Frequently Asked Questions - Emerald 360 S MAXI-COSI

What is the difference between rear-facing and forward-facing mode?

Rear-facing is recommended for children 40 to 105 cm (up to about 4 years) as it offers better head and neck protection. Forward-facing is allowed from 76 cm and 15 months, and becomes mandatory for children over 105 cm (up to 150 cm) when using the booster seat.

How do I install the seat with ISOFIX?

Pull the ISOFIX connectors (R) to their maximum length. Click them onto the vehicle's ISOFIX anchors. Push the seat against the backrest until the indicators turn green. Then deploy the support leg (M) to the vehicle floor, adjusting its height with the button (N) until the indicator (L) is green.

Can I use the seat in a sideways position for installing the child?

Yes, the seat can rotate 360° to make it easier to get the child in and out. However, never drive with the seat in a sideways or intermediate position; it must be locked in the rear-facing or forward-facing position.

When should I remove the newborn insert?

The newborn insert must be removed when the child is taller than 60 cm. It is mandatory for children 40 to 60 cm.

How do I adjust the harness correctly?

Place the child in the seat, fasten the harness and pull the adjustment strap (I) to tighten it. You should not be able to fit more than one finger (1 cm) between the harness and the child. Also adjust the headrest to the correct height.

Can I install the seat in the front with an airbag?

If you install the seat rear-facing in the front seat, you must deactivate the passenger airbag. For forward-facing, the front seat is not recommended; if necessary, move the seat back as far as possible and consult the vehicle manual.

How do I clean the seat cover?

The cover, headrest, shoulder pads, crotch pad and insert are removable. Hand wash or machine wash at 30°C. Never use bleach or harsh products. Replace only with an official Maxi-Cosi cover.

What is the lifespan of the Emerald 360 S seat?

This seat is designed for a lifespan of approximately 12 years under intensive use. Replace it after a severe accident or if any parts are damaged.

Is the seat compatible with all vehicles?

The seat is approved as i-Size Universal ISOFIX, but check the compatibility list on the Maxi-Cosi website. Ensure the vehicle has ISOFIX anchors and a 3-point belt. In rear-facing mode, verify that the seat fits properly in your vehicle.

What should I do if the support leg indicator does not turn green?

Make sure the support leg is fully extended and the base firmly touches the floor. Adjust the height with the adjustment button (N). If the problem persists, check the location: it should be as far forward as possible and perpendicular to the ground.

SAFETY

• The Emerald 360 S is intended for car use only.
• The Emerald 360 S is developed for an intensive use of approximately 12 years.
- Do not use any load bearing contact points other than those described in the instructions and marked in the child restraint.

The Emerald 360 S car seat in the car:

- The car seat can be rotated 360^ to help you get your child in and out of the vehicle easily. This also allows you to change the position of the seat from rearward facing to forward facing.

• Before buying this product make sure the car seat is compatible with the vehicle it is to be used in.
• The car seat must be used rearward facing up to a minimum age of 15 months (up to 75cm ) to guarantee optimum safety for your child. Maxi-Cosi recommends you use the seat in the rearward facing position up to 105cm (until approx. 4 years of age). This makes it possible to improve the protection of the head and neck of the infant, which is still very fragile at this age, very significantly.
• The car seat must be installed with ISOFIX and support leg when your child's height is from 40 cm to 105 cm (max. 18 kg).
• When the support leg is used, it must always be unfolded completely, locked, and placed in the most forward position.
• The car seat must be used with the 5-point harness when your child's length is from 40 cm to 105 cm and weight is max. 18 kg.
• You may install the car seat in a forward-facing position with the 5-point harness when your child is from 76 cm up to 105 cm in length and older than 15 months.
• You can install the car seat with the vehicle belt only or the vehicle belt and ISOFIX connectors when your child's length is from 100 to 150cm (max. 36 kg).
• The support leg must be folded and locked under the car seat when your child is using the vehicle safety belt.
• When the child restraint is installed in the

maximum rearward facing position, it may not fit in all approved vehicles. Please check that all possible positions of the car seat (recline positions and headrest adjustment) fit in your car.

WARNING:

• It is MANDATORY to install the support leg when your child's height is from 40 cm to 105 cm.
• The ISOFIX anchors have been developed to obtain a safe and easy fixation of the child safety systems inside the car. Not all cars are equipped with these anchors although they are standard on more recent models.
• When installing the car seat, spaces between the base of the car seat and the vehicle seat are possible depending on the position of the anchorage points within the vehicle.
• Use the car seat only on a front-facing seat that is fitted with an automatic or static 3-point belt that has been approved according to the ECE R16 standard or similar. Do NOT use a 2-point belt.

Your child in the Emerald 360 S car seat

- The newborn inlay included in your Emerald 360 S seat plays an integral part in the efficiency of the restraint system for your child from 40 to 60 cm. It can be removed, and the cover taken off for washing, but it is essential to place it back again where it belongs and only use this official Maxi-Cosi Emerald 360 S

newborn inlay. This newborn inlay is exclusively for use with the Emerald 360 S seat.

• Always make sure to remove the inlay when your child's length is more than 60 cm.
• Make sure you can fit no more than one finger between the harnesses and your child (1cm). If there is more space than 1 cm, tighten the harness belt further.
• Make sure the headrest is adjusted to the proper height.

ATTENTION:

• It is prohibited to adjust the seat position while travelling.
• It is MANDATORY to recline the car seat when your child is travelling in rearward facing position.
• It is prohibited to recline the car seat when your child is using the vehicle safety belt.
• The car seat must always be locked in the forward facing or rearward facing position when travelling. Do NOT travel when the car seat is rotated to a lateral (loading) position or to any other unlocked intermediate position.
• If you use the car seat in rearward facing position on the front seat, it is mandatory to deactivate the passenger airbag. We advise to move the vehicle seat back to a maximum (Please consult your car manual).

CARE

The cover, headrest cover, shoulder pads, crotch pad and the newborn inlay can be removed for washing. If the cover needs to be replaced at any time, only use official Maxi-Cosi covers because it constitutes an integral part of the restraint performance.
