Use

The hood is designed to be used either for exhausting or filter version.

ELICA NUAGE SENSE DRYWALL - Use - 1

Ducting version

In this case the fumes are conveyed outside of the building by means of a special pipe connected with the connection ring located on top of the hood.

Attention! The exhausting pipe is not supplied and must be purchased apart.

Diameter of the exhausting pipe must be equal to that of the connection ring.

In the horizontal runs the exhausting pipe must be slightly slanted (about 10 degrees) and directed upwards to vent the air easily from the room to the outside.

Attention! If the hood is supplied with an active charcoal filter, it must be removed.

Connect the hood and the discharge holes on the walls with a diameter equivalent to the air outlet (connection flange).

Using tubes and discharge holes on walls with smaller dimensions will cause a reduction in suction performance and a drastic increase in noise.

Any responsibility in this matter is therefore declined.

Use a duct of the minimum indispensable length. Use a duct with as few elbows as possible (maximum elbow angle: 90°). Avoid drastic changes in the duct cross-section. Use a duct as smooth as possible inside. The duct must be made of certified material.

ELICA NUAGE SENSE DRYWALL - Ducting version - 1

Filter version

One active charcoal filter is needed for this and can be obtained from your usual retailer.

The filter removes grease and odors from the extracted

air before sending it back into the room through the upper outlet grid.

Installation

The minimum distance between the supporting surface for the cooking equipment on the hob and the lowest part of the range hood must be not less than 50 cm from electric cookers and 65 cm from gas or mixed cookers.

If the installation instructions for the gas hob specify a greater distance, this must be adhered to.

ELICA NUAGE SENSE DRYWALL - Installation - 1

Electrical connection

The mains power supply must correspond to the rating indicated on the plate situated inside the hood. If provided with a plug, connect the hood to a socket in compliance with current regulations and positioned in an accessible area, after installation. If it is not fitted with a plug (direct mains connection) or if the plug is not located in an accessible area, after installation, apply a double pole switch in accordance with standards which assures the complete disconnection of the mains under conditions relating to over-current category III, in accordance with installation instructions.

Warning! Before re-connecting the hood circuit to the mains supply and checking the efficient function, always check that the mains cable is correctly assembled.

Mounting

Before beginning installation:

  • Check that the product purchased is of a suitable size for the chosen installation area.
  • Remove the charcoal (*) filter(s) if supplied (see also relative paragraph). This/these is/are to be mounted only if you want to use the hood in the filtering version.
  • Check (for transport reasons) that there is no other supplied material inside the hood (e.g. packets with screws ( ), guarantees ( ), etc.), eventually removing them and keeping them.
  • If possible, disconnect and move freestanding or slide-in range from cabinet opening to provide easier access to rear wall/ceiling. Otherwise put a thick, protective covering over countertop, cooktop or range to protect from damage and debris. Select a flat surface for assembling the unit. Cover that surface with a protective covering and place all canopy hood parts and hardware in it.
  • In addition check whether near the installation area of the hood (in the area accessible also with the hood mounted) an electric socket is available and it is possible to connect a fumes discharge device to the outside (only suction version).
  • Carry out all the masonry work necessary (e.g. installation of an electric socket and/or a hole for the passage of the discharge tube).

Expansion wall plugs are provided to secure the hood to most types of walls/ceilings. However, a qualified technician must

verify suitability of the materials in accordance with the type of wall/ceiling. The wall/ceiling must be strong enough to take the weight of the hood. Do not tile, grout or silicone this appliance to the wall. Surface mounting only.

Use

The hood is designed to be used either for exhausting or filter version.

ELICA NUAGE SENSE DRYWALL - Use - 1

Ducting version

In this case, the fumes are conveyed outside of the building by means of a special pipe connected with the connection ring located on top of the hood.

Attention! The exhausting pipe is not supplied and must be purchased separately.

The diameter of the exhausting pipe must be equal to that of the connection ring.

In horizontal runs, the exhausting pipe must be slightly slanted (about 10 degrees) and directed upwards to vent the air easily from the room to the outside.

Attention! If the hood is supplied with active charcoal filter, then it must be removed.

Connect the hood and discharge holes on the walls with a diameter equivalent to the air outlet (connection flange).

Using tubes and discharge holes on walls with smaller dimensions will cause a diminution of the suction performance and a drastic increase in noise.

Any responsibility in the matter is therefore declined.

Use a duct of the minimum indispensable length. Use a duct with as few elbows as possible (maximum elbow angle: 90 degrees).

The filter removes grease and odors from the extracted air before sending it back into the room through the upper outlet grid.

Installation

Specialized personnel must carry out both the electrical and mechanical installation.

The minimum distance between the supporting surface for the cooking equipment on the hob and the lowest part of the range hood must be not less than 50 cm from electric cookers

and 65 cm from gas or mixed cookers.

If the installation instructions for the gas hob specify a greater distance, this must be adhered to.

ELICA NUAGE SENSE DRYWALL - Specialized personnel must carry out both the electrical and mechanical installation. - 1

Electrical connection

The mains power supply must correspond to the rating indicated on the plate situated inside the hood. If provided with a plug, connect the hood to a socket in compliance with current regulations and positioned in an accessible area after installation. If it is not fitted with a plug (direct mains connection) or if the plug is not located in an accessible area after installation, apply a double pole switch in accordance with standards which assures the complete disconnection of the mains under conditions relating to over-current category III, in accordance with installation instructions.

  • Check (for transport reasons) that there is no other supplied material inside the hood (e.g. packets with screws, guarantees, etc.), eventually removing them and keeping them.

However, a qualified technician must verify suitability of the materials in accordance with the type of wall/ceiling. The wall/ceiling must be strong enough to take the weight of the hood. Do not tile, grout or silicone this appliance to the wall. Surface mounting only.

Note: Provided a sheet metal primer is first applied, the aesthetic front panel can be painted even with wall paint.

Electrical connection

The mains voltage must correspond to the voltage indicated on the technical data plate, which is located inside the appliance. If the plug is fitted, plug it into a suitable socket. It must comply with current regulations and be located in an accessible place. The socket can be connected after installation. If the plug is not fitted (direct connection to the mains), or if the socket is not located in an accessible place, also after installation, use an approved two-pole switch that ensures complete disconnection from the mains under overvoltage category III, in accordance with installation instructions.

Warning! Before connecting the electrical extraction system to the power supply, check that it is functioning correctly and ensure that the power cable is properly installed.

Installation

Before starting installation:

  • Check that the dimensions of the product you have purchased fit the chosen installation location.
  • Check the grease filters, if present (see also the relevant section). The filters are installed in reverse, only if you intend to use the extraction in recirculation mode.
  • Make sure that no objects left inside the hood during transport (e.g., packaging with accessories, warranty cards, etc.) remain inside; if any, remove them and keep them. If possible, separate and remove the movable elements located under the hood and near its installation area, to ensure freer access to the ceiling/walls to which the hood will be fixed. If this is not possible, as

carefully protect the furniture as much as possible during the movement before installation. Choose a flat surface, cover it with a protective covering, and place the hood and the fixing parts on it.

  • Make sure that near the hood installation area (in the area accessible even after hood installation) there is a power socket and an opening for the exhaust duct, leading the smoke outside (only in extraction mode). Perform all necessary work (e.g., installation of the wall socket and/or drilling of the hole for the exhaust pipe).

The hood is supplied with lifting and fixing systems for most walls/ceilings. However, it is necessary to contact a qualified technician and make sure that the materials of the walls/ceilings are suitable. The wall/ceiling must have sufficient strength considering the weight of the appliance.

Note: the aesthetic panel may also be painted with wall paint, but only after applying a primer for metal.

Operation

Use the intensive mode of the hood in case of particularly high concentration of cooking fumes. We recommend turning on the hood 5 minutes before starting the cooking process and keeping it on for 15 minutes after the process ends.

L1 + L2 will flash when it is necessary to perform maintenance on the pre-filter.

Cleaning the clogged carbon active filter

L3 + L4 will flash when it is necessary to perform maintenance on the carbon active filter.

Reset the filter clogging indicator.

After performing maintenance on the filters, turn on the extraction and hold the button (T) pressed for more than 5 seconds: an acoustic signal (buzzer) will sound to confirm the operation.

Note: If the clogging indicator for both the grease filter and the carbon filter is activated simultaneously, it is necessary to repeat the reset operation twice.

Maintenance

Attention! Before performing any operation for cleaning or technical maintenance, disconnect the extraction from the electrical network, disconnecting the plug or the switch.

Cleaning

Before cleaning the device, disconnect it from the power supply both internally and externally (at least with the same reliability as for cleaning the filters). For cleaning, use a special cloth, similar to the one used with a mild detergent. Do not use products containing abrasive materials.

DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!

Attention: Failure to follow the cleaning and filter replacement rules may lead to a risk of fire. Therefore, we recommend following the instructions provided.

The manufacturer declines all responsibility for damage to the engine caused by fires resulting from improper repair or failure to follow the described precautions.

Grease filters

Fig. 5-14

They retain grease particles coming from cooking.

They should be cleaned at least once a month (or when the system indicates the saturation of the filters - if present in your model - it indicates this need) with non-abrasive detergents, either by hand or in the dishwasher at low temperature and short cycle (max. temp. 70°C).

As a result of washing by hand, metal parts may discolor. The filter must be dried for one hour in the oven at a temperature not exceeding 100°C. If after this the filter is still damp, repeat the operation. Replace the filters at least every 2 years. To remove the grease filter, pull the handle towards you to release the filter.

Charcoal filter (only for recirculation mode)

Fig. 13

Removes unpleasant kitchen odors.

The saturation of the charcoal filter occurs after a more or less long period of operation, depending on the type of cooking and the frequency of cleaning the grease filters. In any case, replace the cartridge at least every 4 months (or when the system indicates the saturation of the filter, if it is present in your model, it indicates this need).

The charcoal filter cannot be washed or regenerated.

Round charcoal filter

The hood is protected on the inside by protective elements that are removed after installation of the hood on the gas or electric stove.

Remove the protective elements against the electric shock.

Replacing lamps

The hood is equipped with LED lighting. The LEDs provide optimal illumination, their service life is 10 times longer than that of traditional lamps, and they allow saving 90% of electricity.

The distance from the lower part of the hood to the hob must be at least 50 cm for electric hobs,

and 65 cm for gas and combined hobs.

It is necessary to take into account the distances specified in the installation instructions for the gas hob.

ELICA NUAGE SENSE DRYWALL - Replacing lamps - 1

Electrical connection

The voltage in the electrical network must correspond to the characteristics indicated on the label, which is located inside the hood. If the plug for connecting to the electrical network is not included in the kit, then install it on the hood's power cord, which must comply with existing standards and be in an accessible place so that it can be disconnected after installation. If the plug is not included in the kit (or the socket is not in an accessible place, also after installation), then install a reliable two-pole switch that ensures complete disconnection from the network under conditions of overvoltage category III, in full compliance with the installation rules.

Attention! Before you connect the hood to the electrical network again and check the correctness of operation, make sure that the network filter is installed correctly.

Installation

Before starting installation:

  • Check the dimensions of the purchased product to ensure they correspond to the chosen installation location. Remove the filter/grease filter/charcoal filter (if present, also the corresponding cover). The filter will be reinstalled later if you do not want to use the hood in recirculation mode.
  • Check that inside the hood there are no foreign objects left during its transportation (for example, packages with magazines, warranty cards, etc.). If there are, remove them and keep them. If possible, disconnect and move the furniture that is located near the installation area, to ensure free access to the wall/ceiling where the hood will be attached. If this is not possible, protect the furniture and other items during installation. Check the level surface, cover it with a protective coating and place the hood and mounting parts on it. Also check that in the area of the hood mounting (in the area, also after mounting the hood) there is an electrical outlet and a hole for the exhaust pipe, which will be used for ventilation (preferably in exhaust mode). Perform all necessary work (for example: installing the electrical outlet and/or making a hole for the exhaust pipe).

The hood kit includes screws for mounting, designed for most types of walls/ceilings. However, it is necessary to contact a qualified technician to check the suitability of the materials depending on the type of wall or ceiling. The wall/ceiling must be strong enough to support the weight of the hood.

Warning: The coating may be damaged by strong paint, but the rollers for pre-application of the coating are included.
