3.3. Working with the device

3.3.1 Before starting up for the first time

  • Place the motor on a level, solid surface, not tilted more than 20° from the proper vertical.
  • Fill up with engine oil, as the engine is deprived of it during transport. To do this, unscrew the oil plug and fill up with engine oil through it until the level reaches the correct level on the plug's dipstick (only one plug has a check dipstick) - preferably close to the maximum permissible level. The oil level should be checked by screwing in/inserting the plug with the dry dipstick into the engine and after a few seconds unscrewing it again and checking the oil level on the dipstick.

IMPORTANT: Do not overfill the engine oil - it can damage the engine! If the oil level exceeds the permissible level, suck out the excess oil. Always check the engine oil level with the engine off and cold or cooled.

natural_image Diagram of a submerged object with a downward arrow indicating flow or force, embedded in a liquid surface (no text or symbols)
  • Replace the filler cap by tightening it all the way.
  • Connect the generator to ground - screwing the ground wire (not included in the device) to the ground connection in the product, and its other end is driven into the ground.

IMPORTANT: grounding the generator is extremely important, because it protects the operator from the effects of a possible overvoltage, for this reason it should be fixed every time the device is used.

3.3.2 Starting the generator

a) Make sure that no load is connected to the generator. If there is, disconnect it.
b) Set the overcurrent switch on the control panel to the off position - "OFF"
c) Set the fuel valve to the open position, i.e. with the lever in the "ON" position (see the corresponding pictogram on the housing above the lever)

d) Set the suction throttle to the closed position - the lever moved to the left. When starting a warm engine, the intake throttle should be in the open position - the lever moved to the right:

MSW PG2200 EASY - Starting the generator - 1

natural_image Close-up of a yellow robotic car with metallic clamps and black body, no visible text or symbols

e) Set the ignition switch on the control panel to the "ON" position.

f) Grasp the starter jerk handle and slowly pull away from the unit until you feel resistance, then pull with a firm motion, keeping the jerk handle in your hand at all times even as it returns to the starting position. Repeat this motion until the engine starts.

g) Let the running engine work on the suction for about 1-3 minutes to reach operating temperature.

h) After the generator has warmed up, turn off the suction (smoothly move the throttle valve to the open-right position).

i) You can connect 230V AC receivers to the sockets, observing the rule to connect in the order starting from the receiver requiring the highest starting current to the lowest. When powering 12V receivers, connect them to the correct poles before starting the generator, paying attention to the correct polarity.

j) Turn the installation switch to the "ON" position and you can use the connected receivers.

3.3.3 Switching off the generator

a) Turn off all power consumers connected to the device.
b) Turn the installation switch to the "OFF" position.
c) Also turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position - this will turn off the engine.
d) Close the fuel valve - move its lever to the "OFF" position.

NOTE: in case of emergency shutdown of the generator: set the ignition switch to the "OFF" position - the engine will go out. Then close the fuel valve.

3.3.4 Transport / Storage

If the equipment is not to be used again, cool it down completely before transporting. For transport, it is advisable to empty the fuel tank to prevent any fuel leakage during transport.

If the unit is not used for a period of 1-2 months, empty the fuel from the tank or pour fresh fuel and add stabilizer to it. If the unit is not used for more than a few months, additionally empty the carburetor of fuel (dropping tank) and drain oil from the engine. Do not keep fuel in the tank with stabilizer longer than recommended by the manufacturer of this additive.

g) Clean the ventilation openings with a brush and compressed air.
h) Perform regular inspections of the unit checking technical fitness and any damages.
i) Use a soft cloth for cleaning.
j) Replace the engine oil regularly with fresh oil.

To change engine oil, it is best done when the oil is warm because it is thinner and flows more easily. First unscrew the oil filler cap and then the drain plug, first putting a container for used oil underneath it. After draining the oil, close the drain plug tightly and wipe dry the area around it from the rest of the used oil. You can refill the engine with fresh oil.

CAUTION: heated oil is hot - risk of burns!

k) Inspect and clean the air filter regularly and replace with a new one if necessary.

Removing the air filter: To access the air filter, undo the clips on the housing cover and remove the filter. Rinse the sponge filter in warm water with detergent or in extraction gasoline. Dry the sponge filter completely before reassembly, then soak it in a little fresh engine oil. Squeeze excess oil out of the filter before installing it in the machine.

IMPORTANT: do not operate unit without the air filter!
