Frequently Asked Questions - WHI649B21S GORENJE

How to install the hood in exhaust mode?
Connect an exhaust pipe (not supplied) to the cylindrical connector of the hood. The pipe must have the same diameter as the connector and be inclined upwards (about 10°). Drill a hole in the wall to pass the pipe to the outside. Ensure that the hole diameter is equal to that of the pipe to avoid performance loss.
How to clean the grease filter?
The grease filter must be cleaned at least once a month. Use a non-aggressive detergent by hand or in the dishwasher (short cycle at moderate temperature). Washing in the dishwasher may discolor the filter but does not affect its efficiency. To remove the filter, pull on the small spring handle.
When to replace the carbon filter?
The activated carbon filter must be replaced at least every 4 months, depending on frequency of use and type of cooking. It must not be washed or regenerated. To replace the circular filters, turn them counterclockwise to remove and clockwise to install.
What to do if the LED lighting no longer works?
The hood is equipped with user-non-replaceable LED lamps. In case of malfunction, contact an authorized service technician. LEDs have a lifespan ten times longer than traditional bulbs and save 90% electricity.
What distance should be maintained between the hood and the hob?
The hood must be installed at least 50 cm above an electric hob and at least 65 cm above a gas or mixed hob. Observe greater distances if the cooker instructions require it.
How to activate Boost mode?
Press the Power Boost key. The hood runs at maximum power for 5 minutes, then automatically returns to speed 3. This mode is ideal for strong concentrations of vapors.
How to set the delayed shutdown timer?
After selecting a speed (1, 2, 3 or Boost), press the Timer key once. A delayed shutdown of 15 minutes is activated. During Boost mode, the timer combines 5 minutes of Boost then 10 minutes at speed 3 before shutdown.
What to do if the hood is very noisy?
Check that the exhaust pipe is not too long, does not have excessive bends (maximum 90°) and that its diameter is correct. A diameter smaller than that of the connector increases noise. Also ensure that the filters are clean and correctly installed.
Can I use the hood without a carbon filter?
Yes, if you use the hood in exhaust mode to the outside, the carbon filter is not necessary. In recirculation mode, the carbon filter is essential to eliminate odors; it must be present.
How to maintain the exterior of the hood?
Regularly clean the exterior with a soft sponge and a neutral liquid detergent. Avoid abrasive products and alcohol. Do not use a steam cleaner. Neglected maintenance may lead to a risk of fire.

USE

The hood can operate in air extraction mode or recirculation mode.

GORENJE WHI649B21S - USE - 1

Air extraction mode

In extraction mode, polluted air is removed from the room through a special exhaust pipe, which is connected to the air outlet opening on the top of the hood.

The exhaust pipe is not included in the delivery set and is purchased separately.

The hood is heavy, so it must be moved and installed by at least two people.

The product is designed, tested, and manufactured in accordance with the specified standards.

Safety: EN/IEC 60335-1; EN/IEC 60335-2-31, EN/IEC 62233. - Performance: EN/IEC 61591; ISO 5167-1; ISO 5167-3; ISO 5168; EN/IEC 60704-1; EN/IEC 60704-2-13; ISO 3741; EN 50564; IEC 62301. - Electromagnetic compatibility: EN 55014-1; CISPR 14-1; EN 55014-2; CISPR 14-2; EN/IEC 61000-3-2; EN/IEC 61000-3-3.

Recommendations for proper use to reduce energy consumption. Before cooking, turn on the hood at minimum power. After cooking, leave the hood running for a few minutes. Increase power only when the amount of steam and vapors increases. Use maximum power only in extreme cases. Replace charcoal filters when necessary to ensure the hood effectively removes odors. Clean the grease filters when necessary to ensure they effectively trap grease. To make the hood work more efficiently and quietly, use the maximum diameter of the duct, as specified in this manual.

Additional technical characteristics for installation:

If the delivery set includes screws for fixing, use them. If not, purchase screws of the correct type. Use screws of the correct length, as specified in the installation manual.

If necessary, contact an authorized service center for repair.

WARNING! If you do not close the vent with a plug or other device in accordance with the instructions, it may lead to electric shock.

APPLICATION

The vent should be used during installation and recirculation.

GORENJE WHI649B21S - APPLICATION - 1

Installation mode

All air vents must be installed using a special pipe provided for the hole in the upper part of the vent.

Note! The pipe is not included in the kit. It must be purchased separately.

The diameters of the exhaust pipe and the connecting ring must match.

The exhaust pipe must be slightly inclined (approximately 10°) so that air can be easily removed outside.

Note! The valve is supplied with a carbon filter, which must be removed.

Open the vent to the partial exhaust openings, the diameter of which corresponds to the air outlet opening (connecting

flange.

Using exhaust pipes and partial openings of smaller diameter will reduce the efficiency of the installation and significantly increase the noise level.

Before installation.

  • Check that the dimensions of the accessory correspond to the selected installation location. Remove the carbon filters (*) if they are supplied with the kit (see relevant section). They need to be installed only if the vent will be used in recirculation mode.
  • Before installation, make sure that the appliance is not connected to the power supply and that the mounting surface is suitable for the weight of the appliance (for example, a wall made of plasterboard or hollow bricks). If it is, remove it and keep it. If possible, identify and remove any separate or protruding parts from the wall or ceiling to ensure access to the wall or ceiling. If this is not possible, cover the wall or ceiling surface and the protruding part with protective material to prevent damage and dirt. Then clean the surface to cover it with the appliance. Cover it with protective coating and place the appliance on it, along with the mounting bracket and mounting details.
  • Also check that the socket outlet is easily accessible after installation, and that the ventilation openings are not blocked (only in extraction mode). Perform all necessary work (for example, install the socket and make holes for the exhaust pipes).

The delivery set includes compensating elements that are suitable for mounting the appliance on most types of walls and ceilings. However, it is advisable to check whether they can be used on specific walls. The wall or ceiling to which the appliance is attached must support its weight. Do not attach the appliance to the wall using dowels or silicone sealant, nor directly to the plaster. Only for mounting on the surface.

OPERATION

Use the highest extraction speed only when there is a lot of steam. It is recommended to turn on the extraction hood 5 minutes before starting to cook, and also to leave it on during the entire process and for 15 minutes after it is finished.
