WARNING

An electric shock can result in death or serious personal injury, and also functional damage to objects (e.g. damage to the instrument).

WARNING
Never point the laser beam towards the eyes directly or indirectly, via reflective surfaces. Laser radiation can cause irreparable damage to the eyes. The laser beam must be deactivated when measuring close to people.
General safety notes

WARNING
Unauthorised modification and/or changes to the instrument are not permitted, for reasons of safety and approval (CE). In order to ensure safe and reliable operation using the instrument, you must always observe the safety instructions, warnings and the information contained in the section "Intended use".

WARNING
Please observe the following information before using the instrument:
Do not operate the instrument anywhere near electrical welders, induction heaters or other electromagnetic fields.
Further to abrupt temperature fluctuation, the instrument must be allowed to adjust to the new ambient temperature for approx. 30 minutes before using it, in order to stabilise the IR sensor.
Do not expose the instrument to high temperatures for a long period of time.
Avoid dusty and humid environments.
Measuring instruments and their accessories are not toys, and must be kept out of the reach of children!
In industrial facilities, the accident prevention regulations for electrical systems and equipment, established by the employer's liability insurance association, must be observed.
Intended use
The instrument is intended strictly for use in applications described in the operating instructions. Any other usage is considered improper and forbidden, and can result in accidents or the destruction of the instrument. Any such application will result in the immediate expiry of all guarantee and warranty claims on the part of the operator against the manufacturer.

Remove the batteries if the instrument is not in use for a long period of time, in order to protect the instrument from damage.

We assume no liability for damages to property or personal injury caused by improper handling or failure to observe the safety instructions. Any warranty claim expires in such cases. An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates safety notices in the operating instructions. Read the instructions completely before beginning the initial commissioning. This instrument is CE-approved and thus fulfils the required guidelines.

Dear Testboy customer: purchasing our product gives you the option of returning the instrument to suitable collection points for waste electrical equipment at the end of its lifespan.

The WEEE directive regulates the return and recycling of electrical appliances. Manufacturers of electrical appliances are obliged to take back and recycle all electrical appliances free of charge. Electrical devices may then no longer be disposed of through conventional waste disposal channels. Electrical appliances must be recycled and disposed of separately. All equipment subject to this directive is marked with this logo.
Disposal of used batteries

As an end user, you are legally obliged (battery law) to return all used batteries; disposal with normal domestic waste is prohibited!
Batteries containing contaminant material are labelled with adjacent symbols indicating the prohibition of disposal with normal domestic waste.
The abbreviations used for the respective heavy metals are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead.
You can return your used batteries free of charge to collection points in your community or anywhere where batteries are sold!

The Testboy® TV 323 has been constructed in accordance with the present state-of-the-art technology. The instrument conforms to the actual standard and the requirements of the applicable European and national directives.

The Testboy® TV 323 is a measurement instrument for temperature measurement without contact.
Operation
The intended use includes measurement of temperatures of -50 to +550^ without contact. Only 1.5 V microbatteries, Type LR03, AAA or similar types.
Product description
Temperature measurement without contact is ideally suitable for rotating or live parts etc., because conventional contact temperature measurement of such parts is not possible. The instrument is distinguished by a quick response time and high temperature measurement range in a robust and practical pistol housing. The function Data-Hold enables temporary saving of the measurement value. Furthermore, the instrument has a Min-/Max, a laser that can be switched, incl. background lighting.

Maintenance and cleaning

To prevent electric shocks, do not allow moisture to ingress the housing.
Use a dry cloth, without cleaning agent, to clean the housing at regular intervals. Do not use any abrasive or scouring agents, or solvents.
- Blast loose particles of contamination from the IR lens. Use a fine lens brush to remove remaining contamination.
Safety

When opening the instrument, remember that some internal condensers retain voltage potential that is dangerous to life after being switched off.
If faults or unusual events occur, decommission the instrument and make sure that it can no longer be used until after it has been checked.
Replacing the battery
If the instrument is not used for a longer period of time, remove the batteries and keep the instrument in an environment that is not moist or too hot.
Do not leave any used batteries in the measurement instrument, because even batteries protected against discharge can corrode and, thus, release chemicals that could damage your health and destroy the instrument.
Procedure
If the operating voltage of the battery is insufficient, the battery symbol appears on the LCD display; the battery must then be replaced.
For operation, the Testboy ^品 TV 323 requires 2× Micro, LR03, AAA or similar types.
| Open the battery compartment by folding away the battery compartment cover from the handle.
Replace the batteries of the similar type, pay attention to the polarity, fold down the battery compartment cover on the handle.


Batteries must not be disposed of with normal domestic waste. There will be a collection point near you!
Explanation of buttons
Buttons
The buttons "Laser", ^ C / F and "Background lig." are for activating the functions such as the laser point, background lighting and selection between ^ C and ^ F .
MODE button
By pressing the button MODE, switching between the maximum and minimum value indication is carried out on the small display.

Button for temperature measurement
Using this button, the temperature measurement is activated.
When the laser point is activated, symbol on the display, this is also activated by this and indicates the centre of the measurement area.

Temperature measurement
For measuring temperatures, align the aperture of the IR sensor to the object to be measured and press the button for temperature measurement. Make sure that the size of the area to measure is not greater than the measurement object. The actual temperature value determined is displayed on the LCD display. To localize the hottest locations of an object, the Testboy® TV 323 is pointed at a point outside of the area required and, with the button held for temperature measurement, the hottest location is "searched for" with a "zigzag" motion.
After the button for temperature measurement is released, the temperature value determined is indicated for approx. 10 seconds.
During this time, "HOLD" is displayed. After the 10 seconds, the instrument automatically switches off in order to save the batteries.
Select the required unit (^ / ^) for indication. With the laser switch on, the laser point marks the approximate centre of the measurement area.
Thereby, it is easier to make accurate measurements.
Functions
MODE button
By pressing the button MODE, switching can be carried out between the different measurement functions:

Target laser
With the laser switched on, the laser point points to the approximate centre of the measurement area. This makes it easier to make exact measurements. To activate the laser, with the instrument switched on, press the "Laser symbol button" until the laser symbol appears on the LCD display. If the temperature measurement button is now pressed, the laser beam now indicates the approximate centre of the measurement surface. For deactivation, with the instrument switched on, press the "Laser symbol button" until the laser symbol goes off.
Size of measurement area - distance to Spot Ration (D/S)
In order to attain more accurate measurement results, the measurement object must be greater that the measurement area of the infrared thermometer. The temperature determined is the average temperature of the area measured. The smaller the measurement object, the shorter the distance must be to the infrared thermometer. For the exact size of the measurement surface, refer to the following diagram. This is also stamped on the instrument.

For accurate measurements, the measurement object should be a minimum of double so large as the measurement surface!

i.e. at a distance of 100cm , the measurement area is approx. 8.5cm in size.
°C/°F switching
Using the ^ C / F button, the temperature display can be switched between ^ C and ^ F .
Emissivity
The instrument is set to emissivity of 0.95!
The emissivity is a value that is used to specify the energy radiation characteristics of a material. The greater the value, the greater the capability of the material to transmit radiation. Many organic materials and surfaces have an emissivity of approx. 0.95. Metallic surfaces or shiny materials have a low emissivity. More accurate measurement values can be obtained if the measurement location is masked using black paint or adhesive tape. Measurements cannot be carried out through transparent surfaces, e.g. glass. Instead, the temperature of the surfaces of the glass area is measured.
