Important safety information
WARNING!
Before using the power tool, please read the following and act accordingly:
these operating instructions,
- the "General safety instructions" on the handling of power tools in the enclosed booklet (leaflet-no.: 315915),
- the currently valid site rules and the regulations for the prevention of accidents.
This power tool is state of the art and has been constructed in accordance with the acknowledged safety regulations.
Nevertheless, when in use, the power tool may pose a danger to life and limb of the user or a third party, or the power tool or other property may be damaged.
The power tool may be operated only
for its intended use
- in perfect working order.
Faults which impair safety must be repaired immediately.
Intended use
The metal circular saw is designed
for commercial use in industry and trade,
for making cuts on metal materials.
Not designed for use with wood or stone cut-off wheels.
Safety instructions for all saws Cutting procedures
a) DANGER: Keep hands away from cutting area and the blade. Keep your second hand on auxiliary handle, or motor housing. If both hands are holding the saw, they cannot be cut by the blade.
b) Do not reach underneath the workpiece. The guard cannot protect you from the blade below the workpiece.
c) Adjust the cutting depth to the thickness of the workpiece. Less than a full tooth of the blade teeth should be visible below the workpiece.
d) Never hold the workpiece in your hands or across your leg while cutting. Secure the workpiece to a stable platform. It is important to support the work properly to minimise body exposure, blade binding, or loss of control.
e) Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a "live" wire will also make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock.
f) When ripping, always use a rip fence or straight edge guide. This improves the accuracy of cut and reduces the chance of blade binding.
g) Always use blades with correct size and shape (diamond versus round) of arbour holes. Blades that do not match the mounting hardware of the saw will run off-centre, causing loss of control.
h) Never use damaged or incorrect blade washers or bolt. The blade washers and bolt were specially designed for your saw, for optimum performance and safety of operation.
Further safety instructions for all saws
Kickback causes and related warnings
- kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, jammed or misaligned saw blade, causing an uncontrolled saw to lift up and out of the workpiece toward the operator;
when the blade is pinched or jammed tightly by the kerf closing down, the blade stalls and the motor reaction drives the unit rapidly back toward the operator; - if the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in the cut, the teeth at the back edge of the blade can dig into the top surface of the wood causing the blade to climb out of the kerf and jump back toward the operator.
Kickback is the result of saw misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below.
a) Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the saw and position your arms to resist kickback forces. Position your body to either side of the blade, but not in line with the blade. Kickback could cause the saw to jump backwards, but kickback forces can be controlled by the operator, if proper precautions are taken.
b) When blade is binding, or when interrupting a cut for any reason, release the trigger and hold the saw motionless in the material until the blade comes to a complete stop. Never attempt to remove the saw from the work or pull the saw backward while the blade is in motion or kickback may occur. Investigate and take corrective actions to eliminate the cause of blade binding.
c) When restarting a saw in the workpiece, centre the saw blade in the kerf so that the saw teeth are not engaged into the material. If a saw blade binds, it may walk up or kickback from the workpiece as the saw is restarted.
d) Support large panels to minimise the risk of blade pinching and kickback. Large panels tend to sag under their own weight. Supports must be placed under the panel on both sides, near the line of cut and near the edge of the panel.
e) Do not use dull or damaged blades. Unsharpened or improperly set blades produce narrow kerf causing excessive friction, blade binding and kickback.
f) Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking levers must be tight and secure before making the cut. If blade adjustment shifts while cutting, it may cause binding and kickback.
g) Use extra caution when sawing into existing walls or other blind areas. The protruding blade may cut objects that can cause kickback.
Safety instructions for saws with pendulum guard Lower guard function
a) Check the lower guard for proper closing before each use. Do not operate the saw if the lower guard does not move freely and close instantly. Never clamp or tie the lower guard into the open position. If the saw is accidentally dropped, the lower guard may be bent. Raise the lower guard with the retracting handle and make sure it moves freely and does not touch the blade or any other part, in all angles and depths of cut.
b) Check the operation of the lower guard spring. If the guard and the spring are not operating properly, they must be
serviced before use. Lower guard may operate sluggishly due to damaged parts, gummy deposits, or a build-up of debris.
c) The lower guard may be retracted manually only for special cuts such as "plunge cuts" and "compound cuts". Raise the lower guard by the retracting handle and as soon as the blade enters the material, the lower guard must be released. For all other sawing, the lower guard should operate automatically.
d) Always observe that the lower guard is covering the blade before placing the saw down on bench or floor. An
unprotected, coasting blade will cause the saw to walk backwards, cutting whatever is in its path. Be aware of the time it takes for the blade to stop after switch is released.
Noise and vibration
The noise and vibration values have been determined in accordance with EN 62841.
The A-weighted noise level of the power tool is typically:
Sound pressure level LpA 95 dB(A)
Sound power level LWA : 103 dB(A)
Uncertainty: K = 3 dB
Total vibration value:
Emission value a_h .. < 2.5m / s
Uncertainty: K = 1.5 m/s

CAUTION!
The indicated measurements refer to new power tools. Daily use causes the noise and vibration values to change.

NOTE
The vibration emission level given in this information sheet has been measured in accordance with a measurement method standardised in EN 62841 and may be used to compare one tool with another. that the declared vibration total value(s) and the declared noise emission value(s) have been measured in accordance with a standard test method and may be used for comparing one tool with another;
However, if the tool is used for different applications, with different cutting accessories or poorly maintained, the vibration emission level may differ.
This may significantly increase the exposure level over the total working period.
that the declared vibration total value(s) and the declared noise emission value(s) may also be used in a preliminary assessment of exposure.
This may significantly decrease the exposure level over the total working period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tool and the cutting accessories, keep the hands warm, organisation of work patterns.

WARNING!
- that the vibration and noise emissions during actual use of the power tool can differ from the declared values depending on the ways in which the tool is used especially what kind of workpiece is processed; and
of the need to identify safety measures to protect the operator that are based on an estimation of exposure in the actual conditions of use(taking account of all parts of the operating cycle such as the times when the tool is switched off and when it is running idle in addition to the trigger time).

CAUTION!
Wear ear defenders at a sound pressure above 85 dB(A).

Installing the blade
WARNING!
Use only 136-150 mm metal saw blades rated 4500/min (RPM) or greater. NEVER use a blade that is so thick that it prevents the outer blade washer from engaging with the flat side of the spindle. Using a blade not designed for the saw may result in serious personal injury and property damage.

WARNING!
Be sure to wear protective work gloves while handling a saw blade. The blade can injure unprotected hands.
Take the hex key (18) from its storage area.
Press the shaft-lock button (14) and use the hex key to turn blade bolt (8) until the shaft-lock button engages. Continue to depress the shaft-lock button (14), turn the blade bolt (8) counterclockwise and remove the blade bolt and the outer washer (7) (see figure C1).
Make sure that the saw teeth and the arrow on the blade point in the same direction as the arrow on the lower guard (9).
Retract the lower guard (9) all the way up into the upper guard.
- Slide the blade through the slot in the foot and mount it against the inner washer on the shaft.
- Reinstall the outer washer (7). First finger tighten the blade bolt (8) clockwise, then tighten it with the hex key (18) provided (see figure C2).
Chip box (see figure D1-D2)

WARNING!
Do not touch saw dust and the chip box with bare hands immediately after the operation. They may be extremely hot and could burn your skin.

WARNING!
Wear eye protection or goggle when emptying the chip box.
Saw dust is collected into the chip box. Observe the saw dust collection in the chip box through the transparent window (13).
Periodically dump the saw dust in the chip box before it gets full.
Push the buckle (12) up to open the chip box cover (11). Dump the saw dust while the tool faces downward.
Adjusting the cutting depth (see figure E)
Remove the battery.
Loosen the depth-adjustment lever (16).
Hold the base plate of the saw flat against the edge of the workpiece and then raise or lower the saw until the indicator mark on the depth scale (17) aligns with the desired depth mark.
- Securely tighten the depth-adjustment lever (16).
For the proper depth setting, the blade should extend about 3mm below the material being cut.
Rip fence (see figure F1-F2)
The rip fence (23) allows you to make accurate parallel cuts when sawing a workpiece.
Remove the battery.
- Slide the rip fence (23) into the rip fence slots at the front of the saw base.
Adjust the rip fence to the desired length of cut. Tighten the locking knob (20).
- Clamp and support the workpiece securely before making your cut.
- Place the rip fence firmly against the edge of the workpiece. Doing this will give you a true cut without pinching the blade.
- Be sure that the guiding edge of the workpiece is straight so you can get a straight cut.
Rafter hook (see figure G)
Use the rafter hook (15) to hang the saw from a rafter or beam or other similar secure structure for temporary storage during work. The rafter hook (15) can be rotated 90^ or 180^ .
To use, rotate the hook until it snaps into the open position.
When not in use, always push the hook to the closed position.

WARNING!
When the saw is hung by the hook, do not shake the saw or the object that it is hanging from. Do not hang the saw from any electrical wires. Make sure that the structure used to hang the saw is secure. Personal injury or property damage may occur.
Only use the hook for hanging the saw. Using the hook to hang anything else could lead to serious injury.
Do not use the hook to reach another object or use the hook to support your weight in any situation.
Track adaptor (see figure H1-H2)
The track adaptor (22) is used to adapt the track (not supplied) for accurate and straight-line cutting.
To attach the track adaptor
Remove the battery.
Snap the rear end of the base plate (6) into the two buckles (H-1) (see figure H1).
Press the front end of the base plate (6) into the front buckle (H-2) (see figure H2).
To detach the track adaptor
Pull the front buckle (H-2) outwards and remove the track adaptor (22).
Line guide (see figure I)
Use the cut notch in the base plate for guidance. The cut notch will indicate an approximate line of cut. Make sample cuts to verify the actual line of cut.
Sightings guide (see figure J)
The sight window (J-1) and two alignment marks (J-2, J-3) for two different saw blades (136 mm and 150 mm) in the foot make it easier to see the saw blade position when cutting at maximum depth, especially when the workpiece does not need to be cut-off. Line up the cut notch with your cutting line, start the saw and beginning cut. Observe the position of the saw blade through the sight window or marks, turn off the tool once it reaches the position where you want to stop cutting.
The window and marks on both sides of the saw blade make the right-handed or left-handed users to observe the saw blade position from different angles.
Hex key storage (see figure K)
When not in use, store the hex key as shown in the figure K to keep it from being lost.
Switching on and off (see figure L)
The tool is equipped with a lock-off button (3) to avoid unintentional starting.
To switch on, depress the lock-off button (3) and squeeze the trigger switch (2).
To switch off, release the trigger switch (2).

CAUTION!
Allow the blade to come to a complete standstill before setting the saw down.
LED light (see figure M)
The LED light (21) will automatically turn on with a slight squeeze of the trigger switch (2) before the tool starts running. It will turn off approximately 10 seconds after the trigger switch (2) is released.
When the tool and/or battery becomes overloaded or too hot, the LED light will rapidly flash. Rest the tool for a while or place the tool and battery separately under air flow for cooling.
The LED light will flash more slowly to indicate that the battery charge is at low capacity. Recharge the battery.
General cuts

WARNING!
Always be sure that neither hand interferes with the free movement of the lower guard.

WARNING!
Do not touch the circular saw blade, workpiece or cutting chips with bare hands immediately after cutting. They may be extremely hot and could burn your skin.

WARNING!
After completing a cut and releasing the trigger, be aware of the necessary time it takes for the blade to come to a complete stop during coast down. Do not allow the saw to brush against your leg or side; since the lower guard is retractable, it could catch on your clothing and expose the blade. Be aware of the necessary blade exposures that exist in both the upper and lower guard areas.
CAUTION!
Always clamp the workpiece securely on a bench. Ensure that the clamps do not interfere with the free movement of the saw.
Draw a cutting line. Place the front of the base plate (6) on the edge of the workpiece without making blade contact.
Hold the saw by the main handle (1) with one hand and the auxiliary handle (19) with the other. Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the saw and position your arms to resist kickback forces.
Line up the sight line with your cutting line.
Position your body to either side of the blade, but not in line with the blade.
Start the saw and beginning cut.
While cutting, keep the base plate (6) flat against the workpiece and maintain a firm grip. Do not force the saw through the workpiece.
If the saw binds and stalls, maintain a firm grip and release the trigger switch (2) immediately. Hold the saw motionless in the workpiece until the blade comes to a complete stop.
After finishing a cut, be sure the lower guard (9) closes and the blade comes to a complete stop before setting the saw down.
i NOTE
In order to prevent metal chip from flying out of the hollow profile, it is recommended to stick tape on the side of the profile (see figure N).
Cutting large sheets (see figure O)
Large sheets sag or bend if they are not correctly supported. If you attempt to cut without leveling and properly supporting the workpiece, the blade will tend to bind, causing KICKBACK and extra load on the
motor.
Support large sheets. Be sure to set the depth of the cut so that you cut through the workpiece, not through the supports.
Using the track (not supplied) (see figure P1-P2)
This saw is designed specifically for precision straight cutting while using a track for guidance.
Trim the rubber strip
First install the track adaptor (22) on the base plate of the metal circular saw.
- Place the track on the scrap material and use the track clamp to secure the track and scrap material to the support.
Put the saw onto the track with the narrow groove (P-1) on the track adaptor (22) fitting over the raised rib (P-3) on the track. Make sure the saw blade is close to the rubber strip (P-4).
Note: There are two grooves on the track adaptor (22), one wide and one narrow. The narrow groove (P-1) is suitable for FLEX track, and the wide groove (P-2) can be adapted to other tracks.
Check the front and back of the saw and ensure the saw glides along the track smoothly.
Start the saw and guide the saw in a forward direction along the track to trim the rubber strip. After the rubber strip is trimmed, it can be used to accurately indicate the blade cut line.
Release the trigger switch and allow the blade to come to a complete stop.
Cut with track
- Secure workpiece to a workbench.
- Place the track on the workpiece and position the rubber strip along your desired line of cut.
- Secure the track to the workpiece using the clamp.
- Place the saw on the track and make adjustments if needed.
After finishing cut, release the trigger switch and allow the blade to come to a complete stop before putting down.
