Alternating current/voltage Special instructions for safe operation: Never operate the product if there are people in the water. Risk of electric shock. Only connect the product to a socket with residual current device with a rated leakage current up to 30 mA; fuse at least 6 ampere.21 GB/IE If this product’s mains cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its cus- tomer services or a similarly qualified specialist to ensure dangerous situations do not arise. This product may be used by children aged 8 and over as well as persons with physical, sensory or mental impairments or lacking experience and knowledge if supervised or in- structed in the safe use of the product and if they understand the associated risks. Do not allow children to play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children unless supervised. Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the product. Effluence of lubricants may contaminate the liquid. Please note the additional instructions in chapter “Maintenance and cleaning”. General safety information This section addresses the basic safety instructions for using this product. Using the product: Caution: How to avoid accidents and injuries: This product may not be used by persons not familiar with the instructions for use. Local regu- lations may require the opera- tor to be of a minimum age. Wear sturdy shoes to protect against electric shock. Take suitable measures to keep children away from the product during operation. There is a risk of injury. Do not use the product near flammable liquids or gases. Failure to observe these in- structions poses a risk of fire or explosion. Pumping aggressive, abrasive, corrosive, flammable (e.g. en- gine fuels) or explosive liquids, saltwater, cleaning agents and foods is prohibited.22 GB/IE The temperature of the liquid being pump must not exceed 35 °C. Store the product in a dry location out of the reach of children. Caution! How to avoid product damage and potential subsequent personal injury: Do not use the product if dam- aged, incomplete or modified without approval of the manu- facturer. Prior to initial use, have a professional verify the required electrical protective measures are met. Monitor the product during operation to detect automatic shut-off or the pump running dry. Regularly check the func- tion of the float switch (see chapter “Initial use”). Failure to comply with this will void the warranty. The pump is not suitable for continuous operation (e.g. for streams in garden ponds). Regularly verify the product is operating properly. Please note, this product uses lubricants which may cause damage or contamination due to effluence. Do not use the pump in garden ponds stocked with fish or valuable plants. Do not carry or secure the product by the mains cable or hose. Protect the product from frost and running dry. Only use original accessories and do not modify the product. Please read the notes on “Maintenance and cleaning” and “Storage” in the instruc- tions for use. Any further meas- ures, particularly opening the product, must be carried out by an electrician. Always contact our service centre for repairs. Electrical safety: How to avoid accidents and injuries due to electric shock: When operating the product, the mains plug must be freely accessible after setup. Before using your new product for the first time, have a pro- fessional check: - the earthing, zeroing, leakage current switch, which must comply with the safety in-23 GB/IE structions of the electric utility company and function properly, - the protection of the electrical connections from moisture. If there is a risk of flooding, in- stall the connectors in an area safe from flooding. Risk of electric shock. Ensure the mains voltage matches the specifications in the type plate. Electrical installation must com- ply with national regulations. Check the product, mains con- nection and mains plug for damage before every use. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the man- ufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Do not use the mains cable to unplug the mains plug from the socket. Protect the mains cable from heat, oil and sharp edges. Do not carry or secure the product by the mains cable. Only use extension leads which are splashproof and suitable for outdoors. Always unwind the entire cable drum before use. Check the extension lead for damage. Unplug the mains plug from the socket before working on the product, if the water system is leaking, during work breaks and when not in use. The cross-section of extension hoses must not be smaller than rubber hose lines designated H05RN-F. The hose length must be 10 m. Extension leads must have a minimum wire cross-section of 2.5 mm. If the mains cable of this product is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service centre, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards. Initial use Connecting the adapter Screw the hose adapter
onto the pump discharge port
(see Fig. B). Connecting the pressure line The product is installed - either with a rigid pipe - or with a flexible hose. To use a ¾" or 1" hose, slip the hose over the hose adapter
(fasten with hose clamp).24 GB/IE To use a cock with internal thread G ¾" (19 mm) to connect external hose connec- tion systems, cut off the upper connections directly above the G ¾" (19 mm) pipe thread. Setting up/hanging the product Note: The product can be set or hung in water. Use the included fastening rope
to hang and/or pull out the product. The sump shaft should have a minimum size of 70 x 70 cm to ensure the float switch can move freely. Attach the fastening rope
(see Fig. E). ATTENTION! Never hold or hang the product by the mains cable. This poses a risk of electric shock due to a damaged mains cable. Please note that dirt and sand may collect at the bottom of the sump shaft over time. This can damage the product. We recommend setting the product on a brick or grate. If the water level is too low, the sludge in the shaft can quickly dry up and prevent the product from starting. Checks prior to initial use Check the function of the float switch (see “Operation”). Verify the product is set up stable or securely suspended. Verify the pressure line is attached properly. Verify the electrical socket is in proper con- dition and the fuse size is adequate (at least 6 A). Verify moisture or water can never come into contact with the mains connection. Risk of electric shock. Operation The product you have purchased is equipped with a Schuko plug. The product is intended to be connected to a 230 V
50 Hz Schuko socket with residual current device. Note: Do not operate the product until you have verified all of the above points are met. Switching the product on and off
1. Insert the mains plug into the mains socket.
The product will automatically start running when the float switch is in the correct position (see “Starting automatic operation” and “Manual operation/flat intake operation”).
2. To switch off the product, unplug the mains
plug from the socket. The product will stop. Note: If the water level is too low, the float switch
will automatically switch the product off. ATTENTION! Monitor the product during operation to detect automatic shut-off or the pump running dry, and to avoid damage. Starting automatic operation In automatic operation, the float switch
will automatically switch the product on or off. ATTENTION! In stationary installations, regularly check the function of the float switch
(at least every three months). The on/off point of the float switch
to adjust the on/off point. To adjust the cable length of the float switch cable
: It must be po- sitioned to ensure it can raise and lower freely. The switching point height “On” and the switch- ing point height “Off” must be easily accessible. Check this by placing the product in a con- tainer filled with water and carefully manually raising, then lowering the float switch
This allows you to determine if the product switches on/off. Also ensure the distance between the float switch
is not too small. If the distance is too small, proper function is not guaranteed. When making the adjustment, ensure the float switch
does not touch the bottom before switching the product off. Manual operation/ flat intake operation ATTENTION! Avoid the clear water sub- mersible pump running dry! Risk of overheat- ing! Never touch an overheated product! There is a risk of burns! In manual operation, the pump does not switch off automatically, as this bypasses the float switch
must be set in the upright position, pointing at the top of the pump. Pull on the float switch cable
and slide it into the float switch cable lock (vertical)
points at the top of the pump (Fig. D). ATTENTION! Continuously monitor the product in manual operation. Switch the product off immediately (unplug mains plug) if water is no longer being pumped. There is a risk of damage if the product runs dry. Maintenance and cleaning Clean and maintain your product regularly. ATTENTION! Have any work not de- scribed in these instructions for use per- formed by our service centre. Always use genuine parts. There is a risk of injury. Always unplug the mains plug before work- ing on the product. There is a risk of electric shock or risk of injuries due to moving parts. General cleaning Non-stationary products: Clean the product with clear water after every use. Stationary product: Regularly check the function of the float switch
(at least every three months). Use a water jet to remove any fuzz or fibre particles which may have built up on the pump housing
Clean any deposits on the float switch
with clear water. Routinely clean sludge from the bottom of the shaft (at least every 3 months) and the shaft walls. Dirt on the bottom of the pump can be sprayed off with clear water. Any further measures, particularly opening the product, must be carried out by an electrician. Always contact our service centre for repairs. Storing the product Clean the product before storing it away. Keep the product in a dry location, protected from frost and out of the reach of children. If the pump has not been used for an ex- tended period, it must be cleaned thoroughly after the last use and before using it again. Deposits and residue may otherwise cause problems starting.26 GB/IE Troubleshooting Problem Possible cause Solution Pump doesn't start. No power. Check the socket, mains cable, line, mains plug, and if necessary have repaired by an electrician. Pump doesn't move water. Intake screen on the bottom of the pump clogged. Clean the intake screen on the bottom of the pump with a water jet (see “General cleaning”). Reduced pump output due to heavily contaminated and abrasive water admixtures. Clean the pump. Pump won't switch off. Float switch can't lower. Set the pump up properly on the bottom of the shaft. Insufficient delivery rate. Intake screen on the bottom of the pump clogged. Clean the intake screen on the bottom of the pump with a water jet (see “General cleaning”). Reduced pump output due to heavily contaminated and abrasive water admixtures. Clean the pump. Pump switches off after a short time. Motor protection switches off the pump due to water being very dirty. Unplug from the mains, and clean the pump and shaft. Water temperature too high, motor protection switches off product. Do not exceed the maximum water temperature of 35°C! Disposal The packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials, which you may dispose of at local recycling facilities.
