MAKITA DCF300 - WARNING - 1

WARNING

  • Do not use any attachments or accessories not recommended by the manufacturer of this tool. The use of attachments or accessories not recommended can result in serious personal injury.

This fan is equipped with a 3-speed control using the speed switch; you can also set run time for 1 hour, 2 hours, or 4 hours. Power supply can be with AC adaptor or battery cartridge (Optional accessory).

USING AC ADAPTOR (Fig. B & C)

Insert the 12V DC plug (14 in Fig. C) of AC adaptor into the 12V DC socket (12 in Fig. B), and then plug the AC pins (15 in Fig. C) into a main power supply. Make sure that the voltage rating of the main power supply corresponds with that of the adaptor.

To operate the cordless fan, first you need push the power switch button (8 in Fig. A-1) to turn on the fan, now the fan starts to work on high speed mode if you want to change to middle or low speed mode, push the speed change button (4 in Fig. A-1) and the speed indicator will show on middle or low speed mode.

Push the power switch button (8 in Fig. A-1) to turn off the unit after you finish using, then unplugged the AC adaptor from the main power supply, and allow the cordless fan to cool completely before performing any inspection, maintenance, cleaning procedures or storage.

OSCILLATING CONTROL

The oscillating control switch (9 in Fig. A-1) is used to choose oscillation or stationary mode. Press the switch down for oscillation and press it again for stationary.

The oscillating angle is as shown in Fig. D.

HEAD ADJUSTMENT

To adjust the direction of the fan, hold the front of the fan head with both hands, and gently push it to the desired position.

The angle is adjustable by every 15 degrees between the range illustrated in Fig. E.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

FOR BATTERY CARTRIDGE

  1. Before using battery cartridge, read all instructions and cautionary markings on (1) battery charger, (2) battery, and (3) product using battery.
  2. Do not disassemble battery cartridge.
  3. If operating time has become excessively shorter, stop operating immediately. It may result in a risk of overheating, possible burns or even an explosion.
  4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse them out with clear water and seek medical attention right away. It may result in loss of your eyesight.
  5. Do not shorten the battery cartridge:

(1) Do not touch the terminals with any conductive material.
(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a container with other metal objects such as nails, coins, etc.
(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to water or rain.

A battery short can cause a large current flow, overheating, possible burns and even a breakdown.

  1. Do not store the tool and battery cartridge in locations where the temperature may reach or exceed 50^ (122^) .
  2. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn out. The battery cartridge can explode in a fire.
  3. Be careful not to drop or strike battery.
  4. Do not use a damaged battery.
  5. Follow your local regulations relating to disposal of battery.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

MAKITA DCF300 - SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. - 1

CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries.

Use of non-genuine Makita batteries, or batteries that have been altered, may result in the battery bursting causing fires, personal injury and damage. It will also void the Makita warranty for the Makita tool and charger.

Tips for maintaining maximum battery life:

  1. Charge the battery cartridge before completely discharged. Always stop tool operation and charge the battery cartridge when you notice less tool power.

  2. Never recharge a fully charged battery cartridge. Overcharging shortens the battery service life.

  3. Charge the battery cartridge with room temperature at 10^ - 40^ (50^ - 104^) . Let a hot battery cartridge cool down before charging it.
  4. Charge the battery cartridge if you do not use it for a long period (more than six months).

Installing or removing of battery cartridge (Fig. F & G)

Always switch off the tool before installing or removing of the battery cartridge.

To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the tool while sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.

To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip it into place. Always insert it all the way until it locks in place with a little click. If you can see the red part on the upper side of the button, it is not locked completely. Install it fully until the red part can not be seen. If not, it may accidentally fall out of the tool, causing injury to you or someone around you.

Do not use force when installing the battery cartridge. If the cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being inserted correctly.

To operate the cordless fan using battery cartridge, please refer to the instruction of battery charger.

Indicating the remaining battery capacity (Fig. H)

(Only for battery cartridges with "B" at the end of the model number.)

Press the check button on the battery cartridge to indicate the remaining battery capacity. The indicator lamps light up for few seconds.

Indicator lampsRemaining capacity
Lighted Off Blinking
75% to 100%
50% to 75%
25% to 50%
0% to 25%
Charge the battery.
The battery may have malfunctioned.

NOTE:

  • Depending on the conditions of use and the ambient temperature, the indication may differ slightly from the actual capacity.

Timer setting

The cordless fan can set a run time for 1 hour, 2 hours, or 4 hours by the timer switch (5 in Fig. A-1). The number underneath the LED shows the remaining hour for turn off.

NOTE:

  • The cordless fan may run less time than the time you set when you use the battery cartridge.

In order to prolong the battery life, the cordless fan has automatic stop output function. If the battery capacity is not enough, the fan will stop working; this is because of the cordless fan's self-protect function, rather than breakdown. Then you need to take out the battery and charge it.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING

  • When servicing, ask Makita authorized service centers and with only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage.

WARNING

  • To avoid serious personal injury, always remove the AC adaptor or battery cartridge from the unit when cleaning or performing any maintenance.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. After the portable fan cooled, use clean clothes to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease etc.

MAKITA DCF300 - GENERAL MAINTENANCE - 1

WARNING

  • Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils etc., contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
  • All parts should be replaced at an Authorized Service Center.

STORAGE

To prevent fire or burning, allow the oscillating fan to cool down completely before you store it. Do not store the discharged battery for long periods, as it can shorten its service life.
