running for a few minutes after you finish cooking. Increase the speed only in case of a large amount of smoke and steam, and use the boosted speeds only in extreme situations. Replace the charcoal filter when necessary to maintain good odor reduction efficiency. Clean the grease filters when necessary to maintain good grease filtration efficiency. Use the maximum diameter of the ducting system indicated in this manual to optimize efficiency and minimize noise levels.

Use

The hood is designed for use in the extraction mode (air exhausted outside) or in the recirculation mode (air recirculated inside).

ELICA SLEEK - Use - 1

Using the recirculation mode

In this mode, the vapors are discharged outside through the ducting connected to the connecting ring.

WARNING!

The exhaust duct is not included in the package and must be purchased separately.

The diameter of the exhaust duct must match the diameter of the connecting ring.

WARNING!

If the hood is equipped with a charcoal filter, make sure it is correctly installed.

Connect the hood to the exhaust duct with a diameter corresponding to the air outlet opening (connecting flange).

Using pipes with a smaller diameter will reduce the suction power and sharply increase the noise level.

Use a pipe with the minimum necessary length. Use a pipe with the minimum number of bends (maximum bend angle: 90 degrees) and avoid sharp changes in the pipe section.

ELICA SLEEK - WARNING! - 1

Use of the recirculation mode

air

A charcoal filter must be used, which absorbs the odors of the extracted air. The extracted air is filtered and then returned to the room through the upper grille.

Installation

The distance between the lower edge of the exhaust outlet and the hob must be at least 50 cm for electric hobs, and at least 65 cm for gas or combined hobs.

If the installation instructions for the gas hob specify a greater distance, take this into account.

ELICA SLEEK - Installation - 1

Electrical connection

The mains voltage must match the voltage indicated on the technical data plate located inside the appliance. If the plug is fitted with a plug, connect the plug to a suitable socket. It must comply with current regulations and be located in an easily accessible place. The socket can be switched on after installation. If the plug is not fitted with a plug (direct connection to the mains), or if the socket is not located in an accessible place after installation, use a standard two-pole switch that ensures complete disconnection from the mains in case of overvoltage category 3, in accordance with installation instructions.

ELICA SLEEK - Electrical connection - 1

WARNING!

Before connecting the electrical system of the hood to the power supply and checking its correct functioning, make sure that the power cable is correctly installed.

Warning! To avoid any risks, the operation of replacing the power cable must be carried out by qualified service personnel.
