Noise emission values determined according to ENIEC62841-2-6. Typically, the A-weighted noise level of the power tool is: Sound pressure level dB(A)

(triax vector sum) and uncertainty K determined according to ENIEC62841-2-6: Hammer drilling into concrete:

The vibration level and noise emission value given in these instructions have been measured in accordance with a standardised measuring procedure and may be used to com- pare power tools. They may also be used for a preliminary estimation of vibration and noise emissions. The stated vibration level and noise emission value repres- ent the main applications of the power tool. However, if the power tool is used for other applications, with different ac- cessories or is poorly maintained, the vibration level and noise emission value may differ. This may significantly in- crease the vibration and noise emissions over the total work- ing period. To estimate vibration and noise emissions accurately, the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually being used should also be taken into account. This may significantly reduce vibration and noise emissions over the total working period. Implement additional safety measures to protect the oper- ator from the effects of vibration, such as servicing the power tool and accessories, keeping their hands warm, and organising workflows correctly. Dust emission information withGDE18V-16 Dust emission values determined according toEN50632-2-6: Respirable dust:<0.5mg/m

The indicated dust emission value was determined under the following operating conditions: Operating mode: Hammer drilling Application tool: SDS plus drill bit, diameter 10 mm Bosch Power Tools 1 609 92A 96F | (20.12.2023)24 | English Note: If the power tool is used in another operating mode, with other application tools or is poorly maintained, the dust emission value may differ. This may significantly increase dust emissions over the total working period. If necessary, establish additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of dust emissions, for example: Wear a P2 filter class breathing mask. The regulations on the material being machined that apply in the country of use must be observed. Rechargeable battery Bosch sells some cordless power tools without a re- chargeable battery. You can tell whether a rechargeable bat- tery is included with the power tool by looking at the pack- aging. Charging the battery u Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. Only these chargers are matched to the lithium-ion battery of your power tool. Note: Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are supplied par- tially charged according to international transport regula- tions. To ensure full rechargeable battery capacity, fully charge the rechargeable battery before using your tool for the first time. Inserting the Battery Push the charged battery into the battery holder until it clicks into place. Removing the Battery To remove the rechargeable battery, press the battery re- lease button and pull the battery out. Do not use force to do this. The rechargeablebattery has two locking levels to prevent the battery from falling out if the battery releasebutton is pressed unintentionally. The rechargeable battery is held in place by a spring when fitted in the power tool. Battery charge indicator Note: Not all battery types have a battery charge indicator. The green LEDs on the battery charge indicator indicate the state of charge of the battery. For safety reasons, it is only possible to check the state of charge when the power tool is not in operation. Press the button for the battery charge indicator or to show the state of charge. This is also possible when the bat- tery is removed. If no LED lights up after pressing the button for the battery charge indicator, then the battery is defective and must be replaced. Only store the battery within a temperature range of −20 to 50°C. Do not leave the battery in your car in the summer, for example. Occasionally clean the ventilation slots on the battery using a soft brush that is clean and dry. A significantly reduced operating time after charging indic- ates that the battery has deteriorated and must be replaced. Follow the instructions on correct disposal. Assembly u Remove the battery from the power tool before carry- ing out work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance, changing tool, etc.). The battery should also be re- moved for transport and storage. There is risk of injury from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch. Inserting the Bluetooth® Low Energy Module GCY42 (Accessory) Read the corresponding operating instructions for informa- tion about the Bluetooth® Low Energy ModuleGCY42. Auxiliary handle u Do not operate your power tool without the auxiliary handle(20). u Make sure that the auxiliary handle is always tightened. Otherwise you could lose control of the power tool when working. 1 609 92A 96F | (20.12.2023) Bosch Power ToolsEnglish | 25 Swivelling the auxiliary handle (see figure A) You can swivel the auxiliary handle (20) to any angle for a safe work posture that minimises fatigue. – Turn the lower gripping end of the auxiliary handle (20) anticlockwise and swivel the auxiliary handle (20) into the required position. Then turn the lower gripping end of the auxiliary handle (20) clockwise to retighten it. Make sure that the retaining strap of the auxiliary handle slots into the corresponding groove of the housing. Selecting drill chucks and tools Hammer drilling and chiselling require SDS-plus application tools that are inserted into the SDS-plus drill chuck. For drilling without impact in wood, metal, ceramic and plastic as well as for screwdriving, tools without SDS‑plus are used (e.g. cylindrical shank drill bits). For these tools, a keyless chuck or a keyed chuck are required. Changing the drill chuck Inserting/removing the keyed chuck

You must use a suitable drill chuck (keyed or keyless chuck, accessories) to work with tools that do not have SDS-plus (e.g. cylindrical shank drill bits). Fitting the keyed chuck (see figure B) – Screw the SDS-plus shank (32) into a keyed chuck (31). Secure the keyed chuck (31) using the securing screw (30). Note that the securing screw has a left-hand thread. Inserting the keyed chuck (seefigureB) – Clean and lightly grease the insertion end of the shank. – Insert the keyed chuck with the adapter shank into the tool holder with a turning motion until it automatically locks. – Check that it is locked by pulling the keyed chuck. Removing the keyed chuck – Push the locking sleeve (5) back and remove the keyed chuck (31). Removing/inserting the quick-change chuck

Removing the Quick-Change Chuck (seefigureC) – Pull back on the quick-change chuck locking ring(6), hold it in this position and pull the SDS plus quick-change chuck(2) or the keyless quick-change chuck(1) out from the front. – Once the quick-change chuck is removed, protect it from dirt. Inserting the quick-change chuck (seefigureD) u Use only model-specific original equipment and pay attention to the number of identification grooves (34). Only quick-change chucks with two or three identification grooves are permitted. If an unsuitable quick-change chuck is used, the application tool can fall out during operation. – Before insertion, clean the quick-change chuck and lightly grease the shank. – Wrap your whole hand around the SDS-plus quick-change chuck (2) or the keyless quick-change chuck (1). Use a turning motion to push the quick-change chuck into the drill chuck holder (33) until you hear it click into place. – The quick-change chuck is automatically locked. Check that it is locked by pulling on the quick-change chuck. Changing the Tool The dust protection cap (4) largely prevents the penetration of drilling dust into the tool holder during operation. When inserting the tool, make sure that the dust protection cap (4) does not become damaged. u Replace a damaged dust protection cap immediately. It is recommended that you have use an after-sales service for this. Changing the tool (SDS plus) Inserting SDS plus application tools (seefigureE) The SDS plus drill chuck enables you to change the applica- tion tool easily and conveniently without needing to use ad- ditional tools. – GBH18V-28CF: Insert the SDS plus quick-change chuck(2). – Clean and lightly grease the shank of the application tool. – Insert the application tool into the tool holder while turn- ing it until it locks automatically. – Check that it is locked by pulling on the tool. As a requirement of the system, the SDS-plus application tool can move freely. This causes a certain radial run-out at no-load, which has no effect on the accuracy of the drill hole, as the drill bit centres itself upon drilling. Removing SDS-plus application tools (seefigureF) – Push the locking sleeve (5) back and remove the applica- tion tool. Changing the keyed chuck

Inserting the application tool (seefigureG) Note: Application tools that do not have SDS plus must not be used for hammer drilling or chiselling. Tools without SDS plus and their drill chucks are damaged by hammer drilling or chiselling. – Insert a keyed chuck(31). – Open the keyed chuck(31) by turning it until the tool can be inserted. Insert the tool. – Insert the chuck key(35) into the corresponding holes of the keyed chuck(31) and clamp the tool evenly. – Turn the impact/mode selector switch(17) to the "drilling" position. Removing the application tool (seefigureH) – Use the chuck key(35) to turn the sleeve of the keyed chuck(31) anticlockwise until the application tool can be removed. Bosch Power Tools 1 609 92A 96F | (20.12.2023)26 | English Changing the keyless quick-change chuck

Inserting the application tool (seefigureI) Note: Application tools that do not have SDS plus must not be used for hammer drilling or chiselling. Tools without SDS plus and their drill chucks are damaged by hammer drilling or chiselling. – Insert the keyless quick-change chuck(1). – Hold the retaining ring(37) of the keyless quick-change chuck firmly in place. Open the tool holder by turning the front sleeve(36) until the tool can be inserted. Hold the retaining ring(37) in place and firmly tighten the front sleeve(36) by turning it in the direction of the arrow until you hear it click into place. – Check that it is seated securely by pulling on the tool. Note: If the tool holder was unscrewed all the way, a scrap- ing sound may be heard while retightening the tool holder and it may not fully tighten. In this case, turn the front sleeve anti-clockwise by one turn. This will allow the tool holder to be fully tightened. – Turn the impact/mode selector switch (17) to the "drilling" position. Removing the application tool (seefigureJ) – Hold the retaining ring(37) of the keyless quick-change chuck firmly in place. Open the tool holder by turning the front sleeve(36) in the direction of the arrow until the tool can be removed. Dust/Chip Extraction The dust from materials such as lead paint, some types of wood, minerals and metal can be harmful to human health. Touching or breathing in this dust can trigger allergic reac- tions and/or cause respiratory illnesses in the user or in people in the near vicinity. Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are classified as carcinogenic, especially in conjunction with wood treatment additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials contain- ing asbestos may only be machined by specialists. – Use a dust extraction system that is suitable for the ma- terial wherever possible. – Provide good ventilation at the workplace. – It is advisable to wear a P2 filter class breathing mask. The regulations on the material being machined that apply in the country of use must be observed. u Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can easily ignite. Dust extraction with GDE18V-16 (accessory) (seefigureK) The GDE18V-16 dust extraction attachment (accessory) is required for extracting concrete dust and stone dust. This dust extraction system is not suitable for dust from wood, metal and plastic or for dust which is harmful to one’s health (e.g. asbestos). Operation Start-up u Ensure that the cover (15) of the Bluetooth

Low Energy Module GCY42 is closed during operation. This will pre- vent dust from getting in. Setting the Operating Mode The operating mode of the power tool is selected using the impact/mode selector switch(17). – To change the operating mode, press the release button(16) and turn the impact/mode selector switch(17) until it clicks into the required position. Note: Only change the operating mode when the power tool is switched off. Otherwise, the power tool may become dam- aged. Position for hammer drilling into concrete or stone Position for drilling without impact in wood, metal, ceramic and plastic and for screwdriv- ing Vario-Lock position for adjusting the chisel po- sition The impact/mode selector switch(17) will not engage in this position. Position for chiselling Setting the Rotational Direction The rotational direction switch (10) is used to change the ro- tational direction of the power tool. However, this is not pos- sible while the on/off switch (12) is being pressed. u Only operate the rotational direction switch(10) when the power tool is not in use. Always set the rotational direction to clockwise rotation for hammer drilling, drilling and chiselling. – Clockwise: To drill and to drive in screws, press the rota- tional direction switch(10) all the way to the left. – Anticlockwise: To loosen and unscrew screws and nuts, press the rotational direction switch(10) all the way to the right. Note: If the rotational direction switch is in the middle posi- tion, the on/off switch is blocked. Switching On/Off – To switch on the power tool, press the on/off switch (12). The worklight (18) lights up when the on/off switch (12) is lightly or fully pressed, allowing the work area to be illumin- ated in poor lighting conditions. 1 609 92A 96F | (20.12.2023) Bosch Power ToolsEnglish | 27 When switching on the power tool for the first time, the start may be slightly delayed as the power tool's electronic system has to configure itself first. For low temperatures, the power tool reaches the full ham- mer/impact capacity only after a certain time. – To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (12). Adjusting the Speed/Impact Rate You can adjust the speed/impact rate of the power tool when it is on by pressing in the on/off switch(12) to varying ex- tents. Applying light pressure to the on/off switch(12) results in a low rotational speed/impact rate. Applying increasing pres- sure to the switch increases the speed/impact rate. You can also control the speed on the user interface and/or via a smartphone app: . Changing the chiselling position (Vario-Lock) You can lock the chisel in 40 different positions, so you can select the optimum working position for each task. – Insert the chisel into the tool holder. – Turn the impact/mode selector switch (17) to the "Vario- Lock" position. – Turn the application tool to the required chisel position. – Turn the impact/mode selector switch (17) to the "chis- elling" position. "Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by the copyright owner that is granting the License. "Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under common control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition, "control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity. "You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity exercising permissions granted by this License. "Source" form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications, including but not limited to software source code, documentation source, and configuration files. "Object" form shall mean any form resulting from mechanical transformation or translation of a Source form, including but not limited to compiled object code, generated documentation, and conversions to other media types. "Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a copyright 1 609 92A 96F | (20.12.2023) Bosch Power ToolsLicenses | 395 notice that is included in or attached to the work (an example is provided in the Appendix below). "Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of, the Work and Derivative Works thereof. "Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted" means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems, and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution." "Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and subsequently incorporated within the Work.

2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of

this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.

3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this

License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work, where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s) with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You institute patent litigation against any entity (including a cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.

4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the

Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You meet the following conditions: – You must give any other recipients of the Work or Derivative Works a copy of this License; and – You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices stating that You changed the files; and – You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and attribution notices from the Source form of the Work, excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of the Derivative Works; and – If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must include a reada- ble copy of the attribution notices contained within such NOTICE fi- le, excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of the Deri- vative Works, in at least one of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed as part of the Derivative Works; within the Sour- ce form or documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or, within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and do not mo- dify the License. You may add Your own attribution notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided that such additional at- tribution notices cannot be construed as modifying the License. You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and may provide additional or different license terms and conditions for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use, reproduc- tion, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with the condi- tions stated in this License.

5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise,

any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of this License, without any additional terms or conditions. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed with Licensor regarding such Contributions.

6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade

names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor, except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.

7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or

agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.

8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory,

whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise, unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing

the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer, and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity, or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.
