USER MANUAL HeatUp 25 OASE
- This unit can be used by children aged 8 and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental ca- pabilities or lack of ex- perience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed on how to use the unit in a safe way and they under- stand the hazards in- volved.
- Do not allow children to play with the unit.
- Only allow children to carry out cleaning and- EN -
- Switch off all units in the aquarium or dis- connect the power plugs of all units before reaching into the wa- ter. SAFETY INFORMATION
- Never operate the unit if either the electrical cables or the housing are defective!
- Do not carry or pull the unit by its electrical cable.
- Route cables/hoses such that they are pro- tected from damage and do not present a tripping hazard.
- Only open the unit housing or its attendant components, when this is explicitly required in the operating instructions.
- Only carry out work on the unit that is de- scribed in this manual. If problems cannot be overcome, please contact an authorised cus- tomer service point or, when in doubt, the manufacturer.
- Only use original spare parts and accessories for the unit.
- Never carry out technical modifications to the unit.
- Power connection cables cannot be replaced. If a cable is damaged, dispose of the respec- tive unit or components.
- Only connect the unit if the electrical data of the unit and the power supply coincide. The unit data is to be found on the unit type plate, on the packaging or in this manual.
- Protect the plug connections from moisture.

NOTE Indicates information intended to give the user a better understanding. Additional information A Reference to a figure, e.g. Fig. A. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Intended use HeatUp 25/50/75/100/150/200/250/300, re- ferred to in the following as "unit", may only be used as specified in the following:
- As a thermostat controlled aquarium heater.
- Operation under observance of the technical data. The following restrictions apply to the unit:
- Only use indoors and for aquaristic purposes in the home (not for commercial use).
- Only operate with water at a water tempera- ture of +4 °C to +35 °C.
- Do not switch the unit on until it is immersed in water.
- The unit can be completely immersed in wa- ter.
- Ensure that the unit is immersed in water at least up to the minimum immersion depth marking.
NOTE The desired water temperature can only be achieved if the heating capacity of the heater is suitable for the volume of water in the aquar- ium (→ Technical data) and is positioned in an area with good water circulation. How to proceed: B, C, D
- Turn the temperature controller to the de- sired temperature value.
- Insert the supplied suction cups into the holder by twisting. – Pay attention to the alignment of the tab (it should point upwards or to the side).
- Position the unit with the heating element pointing towards the floor of the aquarium on a clean, smooth surface in an area with good water circulation. COMMISSIONING/START-UP CAUTION Risk of injury from hot surface! Risk of burning parts of the body or risk of fire.
- Disconnect the heater from the mains and al- low it to cool down before commencing any work. NOTE For the use of the heater in a filter approved for this purpose: Danger of fire! The heater and filter can be de- stroyed by the heat generated at the surface.
- Do not switch the heater on until the filter is completely filled with water, switched on and the water is continuously circulated. NOTE For use in an aquarium:
- Before switching on, ensure that the heater is immersed in water at least up to the marking for the minimum immersion depth. NOTE
- Switch off the heater and allow it to cool down before removing it from the water.
- Do not leave the heater unattended after re- moving it from the water.
- Wait approx. 30 minutes before switching on so that the thermostat can adjust to the tem- perature of the water.
- Route the power connection cable such that it forms a drip loop!
- Switching on: Connect the unit to the mains. The unit switches on immediately.
- Switching off: Disconnect the unit from the mains.- EN -
Checking the temperature values NOTE The heater switches on and off automatically in order to maintain the set temperature. A light in the glass bulb indicates that the heater is functioning. The light and heater are switched off when the set temperature is reached. How to proceed:
- When the unit has been operating for about one day, check the water temperature with a precision thermometer.
- The measured temperature is lower than the set temperature: Check the water flow around the unit and, if necessary, move the unit to a different position where the water circulation is not obstructed by e.g. plants
- Measure the temperature again after some time.
- The temperature difference is still too great: Calibrate the unit. (-> Calibrating the unit)
- The measured temperature is higher than the set temperature: Calibrate the unit. (-> Calibrating the unit)
Calibrating the unit
- Calibration range: It is possible to calibrate the unit by plus 3°C and minus 3 °C.
- The calibration controller protrudes out of the different-coloured temperature control- ler. There are 3 fixed positions in the plus and minus range. Each position corresponds to approx. 1 degree centigrade. NOTE Do not attempt to go outside the calibration range. How to proceed:
- Use a screwdriver for the calibration or break the supplied tool out of the holder.
- Measured temperature is too high: Keep the temperature controller at the set value and move the calibration controller in the direc- tion of - (minus).
- Measured temperature is too low: Keep the temperature controller at the set value and move the calibration controller in the direc- tion of + (plus).- EN -
Malfunction Cause Remedy The water does not heat up. No mains voltage Check the mains voltage. Unit defective Replace unit Water does not reach the set temperature.
Insufficient water circulation Check the temperature. Unit is not calibrated. Calibrate the unit. The heating capacity of the unit is not sufficient with regards to the ambient temperature or water vol- ume to be heated up. Select a suitable unit.
CLEANING If necessary, clean the unit with clear water using a soft sponge or cloth.
- Do not not use cleaning agents or chemical solutions. WEAR PARTS The following components are wear parts and are excluded from the warranty:
- Suction cup DISPOSAL NOTE Do not dispose of this unit with domestic waste.
- Render the unit unusable beforehand by cut- ting the cables and dispose of the unit via the return system provided for this purpose. GUARANTEE For this OASE unit purchased by you, OASE GmbH assumes a 36 month manufacturer's guarantee in accordance with the guarantee conditions laid down in the following. The guar- antee period starts with the first purchase from an OASE specialist dealer. In other words, in the event of a resale, the guarantee period will not start again. If services are provided under the- EN -
terms of this guarantee, this does not lead to ex- tension or renewal of the guarantee period. Your legal rights as a purchaser, especially those ensu- ing from the warranty, persist. They are not re- stricted by this guarantee. Guarantee conditions OASE GmbH guarantees impeccable, purpose- related properties and workmanship, expert as- sembly and proper functionality. Subject to our discretion, the guarantee refers to free-of- charge repair or free-of-charge supply of spare parts or of a replacement unit respectively. Should the unit type concerned no longer be manufactured, we reserve the right, at our dis- cretion, to supply a replacement unit from our range that is closest to the type subject to com- plaint. Claims, the origin of which can be traced back to installation and operating faults as well as lack of care, e.g. the use of unsuitable cleaning materials or negligent maintenance, use other than that intended, damage due to accidents, falls, impact, effect of frost, cutting plugs, short- ening cables, calcium deposits or improper at- tempts to repair the unit, are not covered by our guarantee. We hereby refer to the proper use as specified in the instructions of use that form an integral part of the guarantee. Wear parts such as bulbs etc. are exempted from the guarantee. The refund of costs for removal and installation, checks, claims for lost profit and damages are ex- empted from the guarantee together with fur- ther reaching claims for damages and loss of whatever nature caused by the unit or its use. The guarantee is only valid in the country in which the unit was purchased from an OASE dealer. This guarantee is governed by German law under the exclusion of the agreement of the United Nations covering contracts governing the international sale of goods (CISG) regulations. Guarantee claims can only be brought forward by presenting the sales receipt to us, OASE GmbH, Tecklenburger Straße 161 in D-48477 Hörstel, Germany by returning to us the unit or part of the unit subject to complaint, freight free, at your own risk, accompanied by a copy of the original purchase receipt from the OASE special- ist dealer, this guarantee document and written information of the fault encountered.- FR -
