How to sharpen an HSS drill bit with the POWX1350?

Use the specific module for drill bits. Insert the bit into the collet, tighten lightly, place it in the V-guide, then tighten. Lower the guide and move the collet laterally against the wheel. Repeat on the other side. Refer to the manual for details.

What types of knives can I sharpen?

This model sharpens all straight edge knives as well as scissors. Insert the blade into the appropriate guide groove and pull towards you while applying light pressure.

How to adjust the sharpening angle for chisels?

Loosen the angle adjustment knob, set the plate to the desired angle (between 15° and 50°), then tighten. Make sure the angle matches the existing bevel of the blade.

What is the power and speed of this sharpener?

The sharpener has a power of 96 W and a no-load speed of 1350 min⁻¹. It is designed for intermittent use (max 15 minutes continuously).

Is it safe to use this sharpener?

Yes, it is class II (double insulation) and does not require a grounded outlet. Wear safety glasses and keep flammable materials away. Do not touch the moving wheel.

How to maintain the sharpener?

1 INTENDED USE

Sharpens high speed steel drill bits, straight edged knives and scissors. Regrinds chisel and plane blades. Not suitable for professional use.

3 PACKAGE CONTENT LIST

• Remove all packing materials
• Remove remaining packaging and transit supports (if existing)
• Check the completeness of the packing content

5 GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS

Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow all warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains operated (cored) power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool.

5.1 Work area

• Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
• Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

5.2 Electrical safety

Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.

• Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
• Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
• Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
• Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
• When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
• If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

5.3 Personal safety

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

• Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used whenever conditions require will reduce personal injuries.

• Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

• Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust related hazards.

5.4 Power tool use and care

• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

• Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

• Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

• Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

• Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or sticking of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to stick and are easier to control.

• Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could lead to a hazardous situation.

5.5 Service

• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

6 SPECIFIC SAFETY WARNINGS

• Do not leave the grinding wheel unattended while it is operating.
  Grinding generates sparks, keep away all flammable substances and materials.
• Never touch the moving grinding wheel.
• The motor is specially rated for intermittent use, maximum 15 minutes continuous use.
• Do not attach modules when the grinding wheel is moving.
• Do not use the grinding wheel without a module in place
• Before removing a module, switch off the power unit and allow the grinding wheel to come to stop.

7 OPERATION

7.1 High speed steel drill sharpener ((Fig. 1)

Sharpens all high speed steel drill bits from 4-13mm
- Unique 'True Point' action ensures accurate finish
- Precisely locates high speed steel drills for correct sharpening angles.
- Re-sharpens broken drill bits

SHARPENINGHSSBIT(1a-1i)

1. Slide module 'high speed steel drill sharpener' onto the power unit
2. Remove the clamp from the clamp holder and insert the drill bit (1a)
3. Tighten the clamping ring slightly so the drill bit is still free to move.
4. Place the clamp containing the drill bit into the setting slot, using the grooves in the side to lower it in correctly (1b)
5. Move the drill bit forward up so it lays in the 'V' guide and touches the metal end stop (1c)
6. Turn the drill bit until the 'V' guide fully drops over it (1c)
7. All 4 drill bit corners should now be touching the 'V' guide sides.
8. With the drill bit in this position, tighten the clamping ring, so the drill bit can't move (1d)
9. Lift up the 'V guide and remove the clamp.
10. Transfer the clamp and drill bit into the clamp into the clamp holder on the Power Unit module. (1e)
11. Switch the Power Unit on
12. Move the clamp holder from side to side, securing with light finger pressure (1f)
13. Remove the drill bit and holder and turn over (1g)
14. Move the clamp holder from side to side, securing with light finger pressure (1f)
15. Check the leading edge of both flutes are equally sharp. They should meet exactly in the middle as in (1h) not (1i)
16. Switch the Power Unit off. Before removing the module, ensure the grinding wheel has stopped.

7.2 Knife and scissor sharpener (Fig. 2)

Sharpens all straight edged knives and scissors
- Unique top for sharpening knives
- Precisely angled slot for sharpening scissors

SHARPENING KNIVES (2a-2c)

1. Slide module 'knife and scissor sharpener' onto the power unit
2. Switch the Power Unit on
3. Hold the knife handle towards you and insert the blade into guide slot (2a)

4. As soon as the blade touches the grinding wheel, draw it with light steady pressure across the wheel. Do not press to hard (2b)

5. Insert the second side of the blade into the other guide slot (2c) and repeat #4

6. Repeat sharpening each side until a clean sharp edge is attained.
7. Switch the Power Unit off. Before removing the module, ensure that the grinding wheel has stopped.

SHARPENING SCISSORS (2d-2f)

1. Slide module 'knife and scissor sharpener' onto the power unit
2. Switch the Power Unit on
3. Open the scissors fully
4. Slide the first scissor blade through the front guide slot (2d). Keep the pivot of the scissors and other blade to the right side.
5. Draw the blade across the grinding wheel from pivot to tip. Use a light steady pressure, do not press too hard (2e)
6. Remove and turn the scissor over to sharpen the second blade (2f)
7. Repeat if necessary, until clean sharp edges are achieved.
8. Switch the Power Unit off. Before removing the module, ensure that the grinding wheel has stopped

7.3 Chisel and plane sharpener (Fig. 3)

• Regrinds chisel and plane blade up to 50mm wide
  Adjustable grinding angle from 15^ - 50^
• Powerful integral magnet to keep the blade secure
• Protective shield for added safety

SHARPENING BLADES (3a-3g)

1. Slide module 'chisel and plane sharpener' onto the power unit
2. Place the blade against the back lip of the plate (3a). The magnet helps hold in place.
3. The sharpening angle must match the existing beveled angle on the blade tip. Adjust if necessary.
4. To alter the angle, loosen the angle adjusting knob (3c), adjust the plate and then tighten the angle adjusting know.
5. Make sure the blade edge touches the grinding wheel, then switch the Power Unit on.
6. Slide the blade and plate with light steady pressure back and forth across the grinding wheel in a continuous motion (3d). Do not hold the blade stationary, this causes irregular sharpening.
7. Gradually adjust the blade down the plate while sharpening (3e). Do not press hard. Grind gradually. Repeat if necessary.
8. Remove the blade and make sure the beveled edge and tip are evenly sharp. If not, adjust the grinding angle. It is important that the sharpening angle matches the existing beveled angle of the blade. This avoids removing too much mental unnecessarily and keeps plane blades at their optimum shaving angle (3f)
9. When sharpening thin chisel blades, place the small chisel guide onto the plate to act as a spacer and sharpen as before (3g)
10. Switch the Power Unit off. Before removing the module, ensure that the grinding wheel has stopped
11. Recommend that after grinding, the blade tip is honed on an oil stone.

8 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Attention! Before performing any work on the equipment, pull the power plug.

8.1 Cleaning

• Keep the ventilation slots of the machine clean to prevent overheating of the engine.
  Regularly clean the machine housing with a soft cloth, preferably after each use.
• Keep the ventilation slots free from dust and dirt.
• If the dirt does not come off use a soft cloth moistened with soapy water.

Never use solvents such as petrol, alcohol, ammonia water, etc. These solvents may damage the plastic parts.

11 SERVICE DEPARTMENT

• Damaged switches must be replaced by our after-sales service department.
• If the connecting cable (or mains plug) is damaged, it must be replaced by a particular connecting cable which is available from our service department. Replacement of the connecting cable must only be carried out by our service department (see last page) or by a qualified person (qualified electrician).

12 STORAGE

Thoroughly clean the whole machine and its accessories.
- Store it out of the reach of children, in a stable and secure position, in a cool and dry place, avoid too high and too low temperatures.
- Protect it from exposure to direct sunlight. Keep it in the dark, if possible.
- Don't keep it in plastic bags to avoid humidity build-up.

13 WARRANTY

This product is warranted for a 36-month period effective from the date of purchase by the first user.
- This warranty covers all material or production flaws excluding : batteries, chargers, defective parts subject to normal wear & tear such as bearings, brushes, cables, and plugs, or accessories such as drills, drill bits, saw blades, etc. ; damage or defects resulting from maltreatment, accidents or alterations; nor the cost of transportation.
- Damage and/or defects resulting from inappropriate use also do not fall under the warranty provisions.
We also disclaim all liability for any bodily injury resulting from inappropriate use of the tool.
- Repairs may only be carried out by an authorised customer service centre for Powerplus tools.
- You can always obtain more information at the number 00 32 3 292 92 90.
- Any transportation costs shall always be borne by the customer, unless agreed otherwise in writing.
- At the same time, no claim can be made on the warranty if the damage of the device is the result of negligent maintenance or overload.
- Definitely excluded from the warranty is damage resulting from fluid permeation, excessive dust penetration, intentional damage (on purpose or by gross carelessness), inappropriate usage (use for purposes for which the device is not suitable), incompetent usage (e.g. not following the instructions given in the manual), inexpert assembly, lightning strike, erroneous net voltage. This list is not exhaustive.
- Acceptance of claims under warranty can never lead to the prolongation of the warranty period nor commencement of a new warranty period in case of a device replacement.
Devices or parts which are replaced under the warranty therefore remain the property of Varo NV.
- We reserve the right to reject a claim whenever the purchase cannot be verified or when it is clear that the product has not been properly maintained. (Clean ventilation slots, carbon brushes serviced regularly, etc.).
- Your purchase receipt must be kept as proof of date of purchase.
- Your appliance must be returned undismantled to your dealer in an acceptably clean state, (in its original blow-moulded case if applicable to the unit), accompanied by proof of purchase.

14 ENVIRONMENT

Should your appliance need replacement after extended use, do not discard it with the household rubbish but dispose of it in an environmentally safe way. Waste produced by electrical machine items should not be handled like normal household rubbish. Please recycle where recycle facilities exist. Check with your Local Authority or retailer for recycling advice.

5. Beveg boret fremover sik at det ligger i V-forgen og berorer metallstopperen (1c).

7. Alle de 4 hjørnene av boret skal nà være i kontakt med sider på V-føringen.
8. Med boret i donne stillingen, strammer du til klemmeringen sik at boret seks kan beveges (1d).
9. Loft opp V-foringen og fjern klemmen.
10. Overfor klemmen med boret til klemmeholderen pa maskinen (1e).
11. Slå pa maskinen.

1 NAMENJENA UPOTREBA

Ostri burgije od brzoreznog celika, nozeve i makaze sa ravnim ivicama. Ponomno bruši ostrice dleta i nozeve za renda. Nije pogodno za profesionalnu upotrebu.

UPOZORENJE! Pazljivo procitajte i upoznajte se sa ovim uputstvom za upotrebu preNgu sto upotrebite ovaj alat i sačuvajte ga za ubuduć. U slućaju prenošenja vlasništa na drugog korisnika, uz elektrčni alat obavezno prilozite ova uputstva.

3 LISTASADRZAJAPAKETA

• Uklonite svu ambalažu
• Uklonite preostalu ambalažu, kao i transportnu zašitu (ukoliko je ima)
  Proverite da li je sadrzaj pakovanja potpun.
  Proverite da li na aparatu, napojnom kablu, utikaču i pomocnom priboru ima oštecenja usled transporte
• Sačuvajte ambalažu što duže tokom garantnog roka. Posle je odložite na mesno odlagaliste za otpad

6 POSEBNA BEZBEDNOSNA UPUTSTVA

Ne ostavlajte brusni tocak bez nadzora dok je u radu.
Brusenje generise varnice, drzite na odstojanju od svih zapaljivih supstanci i materijala.
Nikada nemojte doditivati brusni točak koji je uPokretu.
- Motor je posebno predvden za isprekidanu upotrebu, za neprekidnu upotrebu od maksimalno 15 minuta.
- Nikada nemojte priključivati module dok je brusni točak uPokretu.
Nemojte koristiti brusni tocak ukoliko modul nije na svom mesti.
- Pre uklanjanja modula, iskljucite elektricni uredj a sacekajte da se brusni tocak zaustavi.

7 RUKOVANJE

7.1 Ostrac burgija od brzoreznog celika (Fig. 1)

Ostri sve burgije od brzoreznog celika od 4 do 13 mm.

Posebna fungcija 'Tačan vrh' ('True Point') osigurava preciznu završnu obradu.
- Precizno fiksira burgije od brzoreznog celika da bi se postigli pravilni uglovi ostrenja.
- Ponovo oštri polomljene burgije.

OSTRENJE BURGIJA OD BRZOREZNOG CELIKA (1a-1i)

1. Skliznite modul 'ostac za burgije od brzoreznog celika' na elektrichi uredaj.
2. Uklonite stezač sa držača stezača i umetnite burgiju (1a).
3. Blago pritegnite stezni prsten takdo burgija i dalje moze da se slobodno pomera.
4. Postavite stezač sa burgijom u prorez za postavljanje pri tome koristećiŽlebove na strani da biste ga pravilno spustili unutra (1b).
5. Pomerite burgiju unapred na gore takao da legne u vodicu V-oblika i dodiruje metalni krajnji granicnik (1c).
6. Okrecite burgiju sve dok vodica V-oblika potpuno ne padne preko nje (1c).
7. Sva Četiri ugla burgije bi sada trebalo da dodiruju strane vodice V-oblika.
8. Dok je burgija u ovom položaju, pritegnite stezni prsten takdo se burgija ne moze pomerati (1d).
9. Podignite na gore vodicu V-obika i skinite stezač.
10. Prenesite stezač i burgiju u držač stezača na modulu elektricnog uredaja (1e).
11. Ukljucite u rad elektrichi ni uredj.
12. Pomerajte držač stezača sa jeder strane na drugu pričvrsćujuci ga blagim pritiskom prsta (1f).
13. Skinite burgiju i drzači obrnite ga (1g).
14. Pomerajte držač stezača sa jeder strane na drugu pričvṛśćujuci ga blagim pritiskom prsta (1f).
15. Proverite da li su vodece ivice obe spirale burgije podjednako ostre. Treba da sesusretnu tačno na sredini kao na sl. (1h) a ne kao na sl. (1i).
16. Iskljucite elektrichi uredaj. Pre nego sto skinete modul, uverite se da se brusni tocak zaustavio.

7.2 Ostrac nozeva i makaza (Fig. 2)

Ostri sve nozeve i makaze sa pravim ivicama.
- Posebna povrsina za oštrené noževa.
- Prorez pod preciznim uglom za oštrenje makaza.

OSTRENJE NOZEVA (2a-2c)

1. Skliznite modul 'ošrač noževa i makaza' na elektrčni urežaj.
2. Ukljucite ur rad elektrichi urejad.
3. Držite dršku noža prema sebi i umetnite sečivo u vodeci prorez (2a).

4. Cim secivo dodirne brusni tocak, vucite ga uz blagi ravnomerni pritisak po tocku. Nemojte prejako pritiskati (2b)

5. Umetnite drugu stranu seciva u drugi vodeci prorez (2c) i ponovite postupak opisan u tacki 4.

6. Ponavljaje ostrenje svake strane sve dok se ne dobije cista ostra ivica.
7. Iskljucite elektricni uredaj Pre nego sto skeinite modul, uverite se da se brusni tocak zaustavio.

OSTRENJE MAKAZA (2d-2f)

1. Skliznite modul 'oštrac noževa i makaza' na elektrčni uredaj.
2. Ukliucite u rad elektrichi uredai.
3. Potpouno otvorite makaze.
4. Skliznite prvo secivo makaza kroz prednji vodeci prorez (2d). Drzite zglob makaza i drugo secivo na desnoj strani.
5. Vucite secivo po brusnom tocku od zgloba do vrha. Primenite blagi ravnomerni pritisak, nemoje prejako pritiskati (2e).
6. Izvadite i obrnite makaze kako biste nostrili drugo secivo (2f).
7. Ponavljaite postupak po potrebi sve dok se ne dobiju chiste ostre ivice.
8. Iskljucite elektricni uredaj Pre nego sto skeite modul, uverite se da se brusni tocak zaustavio.

7.3 Ostrac dleta i nozeva za renda (Fig. 3)

• Ponovno brusi ostrice dleta i nozeve za renda sirine do 50mm.
• Podesivi ugao brusenia od 15^ - 50^
  Snažni ugradeni magnet za pričvršćivanje sečiva.
  Stitnik za dodatnu bezbednost.

OSTRENJE SEČIVA

1. Skliznite modul 'oštrac dleta i noževa za renda' na elektrčni uredal.
2. Postavite secivo uz zadnju ivicu ploce (3a). Magnet pomaje da se secivo drzi na mestu
3. Ugao ostrenja mora da bude isti kao postojeci zakošeni ugao na vrhu sečiva. Podesite ukolko je to potrebno.
4. Da biste promenili ugao, popustite dugme za podesavanje ugla (3c), podesite plocu a zatim pritegnite dugme za podesavanie ugla.
5. Osiguraje da ivica seciva dodiruje brusni tocak i zatim ukliucite elektrichi n uredaj.
6. Klizajte secivo i plocu blagim ravnomernim pritiskom napred i nazad po brusnom tocku neprekidnim kretanjem (3d). Nemojte drzati secivo u mestu, to izaziva nepravino ostrenie.
7. Postepeno podesavajte secivo niz plocu tokom ostrenja (3e). Nemojte jako pritiskati. Brušite postepeno. Ponovite ukolko je to potrebno.
8. Izvadite secivo i proverite da li su zakošena ivica i vrh podjednako ostri. Ukoliki nisu, podesite ugao bruşenja. Važno je da ugao oštrenja odgovara postojćem uglu zakošenja sečiva. Ovime se izbegava da se bespotrebno ukloni previše metala i da se sečiva renda održavaju pod nijhovim optimalnim uglom rendisanja (3f).
9. Kada oštrite tanka sečiva dleta, postavite mali grančnik za dleta na ploču koji ce funkcionisati kao distancer i oštrite na isti način kao i pre (3q).
10. Iskljucite elektricni uredaj. Pre nego sto skine modul, uverite se da se brusni tocak zaustavio.
11. Preporucje se da se se posle brusenja vrh seciva fino obradi (honuje) na finom brusnom kamenu sa uljem.
