14] English earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. > Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded sur- faces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerat- rs. There is an increased risk of electric shock i your body is earthed or grounded. > Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of elec- tric shock. > Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carry- ing, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. > When operating a power tool outdoors, use an exten- sion cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suit- able for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock > Ioperating a power tool in a damp location is un- avoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protec- ted supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock. Personal safety > Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inatten tion while operating power tools may result in serious per- sonal injury. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal in juries. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or en- ergising power tools that have the switch on invites acci dents. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. Awrench or a key leftattached to à rotating part of the power tool may result in personal in- jury. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at alltimes. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewr- ellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. If devices are provided for the connection of dust ex- traction and collection facilities, ensure these are con- nected and properly used. Use of dust collection can re- duce dust-related hazards. Do notlet familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool
safety principles. À careless action can cause severe in- jury within a fraction of a second. Power tool use and care > Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was de- signed. Do not use the power tool ifthe switch does notturn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or re- move the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing ac- cessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power too! accidentally. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for mis- alignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly main- tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into ac- count the working conditions and the work to be per- formed. Use of the pourer tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations. Battery tool use and care > Recharge only with the charger specified by the manu- facturer. À charger that is suitable for one type of bat- tery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. Use power tools only with specifically designated bat- tery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, Keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns orafire. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery avoid contact. If contact accidentally oc- curs, flush with water. liquid contacts eyes, addi-
tionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the bat- tery may cause irritation or burns. Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk ofinjury. Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excess- ive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130°C may cause explosion. Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk offre.

They may also be used for a preliminary estimation of vibration and noise emissions. The stated vibration level and noise emission value repres- entthe main applications of the power tool. However, ifthe power tool is used for other applications, with different ap- plication tools or is poorly maintained, the vibration level and noise emission value may differ. This may significantly increase the vibration and noise emissions over the total working period. To estimate vibration and noise emissions accurately, the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually being used should also be taken into account. This may significantly reduce vibration and noise emissions over the total working period. Implement additional safety measures to protect the oper- ator from the effects of vibration, such as servicing the power tool and application tools, keeping their hands warm, and organising workflows correctly. Fitting > Remove the battery from the power tool before carry- ing out work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance, changing tool, etc.). The battery should also be re- moved for transport and storage. There is risk of injury from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch. Removing the battery (see figure A) > Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. Only these chargers are matched to the lithium-ion battery of your power tool. Note: The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure full battery capacity, fully charge the battery in the charger before using your power tool for the first time. The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducingits service life. nterrupting the charging process does not damage the battery. The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharge bythe "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". When the battery is discharged, the power tool is switched off by means of à protective circuit: The application tool no longer rotates. > Do not continue to press the On/Off switch after the power tool has automatically switched off. The battery can be damaged. To remove the battery (5), press both release buttons (4) and pullthe battery dounwards out of the power tool. Da not use force to do this. Dust/Chip Extraction Dust from materials such as lead-containing coatings, some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to one's health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or bystanders. Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad- ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing asbestos may only be worked by specialists. — Provide for good ventilation of the working place. Bosch Power Tools 1609 92A 47] (03.05.2019)
18] English —_Itis recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator. Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma- terials to be worked. > Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can easily gnite. Operation Start-up Inserting the battery Note: The use of batteries unsuitable for your power tool can lead to malfunctions or damage to the power tool. Set the rotational direction switch (6) to the middle position to avoid unintentionally switchingt on. Insert the charged battery (5) into the handle until you feel it engage and it is flush with the handle. Setting the rotational direction (see figure H) The rotational direction switch (6) is used to change the ro- tational direction of the power tool. However, this is not pos sible while the on/off switch (7) is being pressed. Right rotation: To dll and to drive in screws, press the ro tational direction switch (6) through to the left stop. Left Rotation: To loosen and unscrew screws and nuts, press the rotational direction switch (6) through to the right stop. Preselecting the Torque The torque presetting ring (2) can be used to preselect the required torque in 20 stages. When the correct setting is used, the application tool il be stopped when the screw is driven flush into the material or once the set torque has been reached. In position «xuthe overload clutch is deactivated, e.g. for drilling. When unscrewing screws, you can select a higher setting or setthe tool to the axxsymbol. Mechanical gear selection > Only operate the gear selector (3) when the power tool is not in use. You can preselect two speed ranges with the gear selector Gear l: Low speed range: for screwdriving or working with a large driling diameter. Gearll: High speed range: for working with a small driling diameter. Suitching on/off To startthe power tool, press and hold the on/off switch The lamp lights up when the on/off switch (7) is lightly or fully pressed for a few seconds, meaning that the work area isilluminated in poor lighting conditions. To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (7) Adjusting the Speed You can adjust the speed ofthe power tool when is on by pressing in the on/off switch (7) to varying extents. Alight pressure on the on/off switch (7) results in a low rota- tional speed. ncreased pressure on the switch causes an in- crease in speed. Fully automatic spindle lock (Auto-Lock) The dril spindle, and therefore the too holder, are locked when the on/off switch (7) is not pressed. This allows screws to be driven in even when the battery is discharged and enables the power tool to be used as à screwdriver. Battery charge-control indicator When the on/off switch (7) is pressed in halfway or com- pletely, the battery charge-control indicator (8) indicates the charge condition of the battery for several seconds. The indicator consists of three green LEDS. The three LEDS of the battery charge-control indicator (8) and the lamp flash urgentiy when the temperature of the bat: teryfalls or rises outside the operating temperature range of -20 to +50 °C. LED Capacity Continuous light 3 x green 276% Continuous light 2 x green 51-75% Continuous light 1 x green 26-50 % Slowiy flashing light 1 x green 25% Temperature-dependent overload protection In normal conditions of use, the power tool cannot be over- loaded. Ithere is an extreme overload, the povier tool switches off until the optimal operating temperature range is reached again. This status is indicated by the three battery charge indicator (8) LEDS flashing in a chase sequence. The LEDS turn off if the power tool has reached the optimum operating temper- ature again. Practical advice > Only apply the power tool to the screw when the tool is switched off. Rotating application tools can slip off. After working at a low speed for an extended period, you should operate the power tool at the maximum speed for ap- proximately three minutes without load to cool it down. When drilinginto metal, only use sharpened HSS drills (HSS = high-speed steel) which are in perfect condition. The Bosch accessory range guarantees appropriate quality. Before screwing larger, longer screws into hard materials, it is advisable to pre-dril'a pilot hole with the core diameter of the thread to approx. 2/3 of the screw length Belt clip (see figure 1) You can use the belt clip (7) to hang the power tool on à belt, for example. You then have both hands free and the power tool is always within easy reach. 1609 92h 47V](03.05.2019) Bosch Power Tools
